George W. McIlroy, 85, of Granite City, IL died on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Granite City, IL. He was born on October 2, 1938 in Charleston, MO to Prentice and Mary Sue (Bone) McIlroy. George married Beverly "Bev" Thomas in Granite City, IL on October 25, 1962. She preceded him in death in 2019. The U. S. Air force veteran was a supervisor at Laclede Steel in Madison, IL and retired from United Aircraft Services in Pontoon Beach, IL. The loving father and grandfather is survived by 2 daughters: Lori (McIlroy) Long of Granite City, IL and Monica (Chris) Weathers of Troy, IL; a son, Troy McIlroy and his fiance, Susan Conrad of St. Louis, MO; 5 grandchildren: Sean (Carrie) McIlroy, Rebecca McIlroy, Ryan Long, Riley Long and Landon Warren; a great grandchild, Daisy McIlroy; 2 brothers; Kenny McIlroy of Glen Carbon, IL and Mike (Peggy) McIlroy of Charleston, MO and 5 sisters: Donnie Pemberton of Jackson, MO, Janet Greer of East Prairie, MO, Doris-Ann Chapel of Alabama, Carolyn Hooten of Gideon, MO and Barbie (Don) Hopgood of KY. Barbara Ann (Rippy) Rigsby, 82, of Granite City, Illinois, born May 11, 1941 in Dover Tennessee, passed away, November 29, 2023, peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Barbara was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Granite City. She retired after 35 years as Unit Manager at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, also in Granite City. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who will truly be missed by all who knew her. She was born to the late Charles Ryan Jr and Rosella (Todd) Ryan on March 27, 1957 in Jefferson City, MO. Debbie attended Nevada Highschool in Missouri. She met James Annen and they were married on February 11, 2006. Debbie and James owned a Flea Market called Deb's Corner. She loved to collect jewelry and dolls. Her hobbies included shopping and diamond art painting but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Debbie was a mother hen to her siblings. She loved to joke around and make everyone smile. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, James Annen; 3 daughters: Jenn Annen. Lynne Dentone, Dianne Estock-Annen; a son: Adrien Estock-Annen; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Gene (Stacy) Bond, Rex Ryan; 5 sisters: Diane Kirchner, Patty (Chuck) Ryan, Barbie (Dave D'eagle) Hile, Therisa (Roger) Moreno, Brenda (Joel) Ryan; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Schannot, nee Warren, 94, of Granite City, Illinois, born October12, 1929, in Gillespie, Illinois, passed away, November 20, 2023, in Glen Carbon, IllinoisLucille was a proud member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Granite City, Illinois and volunteered her time with the Ladies Auxiliary. She was excellent with math and numbers, working as the bookkeeper for her late husband, Herbert, at H. R. Schannot, Jr. Painting Company. She loved to travel with her husband, and they enjoyed many cruises and trips together. She also liked taking trips down to Tunica, Mississippi, where she would test her luck on the slot machines. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially playing card games like Pinochle and Rummy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will truly be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Richard Schannot, Jr. ; her parents, Dillard "Oscar" and Annie Mae, nee Jones, Warren; her siblings, Oscar, Jessie, Marie, Dorothy, Betty, Ruthie, Edna, and Cassie; and a son-in-law, Raymond McClintock. James was a union carpenter out of St. Louis and in his free time could often be found at Tri City Speedway racing stock cars. James was a well known outdoorsman who enjoyed his days of hunting and fishing or watching hockey, football and baseball. James loved all types of music and was always ready for spending time with his family and friends. James will be remembered for his heart of gold who had a great personality and a joke for just about everyone and all the special times he shared with his family. Gerald J. Jerry Roderick, 81, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:39 p. m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at his home with his beloved wife and family by his side. Jerry leaves a legacy of his family, proud community involvement and a Granite City tradition of great food and loyal service to people throughout his life. He was born July 8, 1942, in Granite City, a son of the late Oliver B. and Theresa E. (Juliette) Roderick. He married the love of his life, Coleen K. (Weston) Roderick on May 15, 1965, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City and she survives. He retired in December 2017, as the owner and operator of Jerry's Cafeteria and Catering in Granite City, leaving a son and family to continue his legacy. Jerry loved baking, cooking, being with his family and entertaining others. He had a love for sports and enjoyed his days of playing golf, participating in local hockey and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues. In 2021, he was proudly inducted into the Granite City High School Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Jon and Michelle Roderick of Pontoon Beach, Jenna and Michael DeYong of Granite City, Joel and Sarah Roderick of Lincolnton, North Carolina and Amanda and Matthew Lour of Granite City; twelve grandchildren and spouses, Shelby and Jordan Martin, Jacob Roderick, Addison Roderick, Cole and Randi DeYong, Alec and Emma DeYong, Eerina Roderick, Matthew Roderick, Shepard Roderick, Ahnna Roderick, Weston Roderick, Amelia "Millie" Lour and Adam Lour; a great grandson, Chase DeYong; a great grandchild on the way; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Mike Ivie of Granite City; his cherished beagles, Truman and Bess; several nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Adam Kyle Roderick and a brother, Ronald Roderick. In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held at Grace Church East, 4701 State Route 111 in Granite City on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 4:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 a. m. with Reverend Steve McKinney officiating.
