Born in the enchanting town of Atri, overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the Abruzzo region of Italy, Carlo was the beloved son of Filomena and Giuseppe "Peppino," and a cherished brother to Paolo. At a tender age, Carlo ventured to Milan, learning to tailor from the world's best artisans, honing his skills, and crafting custom menswear that showcased his artistic talents. His holiday visits to Atri were marked by a delightful tradition--gifting the family with the rare and delectable Panettone, a gesture that embodied Carlo's innate generosity. His younger brother Paolo eventually became a priest, ordained in 1967. In the mid-60s, Carlo embarked on a new chapter, coming to the United States, where he found a welcoming home with his paternal aunt Italia and her husband Leo. Their shared abode became a haven for Carlo for a decade until Italia and Leo retired to Florida. In his new homeland, Carlo ventured into the garment industry, showcasing his talent and dedication. His tales of the great performances at Teatro alla Scala, and the camaraderie of a select group of enthusiastic applauders, showcased Carlo's vibrant spirit. His success as a tailor in Italy was but a prelude to his illustrious career in the United States, where he worked in various capacities in the garment industry before finding a home at Ralph Lauren in 1974. There, Carlo excelled as the Quality Control Manager, culminating in a remarkable 37-year tenure. The company celebrated his retirement with an unparalleled party, a testament to the profound impact he had on colleagues and friends. Carlo's professional journey took him around the globe--India, Turkey, Japan, China, and rural areas of the US--in pursuit of excellence for Ralph Lauren's high-end Collection and Black label lines. His summers in the seaside haven of Pineto became a cherished tradition upon retirement. A devoted fan of Italian soccer and Formula 1 racing, Carlo's passions extended beyond the workplace. His infectious kindness and easy-going demeanor endeared him to people across the world. To know Carlo was to be his friend, a testament to the sweetness, kindness, gentleness, and humility that defined his character. His captivating blue eyes and radiant smile illuminated the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. Stephen Willsea

Stephen Willsea

***Obituary of Stephen Willsea***Rarely in life does one meet a man who truly epitomizes the wild frontier spirit that lives on in the best of America. Stephen Willsea was such a man. He was the first born of the four sons of Doreen and Arnold Willsea of Dobbs Ferry, New York. Stephen is survived by his brothers Peter and William, and William's wife Lorraine. Sadly, he was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robbie, and Robbie's beloved wife Camille. Steve was very proud of the fact that the Willsea family can be traced back to First Lieutenant Daniel Wiltse (1775 - 1832), who fought fiercely for the Americans under the command of General George Washington and General Rochambeau during the Revolutionary War. Like his ancestor, Steve was an avid outdoorsman, compromised for no one, despised bureaucracy and tyranny, and spent his life as a man of principle and honor. His twin passions were his love of bowhunting and gourmet cooking. Long before the commercialization of hunting, fishing, and artisanal cuisine, Steve was pioneering the honest, uncompromising lifestyle of bowhunting, crafting primitive weapons that are works of art, and creating meals that live on long after they were shared. A venison Chateaubriand he cooked in 1997 was the topic of discussion this last Thanksgiving. He enjoyed his work as a chef at Hudson Social, where his exacting standards, creativity, and meticulous preparation were not only encouraged, but appreciated by the owner, Matt, and the many guests. One of the most remarkable things about Steve was his personal magnetism and charisma. He had time for everyone, although he did not suffer fools gladly, and his friends knew him as a man who always had your back. His loud laugh and larger than life personality brought an edge of wild fun wherever he went and whatever he did. He was a truly chivalrous and kind soul. Steve was blessed not only with hundreds of friends, but friends who transcended friendship and became family. Sean Bucci was a childhood friend and lifelong bowhunting companion, and Sean's wife Dawn considered Steve a brother. Steve also counted Vicki Travis as a long time companion and dear friend of over twenty years. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Tiffany Bazzoni. There are far too many memories to share here, from the countless adventures shared by Billy and Steven while bowhunting, including teaching Billy's wife Lorraine to hunt and fish, to time spent with his mother, her second husband Bunny, and Peter in England. There are also many adventures that will live on in legendary tales told by the lucky few who were there. In the "Last of the Mohicans" trilogy, by James Fenimore Cooper, there is a line, "Hawk-eye! My fathers call me to the happy hunting grounds!" Steve was taken from this earth far too young, but know this: that unique spirit lives on forever with us. Aim high - time flies.Show more
