Angela Wood

Angela Wood

Age - 59

October 19, 2023

Angela (Angie) Jo Wood was born on June 13, 1964, in Mattoon, IL to Joe and Suzanne Bryson Thomas, and went to Heaven on October 8, 2023. Angie was an amazing Christian woman who was a Godly example to all. She grew up in the country near Mattoon, IL, where she and her brothers rode their dirt bikes and worked in the large garden they had for their family. She graduated from Mattoon High School and soon met the love of her life, Jim. They were married June 30, 1984, and had three kids, Halli, Joshua and Benjamin. She lovingly raised her family while they moved throughout central Illinois until they reached Quincy in 1996. Angie joined Mary Kay Cosmetics in 1985. She fell in love with the company, its values, and people. Although Angie grew up going to church and Bible school, it was here where she was introduced to a relationship with Christ and His truth. She instilled this confidence and truth in those she met through Mary Kay by enhancing their beauty inside and out. She held her teammates dear and remained close with many of them throughout her life. She, alongside her husband, served at church, nursing homes, and hosted small groups at their home. She thoroughly enjoyed bringing other people joy. Her smile was sure to light up the room. She absolutely loved cooking for people and welcoming guests into their home. She never hesitated to invite complete strangers to family dinner. They were only strangers for a short time. Angie was very involved in her children's lives. She taught them how to ask the McDonald's employee for a free kiddie cone and a refill on their drink with confidence. She showed her daughter how to not throw like a girl. She mowed a baseball diamond in the field next to her house so her kids could have their own Sandlot. She spent countless hours watching baseball and softball games, band and choir concerts, musicals and other competitions with pride. Angie loved talking about her kids, sharing photos and stories with her friends and family of them. Angie was a dreamer. She saw many of these dreams come to fruition throughout her life, always giving credit to God. She long dreamed of building her own home on the perfect piece of land. Once the kids graduated high school and college, they settled just outside of town in Payson on a beautiful lot where they built her dream home. She and Jim made many memories there and made it the wonderful new home for her grandchildren, Ryan, Caroline, Cameron and Thomas to visit. Her grandkids were the stars of her life. She was so delighted to have them as hers and would never hesitate to send a picture or video of their latest endeavor. More recently, Angie became involved with local politics. She served as a precinct committeewoman for Fall Creek as she led and attended many local events and meetings. She recently hosted the first Women's Constitutional Luncheon event to further educate local women on their constitutional rights. She very proud of her country. She always prayed for the leaders and was passionate for patriotism. Angie met many new friends through this channel, and it brought her so much joy. Words can never express the impact Angie had on this world. She was Heaven sent when she was born, and she was able to return home. What she did here on earth is a remarkable thing. Along with her husband, kids, and grandkids, Angie had so many family members who loved her. In addition, she is survived by her mother, Suzanne (Jerry) Davis; her brothers, Joe (Heidi) Thomas and Nick (Mandy) Thomas. Her mother-in-law, Betty Wood; Jim's sisters, Jane (David) Fleming and Janet (Bob) Kohlbecker; several cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, countless friends near and far, old and new also survive. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Thomas; her grandparents, Kenneth and Billie Bean; father-in-law, Samuel Wood; and grandmother, Florence Thomas. Angie would have wanted two things: to save the unsaved, and to celebrate her life. Her spirit remains here in the lives of so many people that will last for lifetimes to come. Her Celebration of Life service will be hosted at a date to be determined. Memorials are suggested to be made to Mary Kay Ash Foundation.
