Florence Richardson It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Florence (Flo) Richardson of Petawawa, peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the age of 92. Flo was predeceased by her husband of almost 72 years, William (Bud). Flo was born on August 27, 1931 in New Waterford, Nova Scotia where she grew up in a family of 4 siblings -- Shirley Ryan (predeceased)(Edward), Loretta McNeil (predeceased James) & brother, James (predeceased). Flo is survived by her sister, Loretta. Flo moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she & Bud met while dancing. On August 6, 1949 they married & became life-long dance partners. Together, they were devoted parents to their six children: Diane Richardson, Deborah Wheeler (Paul), Pamela Hubbard (Eric), William Richardson (Pam), Wendy Keniston (Jim) & Kelly Childerhose (Mark). One of the things Flo was most proud of was seeing all her children getting along & supporting one another. Flo was affectionately known as "Nana" to eleven cherished grandchildren: Kristina, Jennifer, Jason (Erin), Jody, Kayla, Calvin (Colleen), Melissa, Corey (Breanna), Ryan (Carly), Bradley & Jake (Jessica). Flo had a remarkable gift for making each of her grandchildren feel that they were special. She was also "Great Nana" to ten great grandchildren: Dominic, Logan, Ella-James, Penelope, Raymond, Sophia, Clara, Anna, James & Alexander. In her younger days, Flo had a fine reputation as the "Hostess with the Most-est" and there was always room for one more at her table! She truly had a hospitable & generous spirt. How does one sum up Flo's life of 92 years in just a few words? Most outstandingly, Flo loved her family. Flo was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Flo will also be fondly remembered by many other relatives and friends in the community she loved. A very special "Thank You" for all the loving & caring support of the Access Healthcare Services Team: Una, Janie & Grace; Dr. Linde Corrigan; the many caring doctors & nurses at the Pembroke Regional Hospital; and many support workers who helped Flo fulfill her dream of living out her days in her own beloved home. "Sorry I have to leave you, I must lie down for a little bit. Be patient, one day we'll be together again!" Friends are invited to share their memories of Flo with her family during visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella St. , Pembroke on Friday, September 22, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
