September 21, 2022

Robert W. "Bob" Tapio: 71 years old of Wadsworth, IL passed away peacefully Sunday September 18, 2022, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. He was born February 23, 1951 and married Louise Vonic on August 12, 1972. Bob worked as a highly regarded auto mechanic specializing in classic cars for Strang Automotive in Waukegan, IL since 1975. You could always find him in the 2nd bay, on the Dyno or at the carburetor bench. Day or night, weekday or weekend - his family, friends and customers always knew they could find him "at the shop". On the rare occasion Bob took a vacation, he would enjoy nature in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing "out to camp" with his brothers and nephews while cooking Bob burgers and dozens of eggs during hunting season. Bob also enjoyed playing golf and bowling with his buddies. Many wondered why Bob spent so much time working. If you asked him, he'd say he did it to take care of "his girls". His number one priority as a husband, dad, and Pop-Pop was to make sure his family was well taken care of. Bob is survived by his wife Louise, his daughter Dana (Matthew) Roebuck, and his beloved grand-daughter Olivia. Additional survivors include his mother Lorraine Mercier and his nine siblings: Jim, Charlene, David, Donald, Bruce, Debbie, Dana Joel, Jon and Michelle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his father Jim, and grandparents Charlie and Lily. A celebration of Bob's life will take place later this fall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and family donate blood in their community or monetary donations can be made to the American Red Cross, specifying "I want to support Blood Services", in Bob's memory. Arrangements were entrusted to the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH. Please sign the online guest book for Bob at www. strangfh. com Memorial DonationThere are no gallery images.Show more
