Gertraude Pink, 85, of Milford, DE passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE Born in Munich, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Karoline (Wintersburger) Gundel Gertraude was married to the love of her life, Col Gordon S Pink, for 66 years She was a homemaker as well as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother known to all as "Oma" She loved gardening, sewing, interior decorating, angels, and any animals She especially loved caring for her many beloved Scottie dogs that she had over the years Gertraude will also always be remembered for her passion for the Christmas Season Anyone walking past her home during the holiday season would be entertained daily with the joyful sounds of Christmas music from around the world In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Irmgard Metz and her love, Gordon, who passed in 2011 She is survived by her children Diana Martorano (Matthew), Debbie Musumeci (John), Ray Pink (Cindy), Bryan Pink (Andrew), Doreen Houser and Dale Pink (Heather) a sister Stutzi Stieglmair, as well as 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and her beloved dog, her Westi "Peaches" Services will be private at the convenience of the family In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Grassroots Rescue by going online at www grrde org and go to the donate page Arr by Lofland Funeral Home Letters of condolence may be shared with the family at www loflandandmcknatt com To to the family or in memory of Gertraude Pink, please

Joseph Andrew Zammetti, "Joe" age 58, of Milford, DE passed away after a long battle with Diabetes, Liver Failure, and Liver cancer on Thursday, November 30, 2023. He was surrounded by his family and went peacefully. Joe was born on October 1st 1965 to his father Andrew J. Zammetti and mother Nancy M. Dunfee in Lakewood, NJ. Joe was raised in NJ and decided to follow his parents to Delaware after his father retired. He wanted to raise children in a less hectic environment of the fast pace of NJ. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle until his accident and was motivated to leave the hospital quick enough to become a proud dad and raise his beloved and only daughter Emily. Though they spurred each other in loving battles of wit, he was proud that his daughter Emily could carry on his great sense of humor. Most who knew Joe knew him as very funny, witty, sarcastic and the life of the party. Joe was a programmer with the State of Delaware after his wife encouraged him to go back to school to learn a trade. He enjoyed his job until he got ill and had to take early retirement which drove his family crazy until he found a way to stay busy. Joe's favorite pastimes were riding his motorcycle, boating in the Nanticoke River and Lewes Bay, listening to his daughter squeal when his boat would hit another boaters' wake, going on lighthouse tours in Lewes with his wife and daughter, driving his Mustang convertible, spending time with family, taking his daughter camping, road trips to new places, visiting friends and pet birds at Victoria's restaurant and boardwalk hotel, visiting his daughter while she worked at the Toy and Kite Company in Rehoboth, sitting out back on patio with our friend and lawn guy Cecil on Thursdays, eating cheese wontons with our friend Lenny, admired and maintained his love of his rose garden, watching the hummingbirds in the spring and summer months, cook outs, loved to cook for those he loved, he was in the process of writing a book, game nights, crossword puzzles, playing chess against his daughter, Blackjack, Poker, lottery, bake off and scrabble, sitting at the beach, music, watching football and rooting for his underdog team the Giants, owning his own computer company Blue Hen Computers and Pugwear inspired by his beloved dog "Pugsley". his newest love and beloved Bearded dragons (his emotional support animals) Lady Zeus, Hercules and Liana. His favorite color was blue, favorite foods were pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, shrimp, steak, movie popcorn, cheeseburgers and fries and his occasional Slurpee's and Pepsi. One of the funniest people that everyone will say they have known. Always had a great sense of humor. Always had time for comedy even through his entire illness. He always found himself believing that he was lame, when indeed he was anything but. Joe wanted to own his own food truck, and he wanted to open a no kill sanctuary for all animals. John "Jack" I. McCall, age 90, of Milford, DE passed away on November 23, 2023 at his daughter's home in Wilmington, DE. Born to Samuel and Helen McCall in Salem, NJ, he has resided in Wilmington, DE for 2 years, previously from Paulsboro, NJ and Swedesboro, NJ. He worked for DuPont for over 30 years as a sheet metal mechanic. Jack proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. In his younger years, Jack played semi-professional baseball for Paulsboro A. A. , he also played organized softball until he was 50 years old, when he led the team in hits. He was very active and enjoyed going fishing, camping, crabbing and playing darts with his family and friends. He has been an Eagles fan for 80 years and was a diehard Phillies fan. Jack volunteered at Underwood Hospital in NJ for 15 years after retiring from Dupont. He was a member and past president of Paulsboro Sportsman Association. Later in life, Jack spent most of his time researching genealogy and documenting his family history. Mostly Jack loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by 2 siblings, James McCall, and Marianne Simpson and two children, John R. McCall and MaryEllen McCall and his wife of 60 years and the love of his life, Janet (Feo). He is survived by two children; Wendalin Bower, and Ellie (Michael) Donovan, a daughter-in-law, Carmen Superville, four siblings; Joe (Donna) McCall, Alice (Bill) Payne, and five grandchildren, Kevin Yearwood, Jake Helmes, Hannah Helmes, Chloe Helmes and Nikolai Paloney. He loved sharing his knowledge of football, history, and many stories of his brother, who was his best friend. A memorial will be private and held at a later date. On Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at sunset, surrounded by his wife and children, John H Sammons II, passed away. He was 71 years old. John was a native of Milford, Delaware born on May 27th, 1952, to the late John H Sr and Roselle Sammons. John was part of the last graduating class in the original Milford High School. He played in the high school band at the young age of 12 and performed at the Blue and Gold Games at the University of Delaware. His passion of music led him to play all the brass instruments and become a very talented Trumpet player. John was an Eagle Scout which he attributed to his success in education and life. John attended Goldie Beacon College where he received a degree in Business Management and then attended the University of Delaware and received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He started his career at Delmarva Power and Light where he worked his way up from maintenance to Control Room Operator. Continuing his career when he moved to Pennsylvania, John worked within the Power Plant Industry for over 30 years and brought VPP certification to many plants in the Montenay Power Corporation. In August of 1985, John married the love of his life, Cyndee at the Stone Barn in Kennett Square, PA. During his time in Pennsylvania, he and his family had lived in several communities including, Phoenixville, Wayne, Devon and Limerick. He developed many unforgettable relationships with colleagues, neighbors, and friends throughout this time of his life. John enjoyed traveling with his wife Cyndee, their children and their best friends Stan, Wendy, Dane and Sheila. He loved spending time on the water fishing in the Delaware Bay with family and friends. At his home, he took pride in the appearance of his yard and would be seen riding around on his John Deere tractor. He would also operate large tractor equipment to help his friend CP King. "You can take the boy off the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the boy. " In June 2013, John and his wife Cyndee retired to his beloved hometown of Milford, Delaware. After 4 years of retirement, John decided to return to the workforce, working for the Department of Labor for the State of Delaware, starting as an OSHA Safety Consultant doing what he loved best, teaching companies and their employees how to work safely. As a member of the Milford Elks Lodge #2401, John was a 2 term Exalted Ruler, 5 Year Trustee, Chairman of the Board and finally Chairman of Government relations at the State Level. He loved his Lodge and all it stands for. He was especially grateful to be part of the Family in needs program with the support of fellow members and friends of the lodge. John is survived by his wife Cyndee of 38 years, his children: Lisa Smith, John Sammons III, Stanley Sugzdinis, Laurie Sammons and Christina (Sammons) Strunk and her husband Michael; his grandchildren: Jack, Mackenzie, Madison, AJ, Christopher, Kelsea, Samuel, Tomas, Samantha and Michael John; and his brother David Sammons. He will be remembered for his humor and laughter, his guidance and teaching, his caring and courage, and his amazing readiness to always be there for us. John was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by many lives he touched. Services are Saturday November 18th at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, DE. Visitation from 11 am to 1 pm with services starting at 1 pm. Interment to follow at Lincoln Cemetery. William Hubbard Macklin Jr. "MAC" 88 Resident of Milford, DE passed away peacefully Nov. 14, 2023 at Delaware Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lincoln, DE to William H. Macklin Sr. and Ethel Dean Macklin. After graduating Milton High School, he obtained his Xray technician certification in Philadelphia, PA. He was employed in several local hospitals over many years. After enlisting in the US Army Reserves Medical Corp. , he was transferred to Fitzsimmons Army Hospital Denver, CO till his Honorable Discharge in 1963. He was also employed at Webb Paving Co. as office personnel, as well as, obtaining his real estate license serving the surrounding communities. In 1984 he entered entrepreneurship with Charles "Chuck" Kable purchasing the historic "Marshall House" on Front St. in Milford where it was renamed "The Banking House Inn Restaurant". In 1984 they lovely restored the 1787 mansion and received an "Outstanding Improvement Award". In 1986 they accepted six awards from the Chronicle for favorite restaurant poll, as well as, receiving admirable recommendations from area food critics. Word spread quickly of the restaurant’s impeccable reputation for fine food and entertainment. They had the pleasure of hosting many family and community events. He spoke of many colorful stories with guest such as, President Joe Biden (Senator at the time) and wife Jill hosting their southern Delaware Christmas events. Other popular guest was "Darla" from the Little Rascal TV show, David Hawk – Mr. USA & Mr. World bodybuilder, just to name a few. The people person that he was he enjoyed entertaining and had a flare for cooking but also enjoyed stepping out at his favorite restaurant where everyone knew his name. His interest included playing the piano, a competitive card game, spending hours on a puzzle and an avid reader of a good book. He was fond of animals, feeding stray cats begging at his door. He was well known in the community where he never meant a stranger, immediately engaging them in conversation or a comment with his quick wit and dry humor. Preceding him were sisters Edith "Jessify" Reedy, Irma Schurman and Audie Wilkins. He leaves behind his brother Charles Macklin (Joyce). A son, William "Blair" Macklin (Cheryl), grandchildren, Nicole Macklin, Robert Macklin (Laurie) four great grandchildren, Cole and Landen Macklin, Joshua Hodge and Rylee Farris. Several nieces and nephews and their families. We are truly thankful to all his family and many friends who were there for him up to the end. The local Hospice team went above and beyond with their compassionate care for him and the family. Robert "Bobby" Chalmers, Jr. , 80, of Milford, Delaware passed away peacefully at home on September 17th, after a long battle with cancer. Robert was born on April 16, 1943, in Wilmington, Delaware, the only son of Robert and Mildred Chalmers. Post education, he went to work at Delaware Electrical Cooperative, retiring after a 43-year career. During that time, he was an active member of the union, as well as holding the position of President of the IBEW Local 2270 union. He loved serving others. His volunteerism spanned multiple area fire companies. He was a lifetime member of Memorial Fire Company, serving in various roles as a Building Superintendent, Fire Police, and on the Board of Directors. He had 50 years of loyal, hardworking, committed, and dedicated service to three different fire companies. Robert loved sports and played high school basketball as well as playing in adult basketball and baseball/softball leagues with friends. He coached Little League baseball and local youth football. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Norma Jean Chalmers, his daughter, Michelle Chalmers Phillips, his son, Robert Chalmers III and wife Ronica, his daughter, Laura Chalmers Wedel and her husband, Jay Wedel, and his son, Michael Chalmers and fiancée Amanda Sharadin, by his grandchildren; Stephen Chalmers and wife Kristen, Jordan Wedel and husband Patrick Hughes, Arden Phillips, Jaymeson Wedel, Tyler Chalmers and fiancée Riley Wood, Jackson Phillips, and Jude Wedel, Addy Smith, a great-granddaughter, Hannah Chalmers, two loving sisters, Sarah Botte, and Ruth Brown, and his lifelong, dearest friend, Alan Jester. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rober Chalmers, Sr. , and Mildred Smart Chalmers, as well as a sister, Shirley Collison. He cherished his family and friends. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, and a member of a local hunting club. He supported each of his children and all of their endeavors and took great pleasure in watching them start families of their own. He loved and was proud of his grandchildren and loved seeing them in school events and attended as many of their sports games as possible over the years. The family will receive visitors at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, from 11AM to 1PM on Friday 9/22, with a funeral service at 1PM. Interment is Milford Community Cemetery.
