It is with great sadness that the family of, Freda Kathleen Baugil, 101, of Northwest announces her passing on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Front Centre, Freda was the daughter of the late William and Lois (Cross) Wentzell. In her earlier years Freda worked doing homecare for Capt. Angus Walters and she was very proud to work for his family. She later went to work in Halifax and cleaned for various families in the city and then returned home where she brought up her family. Freda was the oldest member of the Northwest United Baptist Church and she was faithful to her church. Over the years she was a member of the Senior Citizen's Club, where she enjoyed a good game of cards and in later years playing bingo at the nursing home. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Her love of life, family, friends and the community at large, were so important to her. Freda's quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her. She was a golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives. Freda is survived by her son, David of Northwest; grand-daughter, Christine (Kevin) Abreu, Halifax and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell, son, Robert, her companion in later years, Wilson Fraser, brother, Alvin Wentzell; sisters, Carrie Young and Eva Veinotte and step sister, Hilda Dober and step-brother, Garnet Wentzell. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A service to Celebrate Freda's life will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a. m. at the Northwest United Baptist Church, Northwest, Rev. Richard Moore, officiating. Interment will be in the Sunny Valley Cemetery, Centre.
