With a steadfast Christian faith, Henrietta\u0027s unwavering dedication to her beliefs illuminated the lives of those around her. She was born February 15, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Henry and Blanche (Fritsche) Stults. She married Reed Very and he preceded her death at an early age. She later married James W. Kern who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Margaret Balderas. Henrietta is survived by her sons: Reed (Diana) Very of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Dexter (Debbie) Very of Florissant, Missouri; and 8 grandchildren. Embodying grace and compassion, Henrietta\u0027s life was a testament to the values she held dear, cherishing her time spent reading her Bible and nurturing her spiritual life. A funeral service celebrating Henrietta’s life and legacy will be held at Valhalla Chapel of Memories, 7600 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held before services from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 5239 W. She is preceded in death by her daughter Ashley LaRocca, mother Eileen, and father Joe Larocca.Karen is survived by her son Nathan Hennessey (Meghan Levin), her sister Kimberly Elliott, best friend Scott Hennessey, Son in law Kevin Mansco, and her 4 grandchildren, Chloe and Amelia Hennessey and Bennett and Elizabeth Mansco.Karen grew up in Florissant, Missouri. Raised by her mother and father, with her sister. Karen was a beautiful soul whose life centered around her 4 grandchildren. She was always the happiest when surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was a great friend to many. Meo had a spirit for life and adventure that was contagious to all around her.Karen had a rough last 6 months with many hospital stays following a heart attack and stroke, but she never lost her tough fighter mentality. She was never one to be held back or held down, and so it was time for her to be returned to God. Karen was a gift to us all, and she will live on through her son, sister, daughter in law, best friend, son in law, grandchildren, friends and all of us in the many wonderful memories we have of her. Theodore "Ted" Joseph Sulzer Sr., was Fortified with The Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday December 16th 2023. He passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2024 at the age of nearly 99. Loving son of the late Victoria (Nee Hetkowski) and Stephen Sulzer. Beloved husband of the late Mary Sulzer for 73 years. Loving mother of Ted Jr. (Sharon) Sulzer, Patti (the late Karl) Lawson and Steve Sulzer. Loving Dziadzia of Nicole Sulzer, Mehgan Sulzer, Katie (Joel) Lawson-Burton, Kayla (Brian) Dunlap. Dear Great-grandfather of Lana Sumner, Lennon, Austen, Elliott Dunlap and Theodora Jane Burton. Loving brother-in-law of Dolores Burdzy (the late Edmund), the late Henry and Josephine Podolski, the late Frank and Marilyn Sendobry and the late Jack Sendroby. Our dear uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many.Ted was very proud of his Polish heritage, being a member of The Polish Falcons and singing in the choir at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Ted took pride in serving in the Navy at US Naval Airbase #825 in the South Pacific Islands in WWII. Ted was a member of The Greatest Generation, decorated naval veteran and Past Commander of American Legion Post 380. He was retired from Mallinkrodt for 36 years and a 60 year member of UAW local 1887. Ted was a good story teller, enjoyed playing with his dog Lulu, reading, puzzling, kick-boxing, playing the accordion, time with family and friends, and watching the Blues and Cardinals games. Rest in Peace Pops, no more worries. A long life well lived.The family would like to thank Accent Care Hospice and United Energy Workers nurse Mandi, for keeping Pops comfortable. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in ted's name to Toys for Tots, Humane Society of St. Louis, The USO, St. Jude Children's Hospital and St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church.A Visitation for Ted will be held at Hutchens Mortuary (675 Graham Rd. Florissant, MO 63031) on Sunday, March 3rd from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Polish Catholic Church at 11:30am on Monday, March 4th, 2024, with burial to immediately follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, including Full Military Honors.

Bessie Joyce Higgins

Bessie Joyce Higgins, was born 23 March 1935 at the renowned Homer G. Phillips Hospital, Saint Louis, Missouri, to Lewis Hendrix Harrison and Bessie Inez Redditt Crockett. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Bessie, her sister Anita June, and husbands Obie Higgins and James Bell. Bessie confessed a belief and trust in Christ at an early age. Bessie joined the Pleasant Green Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. G.H. Pruitt. She later joined Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. R.F. Davis, where she served as an usher for many years. Joyce grew up in St. Louis, MO and graduated from (segregated) Sumner High School in January1953, with a High School Diploma. She married Obie Higgins in early 1954. Joyce (as she was fondly called) later worked in Indianapolis, Indiana for the Federal Government. She returned from St. Louis from Indiana to also worked for the United States Army Material Command as a keypunch operator for about 3 years. Joyce later began working for Union Electric (aka Ameren) as a keypunch operator. Moving through the ranks at Union Electric, Joyce became one of the first women meter readers and electrical service disconnect employees, in the St Louis metropolitan area, in the later part of the 1970’s. Joyce retired from Union Electric in 1984. Joyce and Obie (Otha) Higgins produced seven children during their union. She later married James Bell and moved to Las Vegas, NV for several years before returning to St Louis in 2018. Joyce was avid seamstress who loved sewing. She had a passion for reading comic books, and watching old black and white movies; Charlie Chan was her absolute favorite. Joyce responded to God’s loving whisper to come from labor to rest on February 17, 2024, at her home in Florissant, MO. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory seven children: CMSgt (USAF-Ret.) Myron C. Higgins (Richmond, VA); Michael E. Higgins (Alamogordo, NM); Cynthia M. Price; Jeffrey L. Higgins; Aaron J. Higgins; Gregory L. Higgins; and Lisa R. Morrison all of St. Louis, MO; 3 Daughter-in-laws Gillette (NM), Allicia and Karen; 2 sons-in-law David Morrison and Darryl Price, 2 nephews Kevin Batchelor (New York City, NY) and Sean Batchelor (St. Louis. MO), along with 25 Grandchildren, 42 Great-Grandchildren and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends, with1 special lifelong friend Mrs. Marcella Austin. He is survived by his wifeKathy (Tuepker) Ballou, mother Mollie Ballou, brother Doug (Doug) Ballou, daughterLyndsey (Benjamin) Augur, son Matthew (Brittany) Ballou, five grandchildren- Carter,Amelia, Mackenzie, Eric, and Natalie, his beloved dog, Brady and many friends andfamily. He was preceded in death by his father Stuart Ballou.Brian was born in Belmond, Iowa on August 18, 1956. He moved to St. Louis when hewas a teenager. He attended Broadcast Center in St. Louis for Broadcasting school andworked in Jefferson City for a while. While working as a manager at Pizza Hut, he metKathy, his waitress at the time, and the rest is history. He was a man of many hobbiesincluding golfing, cooking, building computers/stereos/speakers, cars and tinkering withmany projects around the house. Bud loved golfing every Friday and he recently got anew stereo system to enhance his love of music. He self taught himself to play piano. Henever met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. Heretired from his job in Environmental Services at Schnucks in 2020 to spend more timewith his wife. He was a colorectal cancer survivor and just celebrated 21 years cancerfree. He will be missed by everyone.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.Services: Hutchens Mortuary and Cremation Center. Visitation February 27th from 12-2pm. She was preceded in her death by her siblings, Rosemary Huber, Thomas Gleason, Ruth Ostoski, Richard Gleason and Margaret Kaufmann. A loving mother and caregiver to Deborah (Gary) Scott, Michael (Jenny) Walsh, Patricia Walsh (Russ Richter) James (Carol) Walsh, Timothy (Nancy) Walsh, Daniel Walsh, and Thomas (Cindy) Walsh.She was preceded in her death by Michael, Timothy, and Daniel.She was a loving grandmother to 16 and great-grandmother to 20 with 2 more on the way. A dear aunt and great aunt to many.She recently was a member of Assumption Church in O'Fallon, MO. Her Catholic faith was a huge part of her life up and until her last day. You would leave her house and she always said "Pray for Me" Jean worked at Monsanto until the birth of her first child and at then dedicated her life as a loving mother, care giver, and homemaker. She always made sure to have a hot meal on the table followed by some type of dessert.Jean enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and gambling on the boat and at parish picnics. She had the luck of the Irish that followed her.A Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Assumption Church at 9:30 am, followed by the Celebratory Burial Mass at 10:30 amIn lieu of flowers (her specific request) consider a donation in her memory to Landon's League Foundation (www.landonsleague.com), Landon is her great grandson and the non-profit organization provides research and supporting development of cures for rare pediatric genetic disorders
