George was born in Hazard, Kentucky the son of Vera Brewer Green and the late Wade Hardin. Other than his father, George was also preceded in death by his son, Allen Mullins; granddaughter, Allie Marie Brewer; maternal grandparents, Willie & Grace Brewer; paternal grandparents, George & Shannie Hardin. George enjoyed digging ginseng, collecting knives and working on model cars. Other than her parents, Sue was also preceded in death by her husband, Hobalee Shepherd; daughter, Rebecca Shepherd; special sister, Donna Griffith; also a host of nieces, nephews, and aunts & uncles. Sue loved to go fishing, gardening and canning, going to the races, and cherished every minute spent with her grandson. Alvin was a United States Army Veteran and was a great dozer man and took great pride in his work. Alvin loved playing his banjo, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. In Loving Memory of Janet PlasJanet Plas, devoted wife, mother, and friend, passed away at the age of 80 on November 25, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born on September 2, 1943 to Leonard and Olga Mennucci; Janet grew up in South Bend, Indiana in a loving family alongside her siblings, Don, Paul and Lisa. Janet's life was a testament to her deep Catholic faith, which served as a guiding light throughout her journey. Her unwavering belief in compassion, love, and service to others was evident in every aspect of her life. Janet's commitment to service extended from her career as a nurse in the United States Navy to her lifelong volunteer work in local communities and charitable organizations. Her Catholic faith inspired her to live a life of purpose, contributing to the well-being of others with kindness and generosity. Janet's faith was not only a source of strength for her but also a wellspring of comfort and support for family and friends. Janet's loyalty to and love of her family was unwavering. On August 17th 1968, she married Raymond Plas at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. Together they built a life marked by love, joy, and shared adventures in St. Louis, Missouri. A nurturing mother, she imparted values of kindness, resilience, loyalty and the importance of family bonds to her children, David (Beth), Dan (Erin), and Karen (Chris) and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Kate, Andrew, Matthew, Megan, Lauren, Maddie, Molly and John. Her commitment to family extended to her brother, Paul (Ellie) Mennucci, sister Lisa (Don) Fischesser and the late Don (Martha) Mennucci as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her faith, Janet held a special love for the University of Notre Dame. Whether cheering on the Fighting Irish or spending time at countless tailgaters, her connection to the University was a reflection of her dedication to education, community, and the values that define the Notre Dame family. Ruth Ellen Lewis, aged 96, departed from this world on November 21, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of the late Louis and Angie Peso Babick, and the loving sister to the late Lorraine Schumacher and George Babick. Ruth was the cherished wife of the late Keith E Lewis, a devoted mother to her sons Dr. Trevor (Betsy) Lewis, Scott (Lauren) Lewis, and daughter Darcy Lewis (David) Diggs. She was also a fond grandmother to Charlie, Charlotte, Emily, James, Keith, Lane, Madyn, Sara, Taft, and William. Born on December 18, 1926, Ruth graduated from Hirsch High School and embarked on a career in advertising with the Earl Ludkin Agency. She took the advertising world by storm, quickly rising to the position of buyer where she met her future husband, Keith E Lewis. The couple spent their formative years working in Chicago's advertising industry and were avid fans of Northwestern football, Keith's alma matter. In 1963, Ruth and Keith purchased The Narrows Resort in Minocqua, Wisconsin, a lakeside establishment that became the centerpiece of their summers. Over the past 60 years, her dedication to the resort transformed it into an annual gathering spot for hundreds of families. In addition to innkeeping, Ruth enjoyed a successful career in real estate on Chicago's North Shore. A lifelong resident of Wilmette, Ruth actively participated in the New Trier Republican Club, Wilmette Women's Club, and Koenig and Strey Real Estate. Ruth was a fixture at her sons' sporting events and loved spending time with her beloved dogs Charlie, Ollie, and Sally. Her avid interest in politics endured, and she found joy in spending holidays with family and friends. Of her many roles, the one she cherished most was that of "Nana" to her ten grandchildren. She was a constant presence in their lives, attending school events, sports games, and family gatherings, always offering her wisdom. She delighted in their achievements, celebrated their milestones, and imparted to them the values that shaped her own remarkable journey. Ruth's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created with those she loved. May she rest in peace.
