Bonita Mae "Bonnie" (Spangler) Rose, 72, of Greenwood, DE passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a short, courageous fight against ovarian cancer. She was first cared for by her family and then by the diligent team at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford until she passed on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Bonnie was born in Bluefield, WV, the daughter of the late Thomas Edison Spangler and the late Aleta Ann (Lamb) Hale and stepfather, the late Harold Hale. She was raised in Narrows, Virginia where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Scotty. She graduated from the medical technology program at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. After settling in Delaware in 1974, she worked as a medical technologist at Milford Memorial Hospital for 18 years in the hospital laboratory, and found great fulfillment during her time as head of the laboratory's blood bank. Bonnie was a compassionate, sparkling soul. She made friends everywhere she went and found joy in making connections with people. She had many gifts; most remarkable was her caring ability to make each and every person feel appreciated and loved. She was a phenomenal cook who enjoyed filling the stomachs and hearts of family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting Nana to her beloved granddaughters. Not just a people-person, she loved animals as well; always caring for multiple fur-babies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Connie Meredith, her half-sister Stacy Bostic, her uncle, Edward Lamb, and her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kent Rose, Bertha (Rose) Carroll, Ramona (Rose) Howell. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Scott Rose; her daughter Ashley Venett and son-in-law Steve; her beloved granddaughters Audrey and Amara Venett; her sisters-in-law, Shirley (Rose) Powell and Eleanor (Rose) Pate; her beloved aunt, Freta Lamb; many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. A Celebration of Bonnie's Life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may call from 2 - 2:30 pm.
