"The Love of My Life, Frances "Fran" White, 78, who epitomized the song "Always and Forever" by the group Heat Wave, passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Easton, MD, on September 7, 2023. She was born in New York, NY, on June 12, 1945. She was the daughter of William Joseph Breen and Lillian Moss. She was briefly relocated to England with her mother, but later returned to the United States as a young child to live with her paternal grandparents. Fran graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in New York City in 1963. After a five-year courtship, she married her beloved Thomas J. White. They were married on April 16, 1967. By August 1969, Fran and Thomas were the proud parents of so called "Irish twins" with one born in July of 1968 and the other August 1969. During the early years of their children's lives, Fran was a stay-at-home mom. Even while raising the kids, Fran focused her objectives on pursuing a teaching career. While she was doing that, her mother-in-law was extremely helpful with the kids. Fran earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pace College in New York in 1970 and continued her education by earning her master's degree in science from Herbert Lehman College in New York in 1975. During those years, Fran and Thomas relocated from the city environment to various communities in Westchester County, NY. Fran worked as a temporary teacher in Greenwich, CT, and Ossining, NY, landing a full-time teaching position at the Carmel Central School District in Patterson, NY. She worked for twenty years as a teacher in the elementary school and as a guidance counselor at the high school. She loved working with children and was a huge advocate for them, much to the annoyance of the administration. While working she continued her own education. She earned her Master of Science degree from the College of New Rochelle in New York in 1983, and a professional diploma in administration and supervision from Fordham University in New York in 1985. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Philosophy degree from Walden University in Delaware in 1986. Due to her early upbringing, Fran was extremely passionate about family. In addition to her children, she adored her grand- and great-grandchildren. Her love for them was equally reciprocated. She never missed a birthday, holiday, or anniversary. At the birth of each grand and great-grandchild, she gifted them a specially created framed needlepoint project for their nursery. She thoroughly enjoyed needlepoint projects and crossword puzzles throughout her life. In addition, she was also the author of several children's books. Due to illness, Fran retired from teaching in 1996. After retirement, she and Tom moved to Easton, MD, in 1998, where they enjoyed life on the Eastern Shore. Unfortunately, the illnesses continued but she beat the odds as the Lord decided she still had work to accomplish and to enjoy her growing family. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by her sibling, Bill Breen. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Thomas J. White; son, Chris White; daughter, Jennifer DiCaprio; siblings, Susan, Jacqueline, Vicki, Michael, and Alice; nine grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Brenda Lorraine Wooden of Easton, Maryland departed this life on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Brenda was 58 years of age. Brenda was born March 1, 1965, to the late Mildred Anna Scott Jones. She attended Easton High School where she graduated with the class of 1983. Anne (Brown) Reed, 93, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, at home, surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Anne was born on August 19, 1930, the daughter of the late Harry and Cordelia Brown, and sister to the late Charles Brown and Helen Flaherty. She and her late husband John "Jack" Reed celebrated 62 years of marriage until his death in 2011. Together, they raised their family in Menoher Heights, PA. She is survived by her son John Reed and wife Kathy, of Winter Haven FL, daughter Anne Pugh and husband Jim of Kent Island, MD, and her beloved grandsons, Ryan Gilmour of Boulder CO, John Reed, of Johnstown PA. and step grandsons Matthew Miller of Los Angeles, CA. , and Luke Miller of Denver, CO. She was blessed with two great grandsons, Tyler, and Luke Gilmour, of Black Hawk CO, and their mother, Lorrin Marsh. Her extended family includes Matthew, Adrienne, Amy, Mason, and Brody. Her dearest friend of 70 years, Joyce Schmid, still resides in Johnstown, PA. A graduate of Ferndale high school, Anne was very active in the Ferndale Historical Society for 20 years. She swam three days a week at the Holiday Inn where she met her beautiful friends "the pool girls. " She loved gardening and always had a beloved pet to spoil. She was a gracious woman and a loyal friend who kept in touch with neighbors and friends. A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined. Michael Wilson

"MICHAEL'S JOURNEY. . . Michael James Wilson gained his wings on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Peak Health Care, "The Pines", in Easton, Maryland. He was born on February 3, 1961 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James William Wilson and Paralee Lillian Void Wilson. Michael's journey began in Baltimore, Maryland then to Easton, Maryland where he moved with his Aunt Undean Smith. He received his education at Easton High School. With a strong sense of duty, he joined the United States Army from 1981-1984, serving his country with honor and received an honorable discharge. After his military service, Michael brought his dedication and work ethic to Easton Memorial Hospital, where he contributed his skills to the environmental service department. His dedication to his work and his country earned him the respect and admiration of those whom he served alongside. Throughout his life, Michael wore many hats, working various jobs including landscaping. He was a man of many interests and he had a passion for discussing politics and staying informed by reading the newspaper. Music held a special place in his heart and he could often be found enjoying his favorite tunes. Sports, too, played a significant role in Michael's life, as he had a love for the game of basketball and actively participated during his high school years. Michael was cherished by many and will be remembered as an overall great guy. His warm and friendly nature drew people to him, and his authenticity and straightforwardness were qualities that his friends and family valued deeply. He had a keen sense for identifying genuine individuals and did not hesitate to distance himself from those he considered to be fake. Michael's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the stories and fond recollections shared by friends and family. He is survived by: two sisters, Pamela Wilson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Patricia Harris Wilson (Melvin) of Anderson, South Carolina; one aunt, Theresa Frasier of Summerville, South Carolina and two nieces, Lisa M. Williams (Eric) of Greenville, South Carolina and Dawn K. Allen of Annapolis, Maryland; one nephew, Eric S. Bethea of South Carolina; one great niece, Erin Williams and one great nephew, Jonathan Williams, both of South Carolina; one cousin, Iris Queen of Baltimore, Maryland; two cousins, Roberta and Bridget Smith, with whom he spent most of his life and three special cousins, Devan (Zineb) Joseph and Javar, all of Easton, Maryland. Michael also leaves to cherish his memory, a hangout buddy who was like a mother, Betty Hayward, and three close friends who were like brothers, Ivan and Marvin of Easton and James Moaney of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of cousins and friends. Curtis Shabazz

"Curtis Shabazz was born June 25, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia, the middle child among Robert and Ruby Lee Hill's three children. In 1948 the family relocated to Brooklyn, New York where Curtis enjoyed making friends as he grew up in the Marcy Houses. Curtis was known to be a silly, fun-loving child. As a youth, his talent for working with his hands led him to take up carpentry in High School. Curtis went on to do contractor work in a variety of settings. During his upbringing, Curtis watched his mother exhibit flawless skill at sewing. He was proud to wear the impeccable custom-made clothing she produced for his tall slender stature. Years later, it was the memory of his mother's talent that inspired him to try to sew for himself only to discover his own gifted hand producing high quality goods. Curtis became masterful in leather craftwork which included accessories and upholstery. He also enjoyed working with mud cloth and prints. His creations were a fusion of American and Islamic aesthetic unlike anything present in the market at the time. Curtis even developed a passion for hat making which required a different set of tools and skill. His unique design perspective made his work distinguishable and much sought after. After many decades of working with his hands, Curtis retired to a quiet life under his sister's care in Maryland. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Curtis is survived by his five children, Curtis (Dora) Hill, Kevin (Audra) Hill, Sheila Hill, Rachele Hill, and Amin Rahseed Shabazz. He was also blessed with 12 beautiful grandchildren. His two sisters, Barbara Monts and Sandra Moye mourn his passing along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. Ronald Lee Nichols affectionately known as 'Ronnie" departed this life on Friday November 3, 2023 at Baltimore VA Medical Center. Born on July 28, 1949 to the late Otis Cornish Sr. and Ethel Nichols. He was educated in the Seaford Public Schools. Ronnie worked for Conagra, and then he became a self-employed truck driver. Ronnie loved driving the truck and would often share stories about going different places he traveled. He was a very kind man who was always willing to help others along the way. Ronnie had a love for his children, grandchildren and he also opened up his home to many foster children. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth of 36 years. "Shirley Reed Blades, 94, of Easton, Maryland, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Willowbrooke Court, Bayleigh Chase Retirement Center. She was born on December 28, 1928, at home, to the late William B. L. Reed and Anna Madge (Higgins) Reed. She attended school in Caroline County, graduating from Tri-County High School in Hillsboro, in 1945 as part of the last class at that school. She continued her education at Goldey Beacom in Wilmington, Delaware. On March 26, 1948, Shirley married F. Harrison Blades and they lived for a short time in Denton, moving to Easton in 1949. Shirley worked at McCord's Laundry as a secretary until 1956. She and Harrison raised two daughters, Patricia and Nancy, and Shirley was a stay-at-home mother during those years. She returned to work in her later years as an assistant to J. McKenny Willis, until his death. Shirley was active in her church, as a founding member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, her girls' school life, acting as room mother and in the PTA, and volunteered at St. Mark's Nursey School in its early years. She loved to play bridge, read, work jigsaw puzzles, and attend activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Harrison, in 1994. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Blades Chapman (Carl) of Easton, and Nancy Blades Harrell (Brandon) of Henrico, Virginia; five grandchildren, Katherine Abernethy (Joe) of Longmont, Colorado, Sarah Chapman of Easton, Jennifer Harrell of Durham, North Carolina, Matthew Chapman (Michelle) of Easton, and Samuel Harrell of New York City; four great grandchildren, Abigail and Logan Chapman and Luke and Penny Abernethy. She is also survived by a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and M. Conway Dryden of Salisbury, sister-in-law, Connie Blades of Easton and several nieces and nephews and their families complete her survivors. Services will be private. William Allen

Age - 70

William Russell Allen, son of the late Clarence Allen and Mildred Weal was born on April 20, 1953. The life of our father, brother, uncle and friend came to a close on October 25, 2023 at the age of 70. Steel Bill, Sweets, Billy O as he was affectionately known by many, received his education in the Woodbridge School District. Upon completion of High School he enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he later received an honorable discharge. While in the Navy, William received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served his country from April 27, 1972 until April 6, 1976. Bill was a skilled worker. Prior to his illness, he held employment at several places which included BCT Construction, Durham Ridge Assisted Living, Lydia's Care, Nanticoke Homes, and More Than A Cut. During his free time he enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, singing, dancing, and enjoyed eating his sister, Bonnie's, cooking. Bill loved the Lord and accepted him as his personal savior. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by stepparents; Moses Weal and Mary Catherine Weal, Mable LaMar; sisters: Valerie Jones, Jennifer Snow, Gail Allen, and Brenda Jones; brother: Clarence A. Allen Jr. and great-grandchildren: Cameron X. Russ and Dontri O. Bolden, III. William leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his devoted children, Shenika L. Parker, Sharay L. Knight, Sharonda E. Jelene Johnson, also known as "Cake" to her closest friends and loved ones, was the daughter of the late Percy L. James, Sr. , and Olevia T. Baines-James. Jelene was born on March 31, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on October 18, 2023, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, surrounded by her children and loved ones. She received her education within Queen Anne's County public school systems. From there, she took on a career as a caregiver, working in several nursing homes, hospitals, and domestic care settings. She finally graced the family business, at Senior Surround Care Assisted Living in Federalsburg, Maryland. As a young woman, she followed her parents on a spiritual journey to attend Price Apostolic Church where Bishop James K. Sidney was pastor. Later, she was baptized under the leadership of Bishop Causton N. Green (Lady Rose Green) of the same Church, and she cherished her church family until the end. Jelene (Cake), enjoyed spending time with her daughter, son and grandchildren, Cooking, cleaning, shopping, dressing and grooming, growing plants and eating crabs. To describe her, she was a very creative and stylish mommom who stayed true to her honey blond hair dye and and sang Shirley Caeser and Candy Staton whenever she felt like belting out in song! Jelene was preceded in death by her parents, Percy L. James, Sr. , and Olevia Baines-James; five brothers, Earl James, Philip James, Percy James, Maurice James, and Emmanuel James; and two sisters, Brenda James and Shirley James.
