Norfolk - Floyd L. Bissonette, 86, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, where friends may call on Monday from 4 to 6 pm. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 am at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hopkinton. Floyd was born on January 1, 1937 in Malone, son of the late Floyd J. and Marjorie I. (Cross) Bissonette. He served in the U. S. Army from 1959 to 1964. He worked for the St. Lawrence Seaway, was a game manager at Wilson Hill and retired from Reynolds Metals as a Anode Tender. Floyd was a family man, avid outdoorsman, and World Class animal wood carver. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, Renotta Bissonette of Rochester, Yancy and Cori Bissonette of Sharon Springs, Brandy and Rick Flanagan of Norfolk and Neuley and Suzanne Bissonette of Winthrop, grandchildren, Cammy and Jason, Akeshia and Tyler, Kelsey and Rob, Zackary and Chase, Emma and Will, Ava, and Bryar, great grandchildren, Lincoln, Lilly, Owen, and Charlotte, brothers, William and Elizabeth Bissonette of Knoxville, TN, Vernon and Sue Bissonette of Cranberry Lake and Leslie Hamilton of Brasher, sister-in-law, Ruth Bissonette, Marlene Bissonette, Rozella Moynihan and brother-in-law, Vernie and Carla Newtown, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Laurel, brothers, Donald, Jerry, Ricky, Andy and Carlton, brother-in-law Gary Hamilton, sister-in-law, Frances Wilson Bissonette and Marla Bissonette. Eugene L. Taylor, 86, passed away on Wednesday November 29, 2023, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with his family by his side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop where visitation will be held Wednesday December 6th from 10 am - 1pm. A prayer service will be held at 11:00am offered by Fr. Ray Moreau. Eugene was born on May 6, 1937, to the late Merchant G. and Loretta J. (Farmer) Taylor. He started school at St. Josephs Academy in Brasher Falls to the old Quonset building in Winthrop and graduated from St. Lawrence Central in 1956. Gene was married to Patricia Snickles on July 12, 1958, at the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton. Fr. Plant had the wedding. He worked on the seaway for several years and had his own dairy farm for many years. Gene and his wife owned and operated Taylor Corner Store in Brasher Falls for 27 years. He also worked for many years for Midstate Elevators with his long-time friend Denis Doyle. Gene was a member of Elevators Construction Union Local 35 out of Albany. Gene enjoyed hunting with his two sons and spending time with his daughters; his grandchildren were very important to him. He had joined many hunting clubs but would rather be in the woods at home with his sons and grandsons. Gene was a member of the Red Tavern Club, East Brook, Everton Hunting Club, a life member of the St. Regis Falls Sportsman Club, Tri-Town Chamber, Knights of Columbus, and the Elks in Potsdam. He later retired to his family home in Brasher Falls, near his family where he enjoyed his two dogs, Molly, and Gabriel for many years; and working in his wood shop, where he made chests, cedar beds, and many wood items for his kids and grandchildren. Gene is survived by his children; David Taylor, Rebecca Riggs, Brian Taylor, Christina McCarthy and her family; grandchildren, Zach and Cynthia Taylor, Ben Taylor and Cory, Abbigail and Jon Sahagun, Emily Taylor, Brianne Taylor, Blake Riggs and Dan, Brittany and Donovan Lawless; great grandchildren, Mason, Aubrey, Avah Jane, Henry James, Theo, and Liv; friend, Nancy McCarthy; siblings, John and Cathy Taylor, Shirley Russell, Corrine Crump, Paulette Reid, Mary Kitchen, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter Emma Kellan Irizarry, age 12. Emma passed away suddenly on the morning of Sunday November 19th, 2023, at her home. Born March 18th, 2011, in Chicago Illinois, Emma was the daughter of Karen and Manny Irizarry. Emma and her family moved to Brasher Falls, New York in August 2001. Emma attended elementary school in Potsdam, NY. Emma was a beautiful and patient soul that left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Full of life, Emma was a smart, sassy, funny, 12-year-old with a silly sense of humor and a magnetic personality. To know her was to love her. She loved music, visiting the museums in Chicago and being around friends, family, and her schoolmates. Emma was a trail blazer, she was the first child with a disability like hers to ever attend our neighborhood school in Chicago and she opened the minds of not just her peers, but also her teachers. She helped Rett research participating in the Igf-1 trials. Emma showed the world at 12 that a disability was not inability. Emma ran the Chicago Half marathon, she went kayaking with her dad, fishing with her grandfather and she loved taking walks and horseback riding. Above all, as anyone who knew her can attest to, she loved her Bubble Guppies. Emma is survived by her parents Manny and Karen Irizarry. Her twin brother Manny Irizarry, older siblings Mallory Irizarry and Ty Irizarry, her maternal grandfather Michael J. Hoag of Brasher Falls, NY, her paternal grandmother Nilda Irizarry of Chicago, Illinois, and paternal grandfather Manuel Irizarry of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. Emma is also survived by countless aunts, uncles, and cousins across the United States and across the globe. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Greenwich/St. Regis Falls- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra F. (Servant) Cox, 82, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. A graveside service will be held at Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls on Friday November 10th at 11:00AM. Born on September 5, 1941, in Malone, NY, Sandra was the daughter of the late John and Luella (Palmer) Servant. She grew up in a close-knit community, which instilled in her a strong sense of family and compassion. Her warm presence and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. After completing her education at St. Regis Falls High School, Sandy was married to William Cox, and they had 4 children. William "Skeeter," Allen, Laurie, and Amy. The marriage ended in divorce and William passed away in May of 2019. Sandra found friendship and formed a special bond with Gerald Melius for many years until the time of his passing. For over 30 years, Sandra devoted her time and energy to working at Stewarts Shops, where she formed lasting relationships with her colleagues and customers. She embraced the beauty of country living, finding solace and delight in the farm she called home. Caring for her beloved chickens brought her a sense of fulfillment and tranquility, and she took great pleasure in tending to them. An avid and talented crochet enthusiast, Sandy's nimble fingers brought to life countless intricate patterns and designs. Her handmade creations were not only a testament to her skill but also served as heartfelt gifts to those she held dear. Sandy's journey through life was marked by simplicity, joy, and a devotion to her family. She leaves behind her children; William "Skeeter" Cox, Allen Cox, Laurie and Robert Bradley, and Amy and Jeff Horton. Sandy's legacy extended to her grandchildren, who brought immense joy and happiness into her life; Steve Singley, Amanda Cox, Mallory Cox, Tyler Cox, Alexander Bradley, his companion Kathy Evans and her daughter Hayley, Joseph (Deidra) Bradley, Matthew Bradley, Brandon (Ashley) Cofrancisco, Nicole (Trevor) Lundberg, and a great grandson, Grayson Lundberg, who was the light of her life. Sandy is also survived by her siblings, Elsie and Arleigh Walker of St. Regis Falls, Edward and Mary Servant of White River Junction, VT. , Dottie and Gary Servant of St. Regis Falls, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sandy's canine companion, Luella, was her faithful and loyal friend, as well as her two cats, Stretch and Boobie. Hopkinton - David L. DeShaw, 63, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice. In keeping with David's wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. A celebration of life will be held at Fourth Coast Cafe at a later date. David was born on November 11, 1959, in Potsdam, son of the late Garland Dale and Linda Mae (Duby) DeShaw. He graduated from St. Regis Falls High School. On July 1, 1978, he married Kelly Jo. Gibson at the Parishville United Methodist Church. They shared a loving union for 45 years. He was a truck driver working for various companies and found his place with Danko Construction for 18 years until he retired. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, riding his motorcycle and riding the trails on his Rhino or 4-wheeler. Having coffee with friends and sharing his "gift of gab" was his absolute favorite past time and spending time with his family. David is survived by his wife, Kelly, their two children, Tabitha and Paul Savage of North Lawrence and Matthew and Lindsay DeShaw of Hopkinton, his grandchildren, Alexys Savage, Ayden Savage, Blake DeShaw, Kylee DeShaw, and Karson DeShaw, his two brothers, Kenneth and Tammy DeShaw of Hopkinton and Timothy and Michelle DeShaw of North Lawrence, his mother-in-law, Sally Gibson, Sister in law Kay Gibson, Brother in law Gerald Gibson, Jr & Lori Michaud, Sister in law Cindy & Burton Chevier II. Griffith, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on October 6, 2023, at the age of 79. Bob was born on October 23, 1943, in Potsdam, to the late Clarence and Wealthea Locke Griffith and he graduated from St. Lawrence Central High School. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His kindness, sense of humor and unwavering devotion to his family will forever be remembered. From a young age, Bob knew the importance of family and forged a deep connection with his high school sweetheart, Connie Kilcoyne. They were married at St. Patrick Church on May 2, 1965. Together, they embarked on a life filled with adventure and joy. They journeyed across the world, but Lake George held a special place in their hearts. They created unforgettable memories through many family vacations. He was a man who believed in taking life at his own pace, transitioning from his younger years as a speed demon to enjoying leisurely drives for coffee while listening to the news. A hardworking and dedicated individual, Bob found fulfillment in his career working for ALCOA, serving in several positions, and retiring as a security guard after 31 years. Outside of work, Bob made it a point never to miss his children's sporting events, no matter what. He also found great joy in attending and showcasing his classic cars at various car shows alongside his grandson, Colby; and as a family they enjoyed 25 plus years at camp. Bob's generosity extended beyond his immediate family, as he actively engaged in his community. He served as Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Stockholm from 2003 to 2021, ensuring the safety and compliance of local properties. Additionally, he served as an Assessor in the Town of Waverly from 1997 to 2005 and as Chairman of the Assessor in the Town of Brasher from 1973 to 1986. For three decades, Bob was a member of the Brasher Fire Department, truly embodying the spirit of service. He was also a valued member of the Stewarts Ambassadors Club. With a passion for sports, Bob was an avid Syracuse University basketball fan. He cheered on his favorite team with unwavering enthusiasm, sharing his love for the game with his family and friends. However, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren, who were truly the loves of his life. Their laughter and presence brought him immeasurable happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Connie Griffith, his son Bob "Bobby D. " Griffith, daughter Tammy Arquitt and her husband Jim Arquitt, son Michael Griffith and his wife Brandi, as well as his brother, Kim Griffith, and wife Nan. His legacy carries on through his cherished grandchildren: Travis (Kati Keilty) Arquitt, Jordan (Megan) Arquitt, Jed (Alex) Arquitt, Colby Griffith, Lexi Griffith, great-grandson Lincoln "The Kid" Arquitt, his nieces and nephews whom he shared a special connection with, and his kind and loyal furry companion, Sampson, affectionately known as Sammy. Besides his parents Bob is also predeceased by a nephew, Joel Griffith; and his mother -in-law, Eileen Kilcoyne. A funeral service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday October 13, 2023, at the Hammill Funeral Home. Royal was born on November 13, 1951in Malone, NY, son of the late Royal A. and Edyth (Conger) Phillips Sr. Royal was a lifelong resident of St. Regis Falls, where he was a volunteer Fire Fighter for many years. He was also a past water superintendent for the town of Waverly. Bear was a member of the Red Nights Fire Fighters motorcycle club, Chapter 35. He loved riding his Harley, hunting, working his sugar bush and hanging out with his fiance and their many friends. Winthrop - Margaret E. Sova, 93, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Margaret was born on September 3, 1930, in Moira, daughter of the late George and Gladys (Deon) LaVare. She married Glen V. Sova, Sr. at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls, on September 26, 1948, and they had four children before his passing on February 28, 1967. She married Joseph B. Sova on December 30, 1977, at St. Patrick Church. He predeceased her on January 12, 2005. Margaret worked at WT Grant then at Ames in Massena. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church. She is survived by four children, Glenn V. Sova, Jr. of Norwood, John and Tina Sova of Brasher Falls, Sheryl and Dale LaFountain of Plattsburgh and Dianna and Kevin Baker of North Port, FL, one sister, Linda Forte of Moira, seven grandchildren, Sara Derushia, Rachel Oswell, Joel and Kelly Sova, Angela Foster, William and Heather Sova, and Nicole LaFountain, 15 great grandchildren, Madison Derushia, Maverick Derushia, Violet Derushia, Xavier Derushia, Wyatt Derushia, Kayleigh Lanning, Gageand Jessica LaClair, Kayla Sova, Evan Sova, Ashlyn Sova, Cheyenne Sova, Aaron Sova, Corey Foster, Morgan and Kyle Wehr and Eric Foster, six great great grandchildren, Jaxon LaClair, Carson Foster, Elizabeth Wehr, Olivia Wehr, Walter Wehr and Zayden Foster.
