Hazel Qualls Doyle,88, long time resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia was called home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2024. She was born February 8, 1936, in Perry County Tennessee to the late James Franklin and Willie Mae Barham Qualls. On October 1, 1961, Hazel married the love of her life, James S. Doyle. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage. After raising their children, Hazel and Jim ran a successful furniture business for 20 years, retiring in 2004. Hazel, affectionately known as Grandma Hazel, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt friend, and faithful servant of the Lord. She loved taking care of her family and spending time with her loved ones, traveling, cooking, sewing, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching soap operas, listening to country music, tending to her plants and attending church. She blessed everyone she met with loving-kindness and gentleness. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son Michael Doyle, sisters Mary, Marie, Emma Nell, brother LeRoy Qualls, and mother-in-law Murial. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband Jim (long time member of AA), sons Bobby Lineberry of Chesapeake, Steve Doyle of Virginia Beach, daughter Kim O’Dell of Norfolk. Hazel also left behind grandchildren Mistie, Shawn, Christie, Jennifer, Kimberly, Breigh and Timothy; great-grandchildren Shawn, Tucker, Acelynn, Jeffrey, Gianna, Destiny, Joseph, Raelin, Adalyn and Evangel; great-great grandchildren Nathaniel, Bella, and Ronin; sister-in-law Muriel; niece Jennifer (Mike); great niece Mia; great nephew Brody; countless nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones will forever be remembered. A celebration of life will be held February 24, 2024 at 11:00am at Bethel Methodist Church 465 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23457.

Beverly Rae Welch Green Sawyer of Westminster Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay, Virginia Beach, Va passed away on February 13, 2024 at the age of 101. She was born in Norfolk County, Va on October 12, 1922 to the late William R. Welch and Mable Sanger Welch. Beverly’s mother passed away just before her first birthday. She was raised by her grandparents, William and Laura Atkinson. She was a graduate of Maury High School Class of 1941 in Norfolk. She worked as an Administrative Secretary for 20 years and retired from National Cargo Bureau.Beverly was predeceased by her devoted husbands; Clydell L. Green, married 38 years and William R. Sawyer, married 13 years and step-child, William E. Sawyer. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Carolyn Swaim, Clydell (Buddy) Green, Jr. and his wife, Melody and Richard W. Green and his wife, Ellen, her grandchildren; Kathy Rae Gray, Holly Bickford and her husband, Darrohn, Diana Hubbard and her husband Jeff, Amy Brown and her husband Randy, her Great-grandchildren; Courtni Spear, Caitlin Hudson, Summer Maschinot and Erin and Kate Hubbard as well as step-child, Barry Sawyer, 3 Step-Grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.She enjoyed her last 20 years living on the Chesapeake Bay and the beach that she loved so much. Beverly and her family want to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers in the Hoy Center who took wonderful care of her until the end.A Memorial Service will be held on March 5, 2024 at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road Virginia Beach, Va. at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held one hour prior at 10:00AM. A private burial will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bayside Baptist Church T.W.B. Fund or to a charity of your choice.

Rose Marie White (nee Curling), 82, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2024. Rose was a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach and retired from Shear Class salon as a hairdresser. Many of her clients had been with her more than fifty years and were counted among her many friends. She was a lifelong member of London Bridge Baptist Church, a former Sunday School teacher, and, along with her dear friend Lee Craddock, took particular pleasure in her work in the nursery there. She is survived by her son, Forrest White (Marie), of Chesapeake; her daughter, Robin Slaughter (Scott), of Howe, TX; three sisters, Lois Hodges, of Williamsburg; Betty Curling Mills, of Virginia Beach; and Sheila Curling (Tom Bronson), of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Audrey Curling, and a brother, Robert Curling, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, 10:00 am at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 am. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on February 23, 2024 at 9:00am, funeral and interment following at 10:00am at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home.

William Craig Dienhart, (“Billy”, to family and “Bill”, to friends), 68, passed away on February 14, 2024. Billy is survived by brothers, David and Jim; sisters, Karen and Kathy, and four nephews. Billy was predeceased by his parents, Walter (Wally), and his mother Edythe. Billy shared many years his life with his long time girlfriend, Nancy Dean, and after her death he met and married Connie Wood, who also predeceased him. Billy loved Virginia Beach and spent most of his life there. He had his struggles, but in his fifties, Billy turned his life around and got his college degree. He subsequently got a great job with NOAA, which he loved. He traveled, built structures that withstood Category 5 hurricanes and made great friends. He made his family very proud! The family will have a graveside service on Monday, February 26th, 2024 at 12pm at Princess Anne Memorial Park located at 1110 N Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.

Howard E. Gill, Jr. died peacefully on February 13th, 2024. Born in Richmond, Virginia on September 5th, 1933, he was the first child of Francis and Howard Gill. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Howard “Mo” Elmo Gill, III (Amelia), John Ashburn Gill (Susan) and Patrick McGuire Gill (Clay), 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece, Julie Messick, and two nephews, Jay Todd, and Gill Todd.He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann Wagner Gill, his second wife, Hazel Hanlon Gill, and his sister, Ann Gill Todd.Howard grew up in Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, he attended the University of Virginia and earned his B.A. in Religious Studies in 1956. Howard was elected to serve as the President of the student body and Chairman of the Honor Committee his senior year. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. After graduating, Howard joined the United States Navy. He was deployed on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Rosevelt and retired as Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Navy Reserves.Upon completing his military service, Howard joined Thomas Rutherford Insurance. He spent his carrier in the commercial insurance industry until he retired from HRH Insurance in 1998. Howard specialized in providing coverage for construction companies and was active in many professional organizations including Associated General Contractors of Virginia, Builders and Contractors Exchange, Tidewater Utility Construction, and Hampton Roads Utility and Heavy Contractors Association. His clients always respected him for his honesty and integrity.Howard was also dedicated to his community. He was a former Chairman of the Norfolk YMCA. He was a member of the board of the Barrier Island Center and the Princess Anne Country Club. Howard was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach for 61 years and served as a church officer for 19 years. He loved the outdoors, especially the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where he was a member of the Cedar Island Hunt Club.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 in First Presbyterian Church, 300 36th Street, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, Barrier Island Center, or the YMCA of South Hampton Roads.
