Vy Self Bass, 81, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away on Sunday, November, 26, 2023 at Mary Washington Hospital. Vy was born on August 29, 1942 in Baltimore, MD. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Prior to retirement, Vy worked in the accounting and bookkeeping field. She enjoyed traveling abroad with her husband, especially to European destinations. Vy was a talented painter, with landscapes being her favorite subject. She also enjoyed baking, sewing, reading, and watching movies. Survivors include her son, David Bass (Lauren) of Stafford, VA; four grandchildren, Lindsey Moran (Dylan) of Arlington, VA, Christopher Bass of Philadelphia, PA, and Nick Bass and Jamie Bass both of Stafford, VA; sisters, Sharon Cheshire (Russell) of Fallston, MD and Sheila Crochunis (William) of Essex, MD; brother-in-law Michael Bass (Marge) of Joppa, MD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bass; parents, Clifford and Barbara Self; and brother, Steve Self. A service will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.
