George E. Thomas, Jr. age 59 of Cecilia, formerly of Louisville, passed Monday, October 2, 2023 at his home. He was the son of the late George E. Thomas, Sr. and Mary Helen Kelty Thomas. George enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, but was later honorably discharged for medical reasons. He was member of the former Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Louisville. Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristin Renee Thomas Joslin. George is survived by one daughter, Hannah Nichole Thomas Rowe, two sons, George E. Thomas III, and James Cash Thomas, four grandchildren Isaiah, Jonah, Jordyn, and Nehemiah, two sisters, Susie Thomas Jupin (Jimmy), and Vicki Davis (Delbert), and the mothers of his children Pam Fields, and Nikki Robinson. No services are scheduled at this time, the family plans to hold a Memorial Service in memory of George at a later date.

William B. Davis, 66, passed away peacefully with family on Tuesday, November 28, at his home in Logsdon Valley, Munfordville. He was preceded in death by his son William Todd Davis, his parents Reo and Virgie C. Davis, a brother Rick Davis; mother and father-in-laws Herley and Geneva Childress and niece Lillie Gaddie. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Davis; one daughter Katie Davis and two sons: Ben Davis (Sarah) and Will Davis (Erica) along with four granddaughters - Addie, Sommer, Brooke and Gemma Davis. Also surviving are siblings Reo Davis (Pam), Tracy Sandefur (Paul) and Sarah Davis-Madden along with brother-in-laws Leo Childress, Vincent Childress (Shirley) and sister-in-laws Lelia Sublett (Jim), Melody Gaddie (John Wilson), Renee Defevers (Robert) and Mary Jo Davis. Eleven nephews and five nieces also survive, plus several great nieces, nephews and cousins. Billy was retired from Ford Motor Company in Louisville. Listening to the radio on his daily trips to work made him at expert an music and despite his many illnesses he could still recall songs and artists and often sang for the staff at the local dialysis center. Billy was a fun-loving, family oriented, witty individual who loved telling stories, going fishing, watching horse races and Western Kentucky University basketball games. He was also generous with his time and often assisted his wife with community projects or his church and the local Knights of Columbus organization. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 2, at Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church in Horse Cave. Visitation will be held at Sego Funeral Home from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, December 1 and again on Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM at Our Lady of the Caves Church. Burial will follow in the St. Benedict's Catholic Church Cemetery at Wax. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Knights of Columbus organization or the Hart County Historical Society.Show more

Jack R. Custer, age 87, of Munfordville, KY, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Deaconess-Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. He was member of Munfordville Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Miami Edison High School and University of Florida in Gainsville. He was a Florida National Guard veteran. He moved to Kentucky in September 1966, a dairy farmer, he was a past president and member of the Kyana Dairy Producers Board. He was also elected to the Board of Dairymen, Inc. He was a past Chairman and member of the Hart County Board of Education. He served as an inspector, supervisor, Ag Branch manager and assistant director before retiring from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Division of Pesticides. He is the son of the late Roy F. Custer and Hazel Shires Custer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Bolton Custer; his brother, Roy F. Custer, Jr; and a sister-in-law, Jean Kabler Custer. He is survived by, one daughter, Carolyn C. McDonald and her husband James, Evansville, IN; one son, Stephen R. Custer and his wife Lara, Louisville, KY; one brother, Douglas S. Custer, Munfordville, KY; five grandchildren Molly, Ivan (Rebecca), Kathryn, William, and Lucy; one sister-in-law, Peggy Moberg Custer, Raleigh, NC; several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Munfordville Municipal Cemetery. Donald Belles 75 passed away at his home in Horse Cave KY. on November 17th 2023. He ispreceded in death by his parents William and Alice Belles. Three brothers, Edward Belles,William ( Bill ) Belles and Dewey Green. He is survived by his wife Resa , daughter of his heart, JayLee Lyon. Daughter April Evans,husband Joe , a Son Jesse Vickers, wife Ashlynn. Eleven grand children and seven gr grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews. Don was born in Sayre , Pennsylvania on March 07, 1948 and later moved to Michigan with hisparents and his brothers. He was on the swimming team at Eastern Highschool and laterworked as a lifeguard during summer breaks . A year after graduation he joined the Army. Where he became a helicopter pilot. He servedmany different positions while serving his country. Also got his first bachelor's degree inpsychology at St. Martins University. Major Belles left active duty and joined the Army Reservesfor over twenty years serving as a chaplain and a drug and alcohol counselor. He continued his education while working for the Boeing company while living in Puyallup WA. for over thirty years. Don earned 5 academic degrees: a BA, M, Div. , Ph. D. , M. B. A and M. Ed. Hecompleted his doctoral dissertation during these years. Through the years Don earned many awards. Local, national and international. Traveled toRussia ,once as a student and another time as a presenter and also trips to Jerusalem, andEgypt. His awards included listings in the Who's Who in the World, America, West, Health andMedicine, and others. As well as the William Allen Award for Volunteerism Finalist. He had manyskills and licenses. He also worked as an instructor and college faculty member while living inWashington. He loved participating in the civil war reenactments as president Jefferson Davis. Until he as stricken by ALS. He continued consulting until he lost his ability to speak. Don would describe himself as a life long learner. He wrote poems and one book that waspublished called " Mark the Educator" he also had one finished but yet to be published . Heloved his life, his family and his friends. So as of now he is free of the terrible disease of ALS and sleeps peacefully awaiting theresurrection. We as his family are blessed to have been part of his life and knowing that he isnow in Jehovah's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS foundation. James Royce Bacon, age 77, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at his home. Born in Munfordville, Kentucky, Jim was a son of the late James T. Bacon and Jessie Waddell Bacon. He grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Shawnee High School, and then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Witek DD-848 during the Vietnam era. He later retired from CSX Railroad, where he worked as a machinist. He was an outstanding softball player in his youth, and later became an avid golfer. He organized an annual golf trip for his friends and co-workers that has endured for more than 30 years. Aside from sports, Jim enjoyed spending time and volunteering at the Tri-County Elks Lodge #2826 in Corbin, where he was an active member until the time of his passing. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Lynn Morrison, and two brothers, Kevin W. Bacon and Wendell R. Bacon. Jim is survived by Bonnie Marshall Bacon, his wife of 57 years; two children, Denise Leigh Hoover (Tony) and James Royce Bacon, Jr. ; five grandchildren, Anthony Dayne Hoover, Billy Gage Hoover, Michael Ross Reno, Taylor Leigh Morrison, and John Earl Morrison, III; two great-grandchildren, Logan Michael James Morrison and Averie Lynn Reno; a sister, Belva J. Howard (Lynn); a brother, Charles E. Bacon; a sister-in-law, Patty Bacon; and by several nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Visitation will be from 2-5pm on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 5pm with the Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Along with his daughter, Jim will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 22 in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's honor to Tri-County Elks Lodge #2826.
