Gerald Merfeld Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) Merfeld passed away peacefully, early Monday morning, May 8, 2023, with his family by his side. Jerry was born in Monticello, Iowa on May 28, 1942. He was a lifelong resident of Monticello, attending Sacred Heart Catholic School. After a stint in the United States Navy, Jerry was employed at various sale barns in the area. He enjoyed being a resident of Pinicon Place, in Anamosa, for the past 5 years. In his later years Jerry was an avid reader of anything western or history. He enjoyed the activities at Pinicon Place, especially playing bingo and doing puzzles. He rarely missed a Chicago Cubs game on tv, his favorite activity was playing the card game Shanghai with his family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Elizabeth (Redmond) Merfeld, Ash and a sister, Mary Baker. He leaves behind 4 siblings, Louise (Ed) Harn, Cedar Rapids, Richard (Sandy) Merfeld, Tama, Nancy (Larry) Meier, Monticello, and Barbara (Mark) Embree, Arizona. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Pinicon Place for all their compassionate care during his stay with them.
