HAVENSVILLE - Gerald L. "Jerry" Conley, 70, of Havensville, passed away from an accident with a bull on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 near Westmoreland. He was born October 10, 1952 in Seneca, the son of Ivan and Marie Heinen Conley. Growing up, he worked on the family dairy. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1970. Jerry served in the U. S. Navy as a helicopter mechanic, stationed mostly in Norfolk, VA. Jerry owned and operated a Grade A Dairy for about twenty years. He then worked for R Tech Tool & Machine in Wamego, retiring in the fall of 2020. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga, the Mid America Dairy Farmer's Association and the Havensville Volunteer Fire Department. Jerry married Marcia Sumner on June 23, 1973 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She survives, of the home. Jerry was a very family-oriented man who loved his children and grandchildren devotedly. As a man with incredible work ethic, the hay field and milk barn were places of both learning and socializing with friends and family. When not on the farm, Jerry could often be found cheering his grandkids on at all their events. He also loved trips with Marcia several times a year to Branson, MO and Estes Park, CO. He and Marcia were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this summer with all their kids and grandkids at Mahoney State Park in NE. Jerry and Marcia's marriage was a beautiful example of love and devotion to all who knew them. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harold Conley, who died in infancy, and a sister, Lori Ann Conley, who died in childhood. Other survivors include three sons, Jason Conley (Jada) of Centralia, Jerod Conley (Dara) and Jeremy Conley (Laura) of Havensville; a daughter, Jami Berges (Daniel) of Frankfort; three brothers, Alan Conley of Seneca, Howard Conley (Debra) of Omaha, NE and Neil Conley (Janet) of Wichita; three sisters, Margie Feldkamp (Bob), Dorothy Henry (Kenny) and Lola Hower (Randy), all of Topeka; and twelve grandchildren, Jenri, Jude, Camden, Adalei, Liam, Claire, Cora, Calvin, Nellie, Caralynn, Ivan and Owen. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, October 11th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. Burial with military honors will follow in the Havensville Cemetery. Jerry will lie in state from 9:00 a. m. to 4:00 p. m. Tuesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p. m. Tuesday at the church, with a Rosary being prayed at 7:30 p. m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or HRHS Community Center, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 312, Onaga, KS 66521.

HAVENSVILLE - James "Nick" Lichter, 79, of Havensville, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born February 5, 1944 at Seneca, the son of Frank and Lucy Drealan Lichter. He attended Havensville schools, but graduated from Emmett High School due to the Havensville High School closing. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1961 to 1967. Nick was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. He married Rosalie M. Ouellette on June 20, 1969 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives, of the home. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary the day before his passing. Nick had worked for Sante Fe in Topeka for thirty-four years, retiring in 2004. He and Rosalie also raised livestock and dogs together. They had the first farrowing house in Kansas. Nick spent his spare time at the casino, traveling, and tending to his garden, all with his "sweetie" by his side. He enjoyed fishing, farming, reading, porch sitting, being ornery, and taking care of his dog Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bill Lichter, and two sisters, Pat Evans and Dorothy Eisenbarth. Other survivors include two daughters, Kathlena "Pee Wee" Jones (Doug) and Brenda "Squirt" Becker, all of Seneca, two sisters, Beth Cook, Wichita and Barbara Lichter, Henry, IL, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a. m. Saturday, June 24th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. Nick will lie in state from 9:00 a. m. to 4:00 p. m. Friday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Friday at the church, with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p. m. Burial will be next week in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Clyde, KS. Burial with military honors will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, June 27th in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Clyde, KS. Don Charles Elder, 83, of Havensville, passed away on October 27, 2022 at his home. Don was born in Wheaton, KS on June 30, 1939 the eldest son of four children born to Damien Layton Elder and Corinne Louise Elder (Miller). A lifelong resident of northeastern Kansas, he graduated from Havensville High School in 1957 and attended Washburn University for one semester. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka, Kansas for 39 years retiring in 1997. Don loved farming and fishing; however, he was best known for providing sage advice and playing a mean game of Pitch. Don married Genevieve (Jenny) Lea Frakes in 1959. They raised 8 children in the Havensville community and were members of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary with a family dinner in September 2022. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Carol Bahret, Martha Bettencourt, and Paul Elder. He is survived by his wife, Jenny, four sons: Brad Elder, Olathe, KS; Greg Elder (Donna) Seneca, KS; Mark Elder (Annette) Topeka, KS; Matt Elder (Lisa) Lawrence, KS; and four daughters: Dona Flowers (Shannon), Havensville, KS; Edana McSweeney (Arthur) Westwood, KS; Denise Sweet (Delbert) Holton, KS; Mary Theis (Chris) Lees Summitt, MO; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. A Rosary will prayed on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 6:30 pm, followed by visitation until 8:00, at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Onaga, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to the Don C.
