Geraldine James Moore, age 90, passed away peacefully in her home early morning, Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was born to Jim and Gladys (Blackwell) James on May 10, 1933 in Henderson County. At the early age of 8, Geraldine lost her Mom . At that time, she became responsible for many household chores, along with giving her younger sister, Dorothy, special love and assurance. At the age of 11, her father remarried Irene Bartholomew. From that day forward, Irene loved them as their own. No doubt, God placed them together. Geraldine married Charline Moore on July 28, 1951. At that time, she joined Chapel Hill Baptist Church where upon death, she was still a member. She had become a Christian at an early age. She so loved her church family and served throughout the years. The Moores were sharecroppers of "Woodland Farms" owned by Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Holt. This is where they chose to raise their children. Geraldine was the epitome of a "Farmer’s Wife". She supported her husband and worked along with him in the fields. At the same time, she was always focused on the Lord, and her husband, children and home. She was definitely a biblical woman, discerning, gracious, generous, and kind. To know her was to love her. In later years, Geraldine was employed by King’s Florist where she absolutely loved designing floral arrangements. She loved her friends that she worked with. She worked several years with her daughter’s business, Hi-Tech Printing. There again, she enjoyed her position and the employee/customer interaction. Geraldine was known for her smile and her love to all. She welcomed so many into her home through the years to sit around her dinner table and eat her homecooked meals. She definitely had a servant’s heart. She never failed to ask, "Where are you from?" "Where do you go to church?" "If you don’t have a church home, come join us at Chapel Hill. " Geraldine’s many hobbies included sewing, cooking, canning (known as the Pickle Lady to many), gardening, flowers including hundreds of iris and daylilies, West TN Iris Society, and West TN Daylily Society. She and Charline loved their day road trips and eating out with great friends. She was so involved in her grandchildren’s lives from infants to adults. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Charline Moore; her son, Randall Moore; a brother, David James; a sister, Janice James Johnson; and a special niece, Denice Jones Brewer. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Judy and Michael Rodgers, Marsha and Terry Blount; grandchildren, Jim and Jessica Moore, Leah and Garrett McElroy, Micah and Rachel Blount; step-grandchildren, Luke and Roxanne Rodgers, Cody Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Aden and Allie Moore, Lacey and Carson McElroy, Chloe Rodgers, Milo Rodgers; a sister, Lily Karen James; very special to her heart, Dennis Jones, Donna Jones Parkins, Wayne Russell, Paulette Epperson, Wilma Pickard; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
