Gene Myers Obituary

Gene Myers, 88, of the St. James community, passed away Saturday. Gene was born and raised in Greene County. He married his high school sweetheart Matilda Solomon and they were happily married until Matilda's passing in 2019. Gene enjoyed gardening and traveling with Matilda, and fishing and playing golf with many wonderful friends. Gene retired from American Enka, BASF and Lenzing Fibers with 40 years service. He supported his community through numerous groups including membership with the Solomon Lutheran Church, the Nolichucky Ruritan Club, and Jericho Shrine Club. Gene was also Past Worshipful Master of the Beersheba Masonic Lodge #449 and Past President of the Greeneville Scottish Rite Club where he was a member of the RoadRunner's Club making numerous trips to the Cincinnati Burn Center and Greenville, SC Shriner Hospital for Children. Survivors include his son and partner, Jeff Myers and David Dalrymple; grandson and wife, Brad and Tina Myers; sisters-in-law Neddia Bolton, Fredna Myers, Kathleen Solomon; and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Matilda Solomon Myers; son Randy Myers; parents Lloyd and Ruth Myers; brothers Bob Myers and Kenney Myers; brother and sister-in-law Norman and Helen Myers; brother-in-law Freddie Solomon; and nephew Michael Solomon. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept 14, from 5-7 pm at Kiser Rose-Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7pm in the Kiser Rose-Hill Chapel, officiated by Minister Sonya Solomon. The family would like to thank the terrific medical staff at Dr. Mosca's office, Davita Smoky Mtn, Davita RTP, and Gentiva Hospice for their care and support. Gene believed strongly in supporting children through his community service.
