Mr. Gary Ray Tibbetts, a resident of Ozark died Saturday September 9, 2023, in Apalachicoloa, Florida, from injuries sustained in a boating accident. He was 64 years old. Funeral services with a complete list of survivors will be announced by Holman Funeral Home of Ozark.

Lavonia Allen Griggs, 81, was born December 24th, 1941 to the late Reverend Milton Allen, Sr. and the late Willie Margaret Allen. She gained her wings on November 27th, 2023. Lavonia, affectionately known as "Sister", by her family, was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Willie Lee Griggs, Sr. , her son Ronnie Griggs, her three brothers, Milton Allen, Jr. , Johnnie Allen, Willie J. Allen, and her sister, Annette Smith. Her love for cooking led her to a career as a school cafeteria worker. She worked for the Houston Co School Board as a cafeteria worker in the Ashford High School and the Webb Elementary School for 20 plus years until retirement. In addition to her biological children, she had "additional children" at school as she was often referred to as Ms. Lou or Mama Griggs. She gave money for snacks, lunch, personal items, or just words of encouragement for any student in need. She also quickly became "mama" and "grandma" to the staff at the nursing home. While raising nine kids, she was a basketball mom, a football mom, a cheerleader mom, a pageant mom, a band mom and chaperone, and a neighborhood mom. She always had popsicles in the freezer for the neighborhood kids. She was a lifelong member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church and she loved singing and traveling with the S. C. Walker Choir. In 2022, she was officially recognized for the queen she is, by winning the title of Ms. Crowne Healthcare of Eufaula, AL. Lavonia leaves to cherish her memories, her children Barbara Ann (Roger) Ward, Willie Lee Griggs, Jr. , Linda White, Gayle (Jimmy) Lott, Denise Griggs, Daphanie Kim Griggs, Jacqueline (Thomas) Bailey, and Holli Griggs, two daughters in law, Eliza Griggs and Henrietta Griggs, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, a special sister in law, Daisy Griggs, members of the S. Stephanie Alveta Pennywell known as "Fe" was born December 12, 1967 to the late William Billy Hawk and Georgia Chrisana Hawk in Dothan, AL. Stephanie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Northview Christian Church where she remained a member under the leadership of Rev. Hart Ramsey. Stephanie was a Northview High School graduate of the class of 1986. She received an associate degree in business from Wallace Community College. Fe was a daughter, wife, mother, foster parent for six years, sister, cousin, friend but most of all a woman of faith. She was a woman devoted to God and her family. Fe was strong, courageous, brave giving, and loyal beyond measure. She never met a stranger and had a heart pure of gold. Fe was the one that you could call to pray or fight. She was a little piece of leather, but well put together. She was a prayer warrior with strong determination and belief in the word of God. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 91. Mr. William Eddie Adkins, Jr. , a resident of Ozark, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the age of 83. Funeral services for Mr. Adkins will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, October 28, 2023 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Josh Sims and Reverend Michael Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Enterprise City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Saturday from 10:00 A. M. until service time. Mr. Adkins was born April 12, 1940 in Enterprise, Alabama to the late William Eddie Adkins, Sr. and Era Belle Stanford Adkins. He worked in the grocery business for fifty years and sang in multiple Gospel singing groups over the years all over the southeast. He was a loving husband and father who loved the Lord, bass fishing and FSU Football. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wilmer Lee Adkins (Winifred); three sisters, Edna Carter (Bob), Evelyn Creel (Perry) and Mary Nell Duncan (Glen). Survivors include his wife (Married forty years in December), Judith Kay Harding Adkins of Ozark; his children, William Eddie Adkins (Kim), Karen Grantham Watson (David), Christopher Arthur Adkins (Susan), Billy Grantham (Kathy), Annisa Kay Grantham, Teresa Grantham Barnes (Chris) and Timothy Lee Adkins (Tina). Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Lu Max Willoughby, a resident of the Rocky Head Community, passed away Thursday morning, October 19, 2023, at Moundville Health and Rehabilitation. He was 84 years old. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P. M. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Rocky Head Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Downing officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday in the church from 1:30 P. M. until service time. Active pallbearers will be Colt Cadwell, Jeremy Tisdale, Evan Willoughby, Hunter Friday, Caleb Chambers, Grady Fulbright, Tapin Fulbright and Josiah Fulbright. Mr. Willoughby was born August 28, 1939 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late James Downing Willoughby and Lena Davis Willoughby. He served in the Alabama National Guard. Mr. Willoughby spent many years working in sales at Dunn Wholesale Hardware in Ozark and in maintenance for Dale County Schools. He was an active member of Rocky Head Baptist Church and a member of the Ariton Masonic Lodge. He was a man who loved to farm and spent much of his retirement in his beloved pea patch. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to pull practical jokes on unsuspecting friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Hughes Willoughby. He is survived by his three children, Donna (Philip) Cadwell, Susan (Jimmy) Tisdale, and Gary (Jennifer) Willoughby; five grandchildren, Colt (Alex) Cadwell, Jeremy (Jaymie) Tisdale, Sarah (Hunter) Friday, Olivia (Caleb) Chambers, and Evan Willoughby; three great-grandchildren, Grayson Tisdale, Griffin Tisdale and John Tillman Cadwell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Anne Agerton, age 82, of Jefferson, Georgia (formerly of Ariton) entered rest Wednesday October 11, 2023. Mrs. Agerton was born in Dale County, Alabama the daughter of the late Ray Weed and Margaret Dorriety Weed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Weed. She has always had a fighting spirit and optimistic attitude in life including overcoming Stage III breast cancer 21 years ago and throughout her 14 month battle with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Agerton retired from Modern Maintenance, Tucker, GA as an office manager and was a member of Jefferson First United Methodist Church, Jefferson, GA. She adored her family and was blessed to have three beautiful daughters and five wonderful grandchildren. She loved playing handbells at the church as well as playing piano at home with Bill accompanying on the guitar. She loved going square dancing with Bill and being outside walking or working in the yard. Most of all supporting her family in all their activities. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Bill Agerton of Jefferson, GA. Three daughters, Lori Agerton English (Jeff) of Sandy Springs, GA, Vicki Agerton Fendley (Morris) of Harrisonburg, VA and Jill Agerton Youngblood (Ryan) of Jefferson, GA. Five grandchildren, Aidan English, Caitlyn Fendley, Jackson Fendley, Ella Youngblood and Alia Youngblood. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P. M. Sunday October 15, 2023 at Jefferson First United Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Funderburke officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall. A memorial service at graveside will be held 3:00 P. M. Monday, October 16, 2023 in Universalist Cemetery in Ariton, Alabama. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of local arrangements.
