Genene Daniel Holt was born February 1, 1946 in Wayne County, TN the daughter of the late Earnest Truman and Virgie Christine Thompson Daniel. She was united in marriage to James Ronald Holt on May 8, 1965 and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2012. Genene worked for 30+ years as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly in Collinwood, TN. She was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. In her spare time, Genene loved watching soap operas, playing word search puzzles, and most of all, loved spending time with her family. Genene departed this life on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in Florence, AL at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 22 days. She is survived by sons, James Rickey Holt of Collinwood, TN, Thomas Glen Holt of Collinwood, TN, and Brad Daniel Holt of Iron City, TN; siblings, Peggy Brewer of Iron City, TN, Betty Stults of Iron City, TN, Charles Daniel of Iron City, TN, Carl Fred Daniel (Barbara) of Collinwood, TN, and Gayle Thompson (Harold) of Iron City, TN; grandchildren, Devin Randal Holt, Dakota Rector, Dalton Holderby, Khali Stults, Gracie Tays, and Mason Tays; great granddaughter, Rosalyn Rector; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Genene was preceded in death by sister, Frances Jane Daniel; brothers-in-law, Carlin Brewer and James Ray Stults; and sister-in-law, Patricia Daniel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN, with Stephen Stults officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Collinwood, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Pallbearers will be Nick Thompson, Michael Dial, Jeff Dial, Presley Dial, Presley Dial, Stan Daniel, Dennis Brewer, Darryl Brewer, and Devin Holt.

Linda Patterson July 12, 1949 – November 29, 2023 Linda Kay Patterson, age 74, died Wednesday, November 29th at Jackson General Hospital following a short illness. Ms. Linda, as she was affectionately known, was born July 12, 1949, the daughter of the late Vaudie and Evie Smith Patterson. The Patterson family made their home in Henderson, TN. Ms. Linda graduated from Chester County High School in 1967. She continued her education at Union University earning a B. A. in Elementary Education in 1971 and later a Masters in Elementary Education from Memphis State. She began her teaching career in Ripley, TN, but returned to her hometown of Henderson in 1976. For the next 38 years Ms. Linda dedicated her professional career to enhancing the lives of everyone she met in the Chester County School System. While working for the Chester County Board of Education, she taught at both West Chester and East Chester Elementary. She served as principal at East for seven years, the Family Resources Director and co-principal at North Chester for 2 years, Title I and Pre-K Director for the county, and Elementary Supervisor for eight years. During this time, she received awards, including Chester County Teacher of the Year and Supervisor of the Year. While she officially retired in 2014, Ms. Linda remained involved in the community, serving as Early Childhood consultant for the SWHRA, on the Board of Directors for the Hardeman County Community Health Center that includes Chester, Hardeman, and Haywood counties, and on the Neighborhood Network West TN Advisory Board. Ms. Linda was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson, TN, and in her younger years, volunteered her time in the children’s ministry, including teaching Sunday School for 20 years. She enjoyed meeting up with friends for lunch, traveling for visits with friends and family, and attending many local sporting and theater events. She was always eager to share a hug and her laugh instantly brought a smile to your face. Since the death of her mother in 2006, Ms. Linda’s primary role has been as caretaker of her handicapped brother, Thomas Gwendell Patterson, who currently resides in Selmer, TN. Besides her brother, she is survived by her cousins, Charles Smith of Kabula, MO, Brenda Wright of Peoria, IL, Harold Vires of Bartonville, IL, Bill Webster of Bethel Springs, Bobby Webster of Lexington, Susan Strickland (Jimmy) of Finger, Ann Keistler of Memphis, Margaret Stinnett of Memphis, Lois Moore of Memphis, Katie Sowell of Selmer, JoAnn Easley of Savannah, Ralph Robison of Selmer, Gary Robison of Bethel Springs, Cathy Clay of Memphis, Phillip Patterson of Memphis. Ms. Linda was preceded in death by her brother, James Francis Patterson in 1998. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Henderson, East Main Chapel with Troy Kilzer II officiating. Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery. Glennis "Glen" Harold Weeks, of Cypress Inn, TN, passed away on November 26, 2023, at the age of 78. Born on March 13, 1945, Glen was the cherished son of "Bill" Luther Wiley Weeks and Verta Mae (Balentine) Weeks McFall. On November 27, 1965, Glen entered into a lifelong union with his beloved wife Blanche Thompson. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with love and devotion. Glen was a dedicated and hard worker. He held many roles over his long work career, before retiring from TVA as a Machinist. He was also a proud member of the Collinwood Masonic Lodge. His passion for adventure led him to embark on memorable motorcycle trips with friends. Glen found solace in nature through hunting and treasured moments spent with his family. His unwavering faith in God brought him comfort and strength throughout his life. Glen had a warm and outgoing personality, making many friends wherever his travels took him. All who knew him, loved him. Dementia may have taken his memory from him but we will always have our memories of Glen as a great Husband, Dad, Father-in-law, Papaw, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, Coworker or Friend. On November 22, 2023, a remarkable individual whose life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication passed away. David H. Ray, born on February 28, 1950, in Jackson, TN, son of the late Billy Hugh and Ina Jewell Jernigan Ray embodied the qualities of a true servant and brought joy to all those fortunate enough to cross his path. David served with honor in the United States Army, displaying unwavering commitment to his country. This spirit of loyalty and devotion carried over to his personal life when he joined in matrimony with Anita Faye Jones on September 24, 1976. A devout member of the Church of God of Prophecy and an attendee at Abundant Grace Ministries in Collierville, TN, David held his faith close to his heart. He exemplified what it meant to be dedicated both to his religious community as well as to his cherished family and friends. Approaching every encounter with an infectious smile and an open heart, he had an uncanny ability to initiate conversations with anyone and make them feel seen and valued. Beyond his spiritual pursuits, David embraced various hobbies and organizations that brought him immense joy. A proud lifetime member of the NRA, and member of in the Sons of the American Revolution and Sons of Confederate Veterans organizations – honoring his heritage while promoting unity. A true embodiment of hard work and diligence, David spent years contributing wholeheartedly through various professional endeavors. For fourteen years, he dedicated himself to Holiday Woodcraft in Memphis, TN, First Baptist Church in Horn Lake, MS for another fourteen years and Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, MS, he dedicated sixteen years forging a legacy of exceptional work ethic and meticulous attention to detail. Outside of his professional life, David's talents extended to the realm of baking. Revered for his exquisite pies, cakes, and candies, he found immense joy in creating culinary delights that he eagerly shared with loved ones and friends. But it was his unwavering faith in God that stood as the cornerstone of David's existence. He lived a life committed to serving the Lord and was guided by principles of love, compassion, and selflessness. As a devout husband to Anita Faye Ray, a loving father to Anita Jewell Hite and her husband Julius, and a caring father to David Austin Ray and his wife Amy, his dedication knew no bounds. His love reached even further as a doting grandfather to Zachary and Keegan Hite, Eli and Samuel Ray. David leaves behind a void that will be deeply felt by two sisters, Freda Weatherly of Adamsville, TN and Kay Bruner and her husband Jackie of Selmer, TN; sister-in-law Molly Ray of Jackson, TN; brother, Richard Ray and his wife Virginia of Bethel Springs, TN; along with numerous nieces, nephews, close relatives, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Ray. In this time of mourning, we reflect on the imprinted legacy David H. Ray leaves behind. His unwavering faith in God touched the lives of many.
