George Alvin Stevens "Al", 83, of Thomasville, NC, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC. Al was born April 9, 1940 in Vienna, VA; son of the late John Clarence and Florence Bray Stevens. He was a master plumber. In his free time, Al loved to be on the water with a fishing pole in hand, he also loved music, dancing and life itself. His family is what he cherished most and loved to boast about them, every chance he could. He married the love of his life, Brenda Spangler Stevens, September 20, 1972 in Fairfax, VA. Along with his wife of fifty years, Al is survived by his sons, Bobby Stevens (Susan) of Fredericksburg, VA, Jamie Stevens (Krista) of Stephens City, VA and Jordie Puckett Stevens (Donna) of Camdenton, MO; brother, Leroy Stevens (Norma Jean) of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; sister, Janice Papson (Andy) of Coppers Cove, TX; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and two on the way. He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Todd Stevens; brother, John C. Stevens and sisters, Thelma Henry, Peggy Henry and Brenda Comer. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester, VA with a service to follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Andy Combs officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. A reception will follow the services at the Millwood Station Banquet Hall, Winchester, VA. Pallbearers will be, Jamie Stevens, Bobby Stevens, Jordie Puckett Stevens, Travis Stevens, Hunter Stevens, and Kaegan Puckett. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Cosner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jones Funeral Home to help offset the funeral expenses. The family would like to give a special thank you for the support the family received, during this difficult time to Rick and Dianna Thompson, Gary Cosner, Sherry Farmer, Bobbie and Pat Willard and many others, too numerous to name.
