Frances E. Zahn, 81, of Methuen passed away on October 4, 2023. Frances was born on October 23, 1941 in Lawrence to the late Augustine and Mary Reusch. Frances was born and raised on Platt St. in Lawrence and graduated from St. Mary's High School. She met her late husband Bruce when she was in sixth grade at the Rollins School. They were married on October 29, 1961. They had six children, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She loved her brothers and sisters and spent summers with the family at their cottage on Commonwealth Ave. in Salisbury. She loved spending time with her family, especially babysitting grandkids, nephews, nieces or any other kids that happened to need watching. The kids loved it more. She really enjoyed the simple things in life and could be found sipping tea with friends or enjoying a good game of Scrabble. She loved the organized chaos of raising 5 boys and a girl, mostly on Prospect Hill. Too many great memories to sum up in a few lines. We are forever grateful for the love and support that we got from our parents. Frances is survived by her loving family, Kevin and Tina of Methuen, Stephen and Dawn of Hutington NY, Heidi and Rocci Delucia of Salem NH, Eric and Katie Zahn of Salisbury, Robert and Denise of Methuen, and Daughter-in-law Jeanne Zahn and husband Dan Dalphond of Lawrence. "It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Michael P. "Mike" McGreevy, 56, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on November 26th at Lowell General Hospital. Mike was born and raised in Methuen. He was the cherished only son of George M. McGreevy and Terry (Terrio) McGreevy. Michael had a very active childhood, camping every summer in New Hampshire, Vermont, or Brandy Pond/ Sebago Lake in Maine, taking swim lessons with his sisters at Forest Lake, constantly challenging them to swim races, playing pickup baseball games with his friends, sailing and waterskiing at Big Island Pond on 4th of July, body surfing with his cousins at Salisbury Beach, sledding and skating at Nelson's farm, candlepin bowling at the Rec and Sandy's, and playing basketball at the Y. Michael was a graduate of Methuen High School, where he played point guard for the varsity basketball team and had many adventures with his close group of friends. He then went on to earn his degree in Business Finance from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he was a member of the Sigma Gamma Delta fraternity. After college, Michael worked at Verizon for 28 years where he was a customer service rep for major corporate accounts, until his recent retirement. Michael was best known for his sense of fun, and the ability to make us all smile, whatever the circumstance, and no matter how much trouble he was in. Mike could light up a room. As his mother would say, 'Mike was a charmer'. He loved playing sports and after baseball and basketball subsided, he became an avid golfer. Mike was also a devoted lifelong fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. Years were spent with his childhood friends debating who was better in a game, Rice or Evans. Following the phenomenal stats of Larry Bird. And much later, celebrating all the Brady-led victories. He passed his love of New England sports along to his nephews and niece, always ready to talk about last night's game \u0026amp; generously gifting them with memorabilia. Mike also enjoyed spending time with friends at the American Legion, whether it was watching sports, playing pool, enjoying music, or playing cards. Michael was predeceased by his father, George McGreevy, and is survived by his beloved mother, Terry, his sisters Sheilagh (McGreevy) Shiepe and her husband Theodore 'Ted' Shiepe, Jr. , Erin (McGreevy) Sullivan and her husband Edward "Ted" Sullivan, Jr. , niece and nephews, George Shiepe, Aidan Shiepe, Kaitlyn Sullivan, Casey Shiepe, Michael Sullivan, Brendan Shiepe, his dear Aunt and Godmother Kay Donahue, and many cousins and treasured friends. Known as "Mrs. K", anyone who met her was instantly greeted as if they were her own child with a welcoming smile, a warm hug, a listening ear, and a plate of food. Perhaps the only thing more exceptional than her cooking and baking was her loving soul and selfless generosity. Even with careers spanning employment as a jeweler, a bank teller, a French and Art teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Methuen and Saint Joseph's Regional Catholic School in Salem, NH, and a cashier and appliance salesperson at the Home Depot in Methuen, her favorite role was that of family matriarch. She enjoyed going to the beach and lake, knitting, playing with her grandsons, having a hot Hazelnut coffee outside on a warm day, and loved Christmas time. Although she faced countless extraordinary challenges, including a thirty-five-year journey to become a US citizen and a multitude of health issues, she bravely fought everyday with dignity and a smile upon her face. To say she will be greatly missed does not encapsulate the loss of such an unparalleled light of love. Her motto was always to love one another and to always reach for your goals.
