She loved and surrounded herself with animals, friends and laughter. Jillian is now reunited with her beloved Bichon Frise, Miriam Leah AKA Mimi the Wonder Bichon. Jillian displayed enormous courage and tenacity for the last decade as she faced numerous serious health challenges. She not only learned to adapt in so many ways while living on her own and managing these difficult circumstances, she thrived and continued to have unmatched zest for life and for her friends and family until her final breaths. Jillian lived in many cities across the United States but she was always a Canadian country girl at heart. She piloted many long car trips home with her children in their youth so that they could learn about and appreciate Canada the way she did as all proud Canadians do. Jillian studied at several universities in both Canada and the United States, graduating with a Master of Arts in Psychology. She had the opportunity to work with therapy animals for children and senior citizens and she cared passionately about animal rescue. Above all, Jillian loved people and was a natural healer. Her honesty, her easy smile, her embrace, her beautiful eyes, her words of encouragement, virtues, principles, and tough love impacted all of us and continue to comfort us as we begin to understand what life is like without someone as incredible as her in physical form. Jillian leaves her much-loved children Jenny and Matthew and her sister Carol, brother-in-law Dave and nephews Douglas and Scott, and other relatives Tanis, Chris (Candace) and Mark, John Vines, Erika (Kevin) and Alison, Doug Sinclair (Elaine), Ian (Cathy) and Glen (Brenda) Aikenhead and Helen Loubardeas.
