Gerald Harms of Cullom, IL, passed away on September 9, 2023 at Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac, IL. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Calvert Martin Funeral Home in Cullom, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services also at the funeral home, with Pastor Jarrod Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow the services in West Lawn Cemetery in Cullom, IL. Memorials in honor of Gerald may be made to the Cullom Historical Museum or OSF Hospice. Calvert Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac is in charge of arrangements. Gerald was born on April 5, 1936 on the farm near Cullom, IL. He was the son of Clarence and Elsie (Ellinger) Harms. He was married to Marian McFarden for 37 years. Surviving are his children, Kaye (Mike) Toohill of Bloomington, IL, Tom Harms of Riverton, IL; close friend and caregiver, Karen Moritz of Cullom; grandchildren, Matt (Robyn) Harms of Sherman, IL, Jake (Suellyn) Harms of Mt. Pulaski, IL, Katie Toohill of Philadelphia, PA and Drew Toohill of Champaign, IL; great grandchildren, Victoria Harms, Reed Smith, Lance Harms, Kaitlyn Hudley and Payton Harms; 2 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leroy and Wayne Harms. He graduated Cullom High School in the Class of 1954 and was recently attending Pontiac Bible Church in Pontiac, IL. He was a member of the Midwest Trucking Association and a past member of the Cullom Historical Society. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He farmed with his son Tom, for many years but his work passion was Trucking. He drove his Mack truck for more than 66 years. He enjoyed going for rides on his motorcycle and snowmobiling. J Orin Taylor, 82, of Cullom, Illinois passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at OSF St. James Medical Center in Pontiac, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at Cullom United Methodist Church. The burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Cullom, Illinois where military rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Cullom and one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Cullom is in charge of the arrangements. J Orin was born on September 19, 1940 in Fairbury, Illinois, the son of Glenn Eugene and Olive Fern (Gallup) Taylor. He married Diana Sue Fulkerson on June 10, 1962 in Streator. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2017. He is survived by his sons, Douglas (Christel) Taylor and Keith (Angela) Taylor, both of Cullom; six grandchildren, Matthew (Emma Philipps) Taylor, Rebecca (Richard) Larson, Benjamin (Raevyn Kindred) Taylor, Zachery Taylor, Danielle Taylor, and Alexis Taylor; one great-grandbaby on the way; and his sisters, Leatha Poshard of Bloomington and Verla Jefferson of Carol Stream. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. J Orin was in the United States Army. He served as a Commander in the Cullom American Legion Skinner-Trost Post 122. He was a farmer. He was involved in the Farm Bureau at both State and County levels as well as his work with the Young Farmers. He enjoyed travelling and was able to do so with his work with the Soybean Association. Larry Merle Haag, 81, of Bloomington and formerly of Cullom passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, with beloved family by his side. Larry was born the second of four children to Merle and Carol (Berlett) Haag in Fairbury, IL, on June 30, 1941. He graduated from Cullom High School in 1959 and he married Betty Lou Ellinger on August 24, 1969, at the Charlotte United Methodist River Church. Larry farmed the family farm near Cullom for 30 years and always had additional jobs to provide for his family. He worked for Standard Oil Company both at the Cullom Fertilizer Plant and then as a bulk distributor of petroleum products. He owned and operated his own trucking business, hauling grain and working road construction in the off season. Larry and Betty moved from the family farm to the 'big city' of Bloomington in 1999 where he took a job with the State of Illinois Highway Department. He made many friends there and gained the nickname "Happy "because he was always smiling. After retiring in 2011, the Haag's loved spending winters at their home in Apache Junction, AZ. Larry enjoyed many of the activities at their resort and made many lasting friendships. He loved his girls more than life itself and truly enjoyed every minute with his grandchildren. He loved going to his kids' events and then later on, his grandkids' events - rarely missing. He sometimes travelled hundreds of miles to watch their ball games. He especially loved camping, boating, and taking vacations with the whole family, always finding time for a nap. He was an active member of Morningstar United Methodist Church, helping with the annual Pumpkin Patch and managing the lawn maintenance for many years. He loved his Chicago Cubs and remained an avid fan even when it wasn't easy. One of his most cherished moments was attending Game 4 of the 2016 World Series. Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty; 3 daughters, Kim (Joe) Kao, Kandi (Mike) Schneider, and Shannon (Troy) Meier; 8 grandchildren, Lauren (Zach) Schrad, Morgan Kao, Jordan Kao, John Michael (Abbey) Schneider, Rhett Schneider, Trevor Meier, Jayce Meier, Derek Meier; great-grandchildren, Marin Schrad, little Levi Schrad, expected in June; 2 sisters, Carol Lynn (Ron) Baker, Susan Haag; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Carol Haag; sister, Sharon Wittenberg; and brother-in-law, Ralph Wittenberg. The family would like to thank all of the medical staff and caregivers who cared for Larry both at home and in the hospital during the past few months. With your help, we were able to bring him home and make him comfortable in his final days. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4:00 p. m. - 7:00 p. m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Juanita "Nita" F. Miller 88 of Cullom, IL died Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Friday September 9, 2022 at 11:00am at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cullom, IL. with Rev. Gabe Baumgardner officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until the hour of services at the church. Inurnment will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom. Memorials in Juanita's name may be made to the family wishes. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Cullom is handling the arrangements. Juanita was born on May 13, 1934 in Adamsville, OH a daughter of Dwight and Helen (Kemp) Green. She married Eldon W. "Smiley" Miller on January 1, 1955. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2014. Survivors include: one son Kim (Brenda) Miller of Cullom, IL; and one daughter Sue (Jim) Brandt of Kankakee, IL four grandchildren: Jimmy Brandt, Devan (Kaitlyn) Hindman, Kayleigh Miller and Mark Miller; three great-grandchildren: Allie, Annie and Archer Hindman, sister-in-laws, Jean Green, Alberta Adreon, Joanne (Gene) Ressler. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Eldon "Smiley" Miller, her parents, grandparents and one brother: Gene "Beno" Green. Juanita was a graduate of Kempton High School. She was employed at Cullom National Bank and later was a bookkeeper of Miller Plumbing & Heating in Cullom. She was a member of the Cullom American Auxiliary, Den Mother Pack 88, Lydia Circle of St John's Lutheran Church, a Coffee Club that lasted for decades and St. John's Lutheran Church in Cullom. Orville "Red" L. Floyd, 86, of Cullom, Illinois passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. A Funeral Service will be held at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Cullom on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 11:00 am with Father William Keebler officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home with rosary to be recited at 4:45 pm. Burial will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Cullom following the service. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Orville was born December 20, 1935, in Somerset, Kentucky, the son of Float and Octavia (Rainwater) Floyd. He married Jean Billerbeck Hogan on August 7, 1965, in Momence, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2013. The couple have three sons, John (Debra) Hogan of Hastings, Florida, Josh (Nicole) Floyd of Germany, and Tim Floyd of Bloomington, Illinois. A beloved son, Jim Hogan passed away in August of 2003. They also have seven grandchildren, Richard (Skye) Hogan of Cullom, Christine (Garrett Sparrow) Hogan of Danvers, Matthew Floyd of Germany, Tiara Floyd of Germany, James Floyd of Germany, Emma Floyd of Germany, and Olivia Floyd of Germany; three precious great-grandchildren, Aiden James Hogan, Lilly Jean Grace Hogan and Addison Diane Elizabeth Hogan; nieces and nephews; and special friend and mother of Rich Hogan, Suzanne Houchin. Orville was also preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bob Floyd and Garvil Floyd; a sister in infancy; his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Marie Billerbeck; his daughter in law, Bridgette Floyd; two sister-in-laws, Rose Marie Marion and Peggy Nafzinger. Orville was employed for years at Roper Stone in Kankakee. He was then employed at the Pontiac Prison. He then worked at Tri-Point Schools for eleven years. He was an avid fan of WWE Wrestling.
