Harrisonville, MO

Celebration of life services for Michael Scott Lemm of Harrisonville, Missouri will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20 2024 at the First Christian Church in Butler, Missouri. No visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Inurnment will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri at a later date. Contributions to First Christian Church of Butler. Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com. Michael (Mikey) Scott Lemm was born on September 3, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri to Nathan Harry and Mamey Lucille Krause Lemm, and was the 9th child born into their family. He was a “Lemm,” like some of his siblings, had that dark hair and those dark brown eyes. Mikey spent most of his life in Kansas City, Missouri, but had resided at Crown Care and Rehab in Harrisonville, Missouri for the past 10 months, when he entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Mikey loved his life and was always a happy person, even though he had a very tragic accident at the age of 3 years and 10 months old, which changed the course of his life greatly. He was, and always has been our “little brother.” Mikey did remain in our family home until 1980 and was attending the Sheltered Workshop of the Greater Kansas City Foundation for Citizens with Retardation. As his needs became greater, he was relocated to the Jean Patterson Group Home in Grandview, Missouri. Mikey continued to love and see his family, but found a “2nd family” with Jean and Dixie. He remained in their care for about 30 years, when in 2010, his care was transferred from the Regional Center to the Nova School. Mikey started attending the Nova School Day program, and lived in group homes in Grandview and Kansas City, until his health had declined. Throughout all these years, his family was still very important to Mikey. He loved and knew his family by their names, and also his nieces and nephews. They all loved their “Uncle Mikey” as well as the great-nieces and nephews, who also loved “Uncle Mikey.” Mikey’s loves and likes in life included the following, but most importantly was “Popeye!” He loved Popeye and could always sing The Popeye Song. He loved family get-togethers with eating, anything sweet (especially chocolate), watching TV, singing, Santa Claus/Christmas, Batman and Gilligan’s Island–especially “Mary Ann!” Mikey also loved the KC Royals and watching the KC Chiefs. He was able to watch them win during his final evening. Mikey was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Mamey Lemm; all his grandparents; brothers, Gary and Nathan Jr.; and sisters, Gloria and Rosa. He is survived by sisters, Nancy Hukkanen-Campbell (Mike), Marilyn Eneff, and Phyllis McBrayer (Everett); brothers, Rick Lemm and Tim Lemm (Janet); aunts, Sylvia Kissinger and Gertrude Berg of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, caretakers and friends. A big “Thank You” to Crown Care Center and One Community Hospice for all their care and concern!!! To plant Memorial Trees in memory of , please .
