Georgia "Louise" (nee Rubison) Murray Hank, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away on October 3, 2023 Louise was born on September 23, 1931, in Center, Missouri to William Russell and Elizabeth Alberta (nee Couch) Rubison She was raised and educated in Missouri Louise attended the Hannibal School System in Hannibal, Missouri Louise was married to Harry Eugene Murray on January 23, 1948, in Hannibal, Missouri To this union five children were welcomed, Harry Russell, Paula Louise, Kathryn Elizabeth, Carol Ann, and Bryan Eugene The family traveled to Galesburg, Illinois in 1953 When Harry began working for Western Stoneware the family moved to Monmouth, Illinois in 1955 The family made their home at 1002 East Euclid Avenue During this time Louise was active in her children's activities including Cub Scout Den mother, Girl Scout leader, and Sunday School teacher at the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth She helped at school activities her children were involved with as a Garfield Elementary PTA member and Room Mother While her children were at Monmouth High School she attended and helped with many activities they were involved with She would assist with Harry's business - Custom Miller located in Monmouth She and Harry enjoyed entertaining friends at their home and boating on the Mississippi RIver through the years 1968 and 1969 brought hard times for Louise when Harry had to be placed on one of the first dialysis machines at their home with the help of Mayo Clinic The community supported the family with fundraisers to purchase the machine which she later donated to Monmouth Community Hospital Harry passed away in September of 1969 Louise began working for the Chamberlain and Ambrose Medical Office She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends as well as playing golf She was married to Roger Hank on August 13, 1971 Louise was also a member of the Eastern Star Traveling, reading, and collecting elephant statuettes were some of her favorite pastimes She became part owner of Hank Real Estate She also owned and helped run the Western Stoneware Showroom and the Gold House Antiques She and Roger moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she worked for the Urology Associates and Belk Department Store in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina They returned to Galesburg in 1987 where she worked for Sears Department Store for several years She was active in the United Methodist Women Society Circles As her health began to fail, she moved to the Monmouth Nursing Home in 2018 This is where she lived her final days She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth and Galesburg Louise enjoyed visits from the members of the churches while she lived at Monmouth Nursing Home She is survived by her children, Paula Louise (Larry) Coats of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; Kathryn Elizabeth Coursey of, Galesburg, Illinois, Carol Ann Murray of San Clemente, California; and Bryan Eugene (Linda) Murray of Monmouth, Illinois The grandchildren surviving are Harry (Heather) Blumberg, Joseph (Lauren) Blumberg, James (Layla) Coats, Robert (Jennifer) J Coursey, Matthew C Coursey, Megan (Adam) Dubin, Melinda Sue (Nicolas) Murray Gomez and Rebecca Louise (Tim) Murray White Great-grandchildren surviving are Eden Blumberg, Hannah Blumberg, Harrison Blumberg, Russell Coats, Sadie Coats, Lachlan Coats, Pierson Coats, Teagan Coats, Adriana Gomez, Paige Meier, Quinn White, and Abygail White She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Eugene Murray; son, Harry Russell Murray; husband, Roger Hank; brother, Fred Rubison and son-in-law, Stephen Coursey Cremation rites were accorded Interment will be held at the Monmouth Municipal Cemetery A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 11:30 a m at the Monmouth Municipal Cemetery All friends and family are welcome Memorials may be given to the Monmouth First United Methodist Church, Louise Murray Hank Emergency Fund, 221 East Broadway, Monmouth, Illinois 61462 To to the family or in memory of Georgia Louise Murray Hank, please

Olivia Bishop

Olivia Bishop was an exquisitely unique and loving individual whose precious life was lost on the 27th of November 2023 at the age of 24. Olivia is survived by their parents, Jim and Cindy Bishop of Alexis, IL, sister Caitlen (Geoffry) Hahn of Geneseo, IL, admiring relatives, and several adoring friends. Additionally, Olivia is survived by three cats named Annie, Laverne, and Meadow that they loved more than most things in this world. On the 2nd of October 1999, one of the sweetest souls began their life on this planet. Olivia sprouted up into a successful student at United High School and effectively danced their way through life. Throughout high school, Olivia participated in numerous dance competitions and performances. All That Dance provided young students the advantage of being taught by Olivia from 2016 to 2019 and Olivia's choreography was included in multiple performances and competitions. Olivia began attending Carl Sandburg College in 2018. During their time at CSC, they excelled in their classes as an honors student and were on the Dean's List all four semesters of their Associate in Arts degree. Due to their academic success, they were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Furthermore, Olivia was the Student Trustee to the Carl Sandburg College Board of Trustees during the 2019-2020 school year, a CSC tutor, a peer mentor with TRIO Student Support Services, a percussionist and the first dancer of the CSC band, and a member of the CSC premier honorary organization Woman of Character with the honor of an Academic Excellence Award during the Recognition and Awards Assembly of 2019. In the fall of 2020, Olivia continued their education at Western Illinois University working towards a Bachelors in Psychology and a Dance Minor. Olivia's academic success streak continued as they consistently made the Dean's List and graduated with high honors, Summa Cum Laude. When not focusing on research projects and other assignments, they graced the stage as a dancer and choreographer of the WIU University Dance Theatre programs. Olivia also volunteered for the HOTLINE Program that is in place through the WIU Psychology Department. Outside of academic and professional dance excursions, Olivia can be described as nothing short of a wonder. Of course, even in their free time Olivia was always dancing, choreographing pieces inspired by friendship and love. There are few people who can show their love with such precise action as Olivia did. Always ready to lend an ear or a hand to both friends and family, always ready to give crafts, paintings, trinkets, and treats which they loved to shower people with. Being in Olivia's circle provided even more than just outstanding love. If you ever needed a good music recommendation, Olivia had the best and one of the broadest music tastes around. On top of recommendations, they loved to take their friends to concerts and gigs, or just happily spend an evening doing nothing but listening to music together. Music was an integral part of Olivia's experience in this world; it's impossible to listen to Queen and not think of them. Olivia loved to expand themself as a person, experimental hair styles done by friends, new hobbies, new tattoos, new influential books and perspectives. When at home, Olivia loved their cats so much and smothered them with affection, namely Meadow, who they nursed back to being and took incredible care with through many issues. Olivia was known to do such things and had a heart for the hurt and suffering, Olivia could not turn a blind eye to injustice and was a fierce protector and advocate to those around them. To say Olivia was loved deeply by those who truly knew and understood them is an understatement, it is impossible to put into words the absence they are leaving in their wake. Olivia would ask you, in this time, to call your loved ones, to be there for one another. James A. Underwood, 63, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 1:40 am, Friday, November 24, 2023 at his home. James was born on January 6, 1960 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Davey Lee and Elizabeth Irene (Yocum) Underwood. He was raised and educated in Monmouth. He married Debra Raymond on March 12, 1977 in Monmouth, IL; she survives. James was an over the road truck driver for over 40 years until his retirement in 2023. He was a die hard Alabama Crimson Tide fan. James enjoyed fishing, building and racing derby cars. He especially liked razzing back and forth with his grandson, Carter, about sports. Most of All, James liked to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed volunteering for many years helping prepare the Community Thanksgiving Meal. Surviving James is his wife, Debra Underwood of Monmouth, IL; two sons, James A. (Tina) Underwood of Pekin, IL, David M. (Kristi) Underwood of Oklahoma; two daughters, Megan (Jesse) Hare of Alexis, IL, Leona (John Fishel) Underwood of Monmouth, IL; ten grandsons; four granddaughters; and one great grandson. Also surviving are several siblings, and special family member, Tony & Rosemary Martin of Monmouth, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Kevin Underwood. ROLL TIDE!! Brian was born on August 3, 1976 in Monmouth, IL, the son of David Bruce Reimolds & Shelley Williams. He was raised and educated in Monmouth. Brian worked at Wells Pet Food in Monmouth for a time. He worked for a temp agency helping several area businesses. Brian enjoyed going fishing, cooking, and working on cars. He enjoyed rebuilding small engines and motorbikes. He was an avid Colts fan and enjoyed playing sports. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially spending time with his children. Brian was always known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and his "Brianisms". Mark D. Free, 69, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 9:50 a. m. , Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at his home. Mark was born on April 25, 1954, the son of James and Gladys A. (Kinney) Free in Monmouth, IL. He was raised and educated in Little York, IL and graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1972. He worked for the State of Illinois for 21 years and Columbia Decorating which he retired from in 2021. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth. He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his family. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Mark is survived by his parents, Jim and Gladys Free of Little York, IL; brothers, Barry (Mary Ann) Free of Seaton, IL and Stan (Mary Ann) Free of Sugar Grove, IL; son-in-law, Eric Clifton of Galesburg, IL; grandchildren, Collin Britton, Randell Clifton, and Nadia Clifton; and several nieces and nephews. Dora (Dorrie) Lee Tinkham (Rider), age 89, passed away peacefully into waiting arms in Heaven on November 17th, 2023. Dora was born on March 2nd, 1934 to Newell and Marjorie (Keen) Rider in Mendota, IL. At the age of 20, she married her life-long friend Theodore (Ted) Tinkham of Cameron, IL. Dora was a graduate of Cottage Hospital School of Nursing and worked for twenty years in mental health as a nurse in psychology, impacting numerous lives. Dora was a loving wife, caring mother, supportive grandmother, a cheerleader to all who knew her, and a devoted follower of Christ. Dora is survived by one son, Timothy Tinkham of Cameron IL; her grandson Nicolas "Nico" (Elizabeth) Guzman of Iowa City IA, whom she helped raise after the death of her daughter, Laura; Janessa Tinkham of Fordsville, KY, her 'other' daughter Terry Hanson of Cameron IL, who was precious to her, often acted as her right (and left) hand, and honored her by calling her 'mother'; a sister-in-law Barbara Rider of Wataga IL; Chris and Matt Tinkham of Peoria IL; the Paul Phillips family, who were always so supportive of her; and Sandy Rebholz of Mendota IL, one of many cousins. Dora is preceded in death by her parents, Newell and Marjorie (Keen) Rider of Mendota IL; Theodore Tinkham, whom traveled the world with her; her daughter Laura Guzman (Tinkham); her sons Todd Tinkham, Ty Tinkham, and Tracey Tinkham; and her brother Charles Rider. Per her wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Her greatest desire was for Christ to be lifted up. Dora will be cremated by Turnbull Funeral Home and buried in Silent Home cemetery in Cameron IL. Graveside services are planned at Silent Home Cemetery on November 24th, 2023 at 11:00 am and a celebration of life dinner will be held afterward at 1:00 at Bethel Baptist Church 1196 North Academy Street in Galesburg, IL. A memorial fund is being established for Knox County Right for Life or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Her final wish is that she be remembered as somebody who cared and loved the world. Anne Rose Altis,92, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 5:38 a. m. , Monday, November 13, 2023 at Monmouth Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born November 27, 1930 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Harold and Neva (Glidden) Bland. She was raised and educated in Aledo, graduating from Aledo High School in 1948. Anne met the love of her life and soon later married James "Bill" Altis in Aledo, IL on February 18, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2015. Anne started her career working for a telephone company as a telephone operator, then worked as a cashier for Kroger for 23 years, and retired from Shopko. Anne didn't know a stranger. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles, and reading in her free time. She spent a lot of her free time helping with gardening and yard work at her home. Surviving Anne are her children, Donnie (Barb) Altis, Connie Faulkner and Mary Kaye Altis all of Monmouth, IL; 6 grandchildren, Cathy (Aljon) Soto, Amy (Scott) Hume, Nicki Taylor, Carol Altis, Kelly Hull, Casey (Brian) Davis; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 2 nephews; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Gary Bland; her sister, Carole Vandemark; and step granddaughter, Missy Jo Piper.
