Franklin "Frank" Lee Lombard, 59, of Burlington, died Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Born May 20, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the son of James Lombard and Beverly (White) Baker. He married Billie Piper on August 24, 1996. Frank worked as a Q&A Inspector for Tyson Foods for 32 years. He loved going to the casino, golfing, mushrooming, and watching Nebraska and the Kansas City Chiefs football and the Kansas City Royals baseball games, especially during Sunday family dinners. He loved buying and setting off fireworks and cuddle time with his cat Midnight. He is survived by his wife, Billie Lombard; two daughters, Monica (Robert) Maring and Amber (Chet) McBride and two grandchildren, Wyatt McBride and Kole McBride all of Burlington; and two brothers, Richard (Jessica) Baker of Kansas City, Missouri and Steven Baker of Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service for Mr. Lombard will be held at 6:00 p. m. Wednesday, September 13th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Ron Jewett will officiate. Visitation with family will be held from 4:00 p. m. until the time of service on Wednesday. According to his wishes, cremation will follow the funeral services and has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Mel C. Davis Schiefer passed away surrounded by her family in Burlington, Iowa, on December 5, 2023. She was 79 years old. Mel was born September 6, 1944 in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Jesse and Alta (Hogan) Harper. Mel was a kind hearted woman who had a passion for helping people. She achieved her Masters degree to work as a mental health therapist to further that goal. Mel loved spending time with her children, grandson and siblings. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, antiquing and her cats. Her kindness and compassion will be missed, but her memory will live on through all who love her. Mel is survived by her daughter, Melanie Davis; grandson, Alexander Buckingham; siblings; Robin (Larry) Scism, Catherine Harper, Delton Harper, Ray Dean Scism (brother-in-law), Steve Buckingham (son-in-law) and Diana Wolfe longtime friend and care Giver, and multiple nieces and nephews. Sadly, Mel is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Schiefer, her children, Tony Lee Davis and Terri Lee Buckingham; siblings, Jessie, Lawrence, Lonnie LuCreta, Glenda, Mary, Kenden, and Homer; her parents, Jesse and Alta; and her beloved cat, Stormy. Cremation services have been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Missouri. Linda (Stamp) Lemon, 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023, surrounded by family at Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. Linda was born June 1, 1952, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Darlene (Coleman) Conway and Carroll E. Miller. She spent a great deal of time with her maternal grandparents in Knoxville, growing up in the church where she developed a love of music and singing. She learned to play piano by ear and participated in choirs at church and school. Linda married her first husband, Jake Jacobson, 1973, in Nevada, Iowa, where they made their home and raised two sons, Derek and Laiff. Linda and Jake had a country band for many years and they played gigs most weekends. Linda loved to sing and be on stage, it was her favorite thing. She moved to Burlington, IA where she met her true love, Jim Stamp. They married in 1985. A union that lasted 22 years until Jim passed away. Linda was married three times, but in her words, "Who's counting Dahling". Linda was a paralegal and worked for Crowley & Bunger Law Firm for many years and made lifelong friends of her coworkers, whom she loved dearly. She also owned and operated a store in downtown Burlington for a few years called "Guess What?" She then retired and moved to Florida for more sun and fun. She met many more lifetime friends there. After several years there she moved back to Burlington in 2022. She had a contagious love of life that helped her through even the hardest of times. Linda was faced with a cancer diagnosis only six weeks earlier, but in true Linda fashion, she lived each moment until her last. She maintained that "let's party" approach to life and enjoyed seeing family and friends until her last breath. She laughed often and had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She was a very generous person and was always willing to help others. Linda enjoyed socializing and drinks with the girls, dancing, singing, social media, and crafting. And she loved her cats like family. She was a very generous person and was always willing to help others. Linda's family is not defined by blood as she treated everyone like family. She is survived by her sons and spouses: Derek and Teenae Jacobson of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Laiff and Denise Jacobson of Dixon, Illinois. Step-children: Gregg and Christy Stamp, Louisville, Kentucky Siblings include: Cindy and Randy Krauel of Carroll, Iowa, and Dayton and Nicole Larpenter of West Burlington, IA, and John and Teresa Miller of Ash Grove, Missouri, and many wonderful, loyal, lifetime friends. William Theodore Preuss of West Burlington, Iowa, passed away December 1 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House surrounded by his daughters. He was 96. William (also known as "Ted" or "Bill") was born May 25, 1927, in New. London, Iowa to Loren (Elliott) and Walter Preuss. He graduated from New London High School. He was a World War II-era veteran, serving in the US Army. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. In 1952, he married Joanne Glenn in West Burlington, where they made their home and raised their family in the years ahead. Ted worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for more than 20 years. He later joined the Maintenance Department of the Burlington School District. A friend to all, Ted enjoyed a full, fun and active life. He loved fishing, golf, bowling, "dropping a few nickels" in his favorite slot machines, working on cars, The Lawrence Welk Show and spending time with friends and family. He was always up for a great buffet and a drive down to the Mississippi River. He remained in his home after Joanne's passing in 2008. Survivors include his three daughters: Martha (John) Kruse, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Nancy Preuss, West Burlington, and Barb (Shelly Albus) Preuss, West Des Moines. Two grandchildren: Brian (Tory) Kruse of Perry, Ohio and Bonnie Kruse, Omaha, Nebraska and. Three great grandchildren: Avery, Carter and Braxton Kruse of Perry, Ohio. Dorothy Ann Schneden, 94, of West Burlington, Iowa, died Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. Born August 10, 1929, in Clark County, Missouri, she was the daughter of John and Lelia (McDermott) Ellison. On December 26, 1957, she married Virgil Schneden in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2008. Dorothy was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, especially for family dinners and served for many funeral luncheons. She was handy with crafty things and enjoyed ceramics, was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching her favorite driver Mark Martin. In addition to being a homemaker, she volunteered for many years at the hospital gift shop. She is survived by her four children: Sister Peggy Duffy of West Burlington, Lisa Coy of Bettendorf, Iowa and Terry (Diana) Schneden and John (Janene) Schneden both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren with one on the way and one sister Mary (Fritz) Snyder of Keokuk, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister Martha Self. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Schneden will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, December 5th at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church of Divine Mercy Parish in West Burlington. The Rev. Father Dominic Nguyen will be the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Burlington. Visitation will be from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. Monday, December 4th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. Jean M. McKinney, 93, of West Burlington, Iowa, died Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Oakview Care and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington. Born February 7, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Schroeder) Engelmeyer. After graduating high school, she graduated from Quincy College in 1962, in Quincy, Illinois and earned her master's degree in music education through the University of Illinois. She taught music education for elementary students in Hileah, Florida, Griggsville, Illinois and Fort Madison, Iowa and was an orchestra instructor for 20 years for the Burlington school district. She was a devout Catholic and member of Divine Mercy Parish and was honored to meet Pope John Paul II in St. Louis in 1999 and Bishop Sheen in Nauvoo, Illinois. She also attended services at Faith Temple for many years and other area churches in the Burlington area. Jean was an avid fossil collector, loved fishing and playing the violin at church masses and visiting and playing for area nursing homes. While living in Mediapolis, she went to the Mediapolis Care Facility every Sunday to share the word of God and her love for music. She sent monthly checks to India for over 40 years to help support those whom are less fortunate. Jean resided at Oakview Care and Rehabilitation Center for the last two years of her life and was blessed with the tremendous support of her extended family. She is survived by her daughter Ruth (Roger) Tapke, of Ellington, Connecticut; son-in-law, Patrick Mullahy of Burlington; four grandchildren, Lisa (Joel) Langley, Teresa (John) VanUtrecht, Sara Varga and Matthew (Sara) Mullahy; ten great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kay Mullahy, one sister Arlene Futrell and four brothers Joseph Engelmeyer, Paul Engelmeyer, James Engelmeyer and John Engelmeyer. The Mass of Christian Burial for Jean will be 10:30 a. m. Friday, December 1st at St. John Catholic Church of Divine Mercy Parish. The Rev. Father Dominic Nguyen will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A Christian Wake will be held at 5:00 p. m.
