Gladys L. (Tomer) Murphy, 94, a longtime resident of Hermitage, passed away Thursday evening, October 5, 2023, in St. Paul's Home, Greenville, PA. Mrs. Murphy was born October 28, 1928, in Pulaski, PA, a daughter of the late George W. and Alice (Jackson) Turner, and graduated from West Middlesex High School in 1946. For more than 30 years, Gladys was employed by Dunkin Donuts in Hermitage. She previously had worked for AVI and Packard Electric Company, both in Warren, OH, and prior to her marriage worked for the former Sharon Transformer Div. of Westinghouse Electric Co. Gladys was a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church and was also a member of Lion's Club, both in Hermitage. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, cooking, theatre, and traveling. Her husband of 52 years, Albert M. Murphy, whom she married October 11, 1947, preceded her in death January 29, 1999. Comforted by memories are her two daughters, Elaine M. Tuttle (John), York, PA, and Carol A. Murphy (Matt Hunyadi), Hermitage; two sons, Glen A. Murphy (Faith), Transfer, PA, and Michael J. Murphy (Lynda Porter), Chicago, IL; a sister, Shirley J. Tomer, Reynolds, PA; two grandchildren, Justine Murphy Smith (Michael) and Glen Murphy, Jr. ; and two great-grandsons, Ryley Murphy and Fionn Smith. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by four brothers, Dean, Robert, Donald, and Jack; and two sisters, Catherine and Helen. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Virginia United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Keel Ridge Rd. , Hermitage, PA. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p. m. Monday (10-9-23) in J. Joseph "Chuck" Macri, 81, of Union Township passed away the evening of November 27, 2023 at UPMC Jameson. Born in New Castle on December 30, 1941, Joe was the son of the late Anthony and Rose Calve Macri. On November 11, 1967 Joe married his beloved wife the former Marlene Azara. She survives at home. Joe being the constant Jokester he was would always tell the story of how he and Marlene met in December, married in November wanting to make sure she didn't sober up - thus the short courtship. They would never divorce because neither wanted sole custody of their three children. Joe will be remembered as the "local barber" owning Macri's Barber Shop for sixty- one years. He proudly served his country as a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Joe was an avid golfer and Poker Player. He had played in The World Series of Poker twice in Las Vegas. He loved his Pittsburgh Steelers and had been a season ticket holder since 1970. Joe had also been a longtime member of Union Township Lions Club. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joe's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Dr. Candice Macri (Donald Rozman), Chaz Macri (Maria) and Martisse Macri (J. Hall), one sister, Loretta Bonci and four grandchildren, Antonio, Dante, Azai and Meko. Dale McCracken "Butch" Bartley, 81, of Shenango Township passed away the evening of November 27, 2023 at Jameson Care Center. Born in New Castle on June 26, 1942 Dale was the son of the late Albert James and Wilda Grace McCracken Bartley. Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Charlotte Mayberry on February 14, 2020. Dale was a retiree of McClymonds Trucking. He had played guitar with the Blue Grass Band "Bartley Brothers" for many years. Dale enjoyed sitting on his porch watching birds and wildlife come through his backyard. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Dale's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially all of his grandchildren. Dale is survived by his children, Beth Anderson (Jay), Alice Kirkwood and Stacey Duncan (John), eleven grandchildren, Kylee Sickafus (Mike), Briana Kirkwood (Andrew), Doug Kirkwood, Alaina Giannetti (Joe), Domenica Laurenza, Domenic Laurenza, Kaitlyn Sorensen (Phil), Kierston Blenheim (Alex) and Tyler Anderson (Nicole),John Duncan, and Charlene Cumberledge (Jake); fifteen great-grandchildren, Brayden and Adelynn Sickafus, Kathryn Giannetti, Lily Kohser, Elliot Kirkwood, Declan Seger, Easton and Murphy Sorensen, Myles, Piper and Elosie Blenheim, Wyatt Anderson, Johnny Duncan, Owen and Obrey Cumberledge. In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta "Bobbie" Bartley Miller, his brothers, Albert, Wayne, Marvin and Irl Bartley and one sister, Phyllis Gruca and two sons John and Jared Bartley. Yolanda "Viola" Malizia, 90, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of November 23, 2023 at UPMC Jameson. Born in New Castle on April 3, 1933 Viola was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Masters) Mangino. Viola married her beloved husband, Joseph "Red" Malizia, Jr. on May 9, 1953. Red preceded her in death on October 18, 2007. Viola was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Dukes. In the early years Viola was a very good athlete, she participated in the Great City Bowling Championship. She also enjoyed playing softball, dancing and going roller skating. Viola will always be remembered as a "top notch" baker and cook. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Viola's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. Viola is survived by her children, Samuel Joe Malizia (Mauvette), Mary Jo Burchfield (Richard, Sr. ), and Emma Jo Yoursh (Marc Sr. ), her brother, Joseph Mangino, Jr. , two sisters-in-law, Judy Mangino and Barbara Mangino, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Viola was preceded in death by six brothers, Frank (Snooky), Ralph, Andrew, William, Lawrence and Michael Mangino and two sisters, Josephine Cwynar and Nicolina Vivelo. Mabel G. Galizia, 87, of Union Township passed away the morning of November 21, 2023 at her residence. Born in Clark, PA on July 12, 1936, Mabel was the daughter of the late Harold and Sarah (Butler) Winner. On September 29, 1956 Mabel married her beloved husband, Frank Galizia. Frank preceded her in death on August 9, 2018. Mabel began her career with the Union School District working in the cafeteria. She then went on to be the Secretary to the principal at Union and the Secretary to the Principal at the Lawrence County Vo-Tech. She ended her career teaching Computer Science courses for adults in the evening at Vo-Tech. Mabel was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. She enjoyed sewing and baking. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mabel's greatest joy and accomplishment was taking care of and spending time with her family. Mabel is survived by her children, Toni Ann Badger (Donald) of New Castle, Dr. Frank Galizia (Stephanie) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Mark Galizia and Stephen Galizia, both of New Castle, seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Winner and her sister, Sally Winner. Visitation will be on Saturday 10:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S.
