Antonio B. Manipis Born May 18, 1938 to Antonio and Amparo Manipis in Cavite City, Philippine Islands. Siblings are Eleanor, Henrietta, and Howard (died 2018). Mother born in Kawai, HI. Father was pathologist for leper colony in the Philippines. Had to curtail pre-med after two years when father died. Joined the U. S Navy at the age of 18 and stationed at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego and Oak Knoll U. S. Naval Hospital before meeting Melina at a youth group Valentines' dance in 1960. Got married 7 months later. Daughter, Angela, was born in 1962 and son, Anthony in 1965. Angela married, lan, after graduating from UC Berkeley. Grandson, Nikko, born to Anthony and Diana in 2000. Anthony died in 2015. Served 3 years as laboratory technician on military transport ship which sailed to Okinawa, Korea, Philippines, Guam, Hawaii. Stationed 2 years at Vietnam hospitals in Danang and Siagon. Later chief-in-charge of hospital laboratories in Guantanamo Cuba, Rota Spain, and Virginia USA. Worked as a med tech at Portsmouth Hospital in Virginia and Alta Bates in Berkeley. After retirement from U. S. Navy settle down in Livermore, CA. Retired working at Livermore U. S. Postal Office. Then worked at Trader Joe's for two years! Hobbies: Raised canaries, white mice, German Shepherds, pit bulls, English bull dog. Loved to fish, garden, read non-fiction literature, and work out at the gym. Visitation 12/10 at 7-8 PM, Rosary 8 PM at Callaghan Mortuary. Gregory Pegues Jr. "Boo", 39, of Dallas, TX, transitioned on Thursday, November 16, 2023, The William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. Mr. Gregory (Boo) Pegues, Jr. , was born November 23, 1983, in Memphis, TN to Eva Jean (Ambrose) and Gregory Pegues. Greg confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Lamar, MS, and later attended church in the Dallas area. Greg attended H. W. Byers/Sand Flat Attendance Center, Holly Springs Intermediate & Junior High, and graduated from Ashland High School in 2002. He later attended Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, TN. After moving to Dallas, TX, he studied Nursing at Tarrant County College, and studied Business at University of Phoenix. Gregory was employed at UT Southwestern as an Insurance Specialist. Greg was a cherished son, brother, and friend who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter illuminated every room he entered, creating a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to share in his company. Family meant everything to Greg. His devotion to his loved ones was evident in the countless cherished moments he shared with sister, parents, nephews, and extended family. On Thursday, November 16, 2023, a week before his 40th birthday, his Maker saw that he was tired and weary and called him home. He sent an angel to tell Boo to come on home and take his rest. Boo leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Eva (Miller) Corbett and Gregory (Gloria) Pegues Sr. ; sister, Unikka Pegues McCaster, whom he affectionately called "Big Sis"; grandmother, Eva Ambrose; nephews, Marcus McCaster Jr. and Thomas McCaster. Also mourning his passing are aunts Anita Pegues and Bonnie Malone; uncles Willam (Betty) Pegues, Michael Pegues, Lorenzo (Diane) Ambrose, Eddie B. (Latoya) Ambrose Jr. , Stanley (Elizabeth) Ambrose, Michael (Kimberly) Ambrose, Bruce (Novella) Ambrose; 4 step-siblings; and a host of cousins. His Grandparents, James Russell Adair, Thelma Pegues Shepard, Eddie B. Ambrose, and a close Uncle Carl (Ruby) Ambrose, all proceeded him in death. In addition to his immediate family, Greg formed deep and lasting connections with friends who became like family. His loyalty and camaraderie enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend. As we mourn the loss of Greg, let us remember and celebrate the beautiful soul he was. In our grief, let us find solace in the memories we shared, the laughter that echoed through the years, and the love that will endure beyond the limits of time. Elaine Harrell Mitchell, a long-time resident of Dallas, Texas, went to be with her Lord on December 2, 2023. She left this world surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. Born on October 22, 1931 to Marshall Allen Harrell and Mary Lee Blackburn Harrell, Elaine grew up with her two brothers, Marshall, Jr. and Donald, in San Antonio, Texas. She came from a long line of Texans, certain of whom were among the Old Three Hundred who helped settle Texas with Stephen F. Austin. Elaine graduated from Alamo Heights High School, and attended The University of Texas at Austin where she majored in the Plan II Honors Program. After completing college, Elaine married Douglas Van Fleet Adamson and they had four children. Elaine raised her children in Dallas where she had a long, dedicated career in real estate. Elaine was a member of Highland Park Methodist Church for over 50 years, PEO, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Tri Delta and several of Dallas's beloved book clubs. She was devoted to and engaged in many philanthropic ventures in the Dallas community. Throughout her childhood in San Antonio, college years in Austin and post college and professional years in Dallas, she made many dear, beloved and life-long friends. Elaine especially loved the arts. Among her fondest memories were of those times spent with her close friends, children and grandchildren visiting exhibits at the Dallas Museum of Art, the Kimbell Art Museum and the Dallas Arboretum and attending symphonies of the Dallas Winds and musicals at Fair Park. She is survived by her four children, Elaine Adamson Morris and her husband, Joe Morris, of Amarillo, Texas, Douglas Van Fleet Adamson, Jr. and his wife, Beverly Adamson, of Durant, Oklahoma, Mary Margaret Adamson, of Dallas, Texas, and Marshall Edward Adamson, of Dallas, Texas, by her eight grandchildren and by her twelve great-grandchildren. Her strength, grace, leadership and constant love for her children and grandchildren has left a lasting impact on all of their lives and they will miss her immensely. The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at the Sycamore at Park Central for their daily, loving care and gentle kindness towards Elaine. It was evident in her joyful and peaceful demeanor. The family also wishes to thank BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their gracious work in tandem with the staff at the Sycamore during Elaine's last days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9th, at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas with Howie Batson officiating. A private family burial will take place at Llano Cemetery. Regene Rose Connell, 92, formerly of Amarillo, passed peacefully in Dallas, Texas on Friday, December 1, 2023. Funeral services are pending at this time and will be posted once confirmed. Regene was born in the St. Francis community on April 19, 1931, to Aloys Paul and Martha Matilda Bichsel. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy and attended classes at Amarillo College and West Texas State in Canyon. She was employed for 39 years at Santa Fe Energy in the Land & Geological Drafting Department. Regene was a member of the Desk & Derrick Club, St. Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary, St. Mary's Choir and St. Catherine's Altar Society Circle. She enjoyed church activities, volunteering, traveling, singing, line dancing, painting, crafts, playing bridge, and especially spending time with family and her special friends. Regene moved to Plano, TX, from Amarillo in May 2014, to be nearer her son, Kevin, and his family, and resided at Sunrise Senior Living until her death on December 1, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, C. J. Bichsel and Maynard Bichsel; and sisters, Georgine Bichsel and Frances Goodin. Survivors include her son, Kevin Connell and wife, Donna; granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Connell, all of Plano, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
