"Geoffrey Hinton went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2023 peacefully, at home, and surrounded by his family. Geoff was born October 14, 1952 in the East End of London, making him a true cockney, and shortly after adopted by loving parents. At 14 years old, he attended boarding school aboard the training ship Arethusa, a four masted barque that currently serves as the museum ship Peking in Hamburg, Germany. He spent the next several years at sea, rising to the level of Able Seaman, and found his way onto the missionary ship Logos. Sailing around India and Southeast Asia, he met the love of his life, Lynette. After a friendship at sea and a subsequent courtship, they were married in Leicester, England in 1976. Geoff and Lynette moved back to the United States and eventually settled in their permanent home in Talihina, Oklahoma, where they raised their children. His children and grandchildren have fond memories of fishing in the pond and building dams in the creek. He enjoyed retirement at home with Lynette, gardening and tinkering with his tractors. They entertained many guests. Geoff was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Etta Hinton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynette; children Joey and Cindy Hinton of Tucson, Arizona, Krista and Herschel Carswell of Boswell, and Frank and Stephanie Hinton of Oklahoma City; and grandchildren Chelsea, Jared, Justin, Virginia, Ethan, and Virgil, and great-grandson Gus. Geoff will be remembered by friends and family for being kind, warm, generous to a fault, and goofy. He could bring levity to any situation. He will be missed dearly, but his friends and family know he is with his Savior, and they will see him again. Cremation services are being provided by McCarn Funeral Service. "
