Paul Frank Smith, 91, of Batavia, IA, and formerly of San Antonio, TX and Ottumwa, IA passed away on December 5, 2023, at Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua, IA. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Batavia, Methodist Church in Batavia, IA with Pastor Dave Peterson officiating. Burial will be held in the Batavia Cemetery immediately following. Memorial contributions in Paul's honor may be directed to the Batavia United Methodist Church. Friends may leave online condolences at www. cranstonfamilyfuneralhome. com. Paul Frank Smith was born on November 4, 1932, in Ottumwa, IA to Frank and Ruhama Hart Smith. He attended school in Batavia, IA graduating with the class of 1950. On June 26, 1955, he was united in marriage to his best friend, Nancy Walker. Together they became the loving parents to three children: David, Paul, and Jay. Paul was a loving father and provider. Nancy and Paul worked together to open Hawkeye Real Estate in Ottumwa, IA. They served the Ottumwa and surrounding area until 1983 when they sold the business and moved to San Antonio, TX. He worked as a full-time real estate appraiser until 2021 when he returned to Batavia, IA. Paul enjoyed studying the Bible and enjoyed spreading the gospel, in later years through the Kairos Prison Ministry. His presence will be missed by his family and many friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Paul Smith and Paul Frank Smith II, and his wife Nancy. Left to share his story is his son, Jay H. Smith of San Antonio, TX; two sibling, Steve Smith of Batavia, IA and Kathy Williams, as well as many extended family and friends.Show more
