Gary Brown Obituary

"Gary J. Brown, 81, of Davenport, Florida, formerly of Danbury, Connecticut, died April 23, 2023 at AdventHealth Celebration Hospital in Celebration, Florida. Private services will be conducted at a later date. Gary James Caddy was born March 15, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Glenn Grimshaw Caddy and Margaret Eleanor (James) Caddy. As a child, he moved with his mother to Singer Island, Florida, before settling in Bethel, Connecticut with his mother and adoptive father James Cover Brown. He graduated from Bethel High School, class of 1960. After graduation, Gary enlisted in the Marine Corps, and served from 1960-1966, including in Morocco where he earned Meritorious Masts as Marine of the Month and as NCOIC of the Dog Kennels. After the Marine Corps, Gary worked in Connecticut for United Reproductions and Vanderbilt Chemical and then began a long history in the printing business, first at Deret Color, then Snap Out Business Forms, and then as the owner and operator of his own printing companies Danbury Business Forms and General Business Forms with his wife, Karen N. (Boughton) Brown, whom he married in Danbury on June 1, 1968. Gary maintained a home on Block Island, RI for many years and enjoyed fishing and boating on his boat Kimmer. He and Karen moved to Florida in 2001, residing in Jupiter, Celebration, and Davenport. Gary is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter Kim (Mark) Heinrich, Celebration, Florida; granddaughter Kerstin Heinrich, West Hollywood, California; and significant other Dorothy Milligan, Davenport, Florida. He is pre-deceased by his wife Karen, parents, adoptive father, and sister Gwenn Caddy Rose. The family recommends memorial contributions in Gary's honor be made to a pet rescue organization of your choice. "
