Dorothy was a devoted wife to her late husband Charlie who passed away in 2014. Loving mother to Rachel (Dennis) Thieroff and grandmother of Vivian Thieroff. She was a faithful woman and was a member at Ruthfred Lutheran Church. Raymond Joseph Guttendorf, age 102, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Cherished and beloved husband of 56 years to the late Elisabeth "Libby" Brady Guttendorf. He will be dearly missed by his children, Ann Guttendorf, Robert (Nancy) of Gaithersburg, MD; Jane Guttendorf, Mark (Camille) of Annandale, VA; Ellen (Mark) Haywiser, Susan Guttendorf and Raymond James of Bridgeville, Pa. Cherished by grandchildren, Elisabeth (Allison) Liberty, Nathaniel (Dana) Guttendorf, Alyssa (Michael) Austin, Nicholas Guttendorf, Hunter Guttendorf, Noah Guttendorf, Fr. Isaac (Paul) Haywiser, OSB; Peter Haywiser, Luke (Lindsay) Haywiser and Stephen Haywiser. Son of the late Nicholas H. and Bertha M. Guttendorf; predeceased by siblings Ruth (George) Kratsas, Robert, John (Edna), Mildred (Patrick) D'Amico, Bertha (Eugene) Fischer and Rev. James Guttendorf. Dear brother-in-law of the late Alexander (Lavon Brady, Hazel Allen Brady), John Brady, Ursula (Vincent Gannon, Charles Appel) and James (Norma) Brady. Also survived by many loving nephews and nieces. Ray was born July 14, 1921 and grew up in the Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh, attended St. John's Elementary School, graduated from Central Catholic High School, Pittsburgh, PA in 1939. He completed a Machine Drafting Program at Connelley Vocational in 1940 and was employed by H. K. Porter Co. as a mechanical draftsman from 1940 to Jan 1943 creating locomotive layouts and drawings. He enlisted in the US Army in Feb. 1943 and served in the 262nd Infantry Regiment, 66th Division (Black Panther Division). He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Battle Stars for his service in Northern France during World War II. Following his active duty (1946), he served 6 additional years in the Infantry Reserves. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by Bechtel Bettis (formerly Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory) from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. Ray married Libby Brady (Monongahela, PA) in 1955 and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage before her death in 2011. They raised their 7 children in Bethel Park, PA. Ray was a much loved father, and devoted "Pap" to his 10 grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and proud member of the local AGA (Agitator's Golf Association), winning the champion title 3 times. He was proud of his hole-in-one at the age of 87! Ray also enjoyed playing bridge and coaching little league baseball. He was a very devout Catholic and enjoyed attending daily Mass after retirement. He was a founding member of St. Valentine's Church and was active as a counter, and with the RCIA program. Mostly, he enjoyed reading, spending time with his family-especially dinners, holidays and beach vacations. He will be warmly remembered for his kind, gentle nature. The family wishes to thank the UPMC Family Hospice team (especially Jenn and Rosie) for their kindness and compassionate care over the last 6 months. Gary Carmen

Gary Carmen, 61, of South Park, passed away on November 22 after a courageous battle with a fourth bout of cancer that began at the age of 21. Gary Carmen was born on August 4, 1962 to Fred and Ida Carmen from Bethel Park. After Gary graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1979, he worked with his father in their family business "Fred Carmen and Son Custom Home Builders" established in 1957. Following his father's death in 2003 he continued the family business until November of 2023. Gary loved working in construction and never retired. He spent time outside of this job as a classic car enthusiast along with occasional small game hunting. He also enjoyed seeing his children participate in sports and being actively involved as a father, step grandfather and stepfather. During Gary's last year of life, he founded the #Garystrong Annual Classic Car Show that had its inaugural show in October 2023 at the Highpoint Fitness Center in Bethel Park where all of the proceeds went to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Ida Carmen, his son, Tanner and his sister-in-law Sally Carmen. He is survived by his wife, Joan Cunic-Carmen, his children Colton and Danielle (Josh) Peterson, brother Tom (Laurie) Carmen, sister Sandy (Zeb) Jansante, his step children Helen Banai (Derek Ewing), Joanie (Chuckie) Trax, Stephanie (Derek) Prins, and Zachary (Brittany) Banai, grandsons Samuel and Grant Banai, Luke Trax, Wesley Prins and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26 at 2:00- 4:00 pm and 6:00- 8:00 pm at the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (RT 88), Library.
