Geraldine Frances Roll "Gerry", age 88 of Macomb, and formerly of Warren, Michigan passed away on September 9, 2023. She is the loving mother of Dawn Fletcher (Dave), Robin Pomaville (James), Terry Roll (Sylvia), Todd Roll (Vicki), and daughter-in-law Nancy Roll; Dear sister of Lois Sloan and sister-in-law of Denise Burke; Adored grandmother of 14, great-grandmother of 24, and great-great-grandmother of 9; Treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews. Gerry is preceded in death by her husband John Roll, and her sons John Roll Jr, Jerry Roll, and Kenn Roll. Gerry was born in Detroit, Michigan, and lived much of her life in Warren. She married her high school sweetheart, John Roll on January 29, 1954, and were together for 67 years. They retired to Lincoln, Michigan for about 20 years. Gerry was proud to have been a majorette in high school, and she also loved sports. For many years, Gerry also taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed working out in her yard, and being around those she loved. Gerry was one of the sweetest people you could meet. She will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 2-8 PM, with a service at 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan. "Steven Payok, of Warren, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the age of 79. He was born November 17, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John and Anne Payok. Beloved husband of Sherry. Dearest father of Steven (Donna), Shelley (Myron) Sowirka, Scott, and Susan (Tom) Bellos. Loving grandfather of Shelby, Steven, Rachel (Matt), Alexandra, Zachary, Mia, Thomas \u0026quot;TJ\u0026quot;, Nathan and great grandfather of Lilly. Dear brother of Delores (Vic) VanSlambrouck, Melanie (Eugene) Kady, Maryann (Bill) Lightfoot, and Danielle (Bill) Fried. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Steven proudly, honorably, and faithfully served his country in the Unites States Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. Steve proudly worked and retired from General Dynamics Land Systems Division. He was passionate about the tanks he built and the relationships he had for a lifetime! His time working at General Motors was his celebration time, coming home like Santa every Friday! Working on the Chevy Avalanche made him proud! Steve enjoyed Classic/Muscle Cars and was always up for taking a spin in one his sons\u0027 cars. He also loved going up north to the cottage in East Tawas and driving the golf cart, spending time with his beloved dogs, and cherished making memories with his family. "Thomas Patrick Murphy passed away on 6, December, 2023 at the age of 86. Tom was born in 1937 in Dublin, Ireland, and emigrated to the United States when he was 17 years old. Upon arrival in the US, he moved to Detroit where he worked as a bartender at the Gaelic League, an Irish Club in downtown Detroit. Tom enlisted in the Army in 1957 and spent a 30 year career serving his country around the world, ultimately achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Tom was in the Armored Cavalry and served in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. His last army assignment was at the US Tank Automotive Command in Warren, Michigan. He retired from the military in 1989 after 30 years of service, and was recognized with the Legion of Merit. After his very successful military career, Tom went to work for Focus Hope in Detroit, a non-profit organization that provides inner city teens and adults with training and trade skills for job placement. Tom was a Dean at Focus Hope for 20 years and enjoyed having a positive impact on lives of the people he helped. Tom met the love of his life, Mary (May) in Dublin in 1959. They married in 1961 and enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage. Tom had two sons, Brian and Michael, and 9 grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the VFW in New Baltimore and giving treats to any animal that came near him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with military honors at 5:30 pm and a rosary at 6:00 pm, at the Wasik Funeral Home at 35259 Twenty-Three Mile Road in New Baltimore. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 13 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Baltimore, with a viewing at 10:00 am.
