Geoffrey Ruth Schott "Devoted Daughter" May 18, 1946 - October 2, 2023 Geoffrey Ruth Schott, age 77, passed away quietly on October 2, 2023. Born May 18, 1946, she grew up in and loved her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. Geoffrey Ruth always had a thirst for knowledge. She graduated from Randolph Macon Woman's College (1968) in Lynchburg, Virginia, majoring in Biology. After graduation, she worked at Georgetown Hospital in Virginia, as a clinical laboratory scientist. In search of higher education, Geoffrey Ruth studied Genetics in the graduate program of John Hopkins University. She continued her clinical research working in Genetics at the University of Virginia Medical School. Family was everything to Geoffrey Ruth. In the 1990s, she returned to Charlotte to be closer to her aging parents. She took great joy in working with her dad, John, in the family business at Operating and Maintenance Specialties. After retirement, Geoffrey Ruth did volunteer work and lovingly cared for her parents. She was a devoted daughter and beloved by her mom and dad. Geoffrey Ruth is predeceased by her parents, John Evans Schott and Geoffrey Jordan Schott. She is survived by her two cousins, Lee Robert Jordan (Elizabeth) of Atlanta and George Evans Williams (Sylvia) of Charlotte; cousins once removed, Alison Daughtry (Tim and their children Parker and Lucy) of Atlanta, Amanda Garcia (Michael and their daughter Isabella) of Denver, Jake Jordan of Atlanta, George McKinney Williams of Charlotte, and his twin Sarah Evans Williams of Morehead City. Geoffrey Ruth will be dearly missed by her Virginia family including Frank and Kathy Sudduth, their daughters (Barbara Gibson, Kristine Reynolds and Sue Call), and Nellie Pat and Jim Landrum. A special thanks to Barry Fruster for his friendship and long-time support of the entire Schott family. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at Sharon Towers, following the graveside service. Geoffrey Ruth was grateful for every gift, every visit, every helping hand, and every act of kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
