Funeral services for Florence "Anne" Parker, 96, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, will be held 11 a. m. , Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the Indianola I. O. O. F. Cemetery. Anne is survived by her children, Bob (Jan) Parker Jr. , John (Paula) Parker, Melinda Parker, Dennis (Julie) Parker and Julie (Jack) Daniel; eight grandsons, John (Heather) Parker Jr. , Robert L. Parker III, Joshua (Misty) Parker, Dennis (Angie) Parker Jr. , Philip (Rachel) Parker, Lance (Sarah) Parker, Joe (Tracey) Daniel and Jesse (Lynette) Daniel; five granddaughters, Jodi Lynn (Ray) DeMayo, Laura (Rob) Holland, Melissa Parker, Deidre (Ryan) Brown and Kristin (Paul) Coffelt; numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Parker Sr. ; parents, Paul and Elvina Roby; siblings, Betty Williams, Shirley Peppmeier, Paul Roby Jr. , Lila Parker, Otis Roby and Richard Roby. The visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a. m. prior to services on Tuesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Anne to Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Daniel Perry Yando, 93, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away on December 6, 2023. Daniel was born on August 16, 1930, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Esther and Charles Beeby Yando. Daniel served in the U. S. Naval Fleet in the Western Pacific during the Korean War 1950-1954 aboard the U. S. S. Nicholas DDE-449. Following his return from his naval service, he married Doris Lee Crangle. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Lee Yando, his parents, Esther and Charles Beeby Yando, and sisters, Elouise Moe and Mary Alice Yando. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Yando; daughter, Pamela (Robert) Smits of College Station, TX; son, Edwin Yando of Indianola; daughter, Lori Ball of Indianola; stepchildren, Deborah (J. D. ) Ensley, Joan (Stuart) Bailey, Rebecca (Mark) Amundson, and Stephanie (Kevin) Amundson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Daniel's cremains will be buried at the IOOF Cemetery in Indianola. No visitation or service will be conducted as requested by the deceased. Linda D. McGrew, 55, passed away at her home in Indianola, Iowa on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Linda was born on August 5, 1968, in Des Moines, Iowa to Jerald and Janice (Berry) Mills. She attended Southeast Polk High School and received a Medical Transcription Degree from DMACC. Linda grew up in Runnells and moved to Indianola in 1986, where she raised her two sons. Linda worked diligently as a medical transcriptionist for 27 years at Mercy Hospital and Conifer Health Solutions. Linda was unique, authentic, and unafraid to speak her mind. She had an unwavering faith in God, an exceptional ability to listen, was a strong advocate for those in need, and could bring humor to any situation. She was known for her kind heart and was a devoted mother and Nana. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was excited about her yearly Christmas shopping trip with two close friends. Peggy Jane Cox, 73, of Prole, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Peggy was born on October 30, 1950. She is survived by husband, Randy; sister, Ruth Jones; and her five nephews, Paul, John, Pete, Phil and Dave. She was preceded in death by two sisters; nephew Randy Jones; and daughter Cindy, who died at birth. Peggy worked in Des Moines for Selectivend and Iowa Association of Community Colleges. She also worked in Martensdale at Middle River Steel, with her husband Randy, where she ordered steel and kept books. She loved her quilt making and retired to work at the Stitching Place in Indianola with Eileen, Rose and Megan, who she considered family. Peggy is also survived by her special friend and high school buddy, Peggy Clark and Earl Meyer.Show more

Shirley May Hinerman, 85, of Indianola, Iowa, passed on Monday, November 20 at home. Visitation will be held 1 to 3 p. m. , Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Inurnment will follow visitation in the Lincoln Cemetery, Knoxville. Shirley was deeply involved in her community, particularly in her church, where she actively contributed to various activities. Her commitment to Sunday school, leadership in Vacation Bible School, involvement in Christian education, and participation in missionary outreach activities reflected a strong dedication to her faith and community. In addition to her contributions to the church, Shirley had a creative side, operating her own business in cake decorating from home. Specializing in both birthday and wedding cakes, she had a talent for making celebrations extra special. Her skills extended to sewing bridal gowns, really anything to do with weddings, as well as creating bridal flowers. She is survived by her children, Elaine (Duane) Seuferer, Dwight (Mandy) Hinerman, Lyndon (Tara) Hinerman, Lenore (Stephen) Archambo; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and brother-in-law, Gary Hinerman. She is preceded in death by her husband Dwaine; son, Kelvin; parents, Clarence and Marion Howard; brother, Raymond Howard; sisters, Jean and Therese Hinerman. Cheryl Ann (Frey) Lyall, 72, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon doing one of the things she loved, going to see friends at an art show. Services will be held 3:00 p. m. , Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held prior to services, from 1 to 3:00 pm, at the funeral home. Inurnment and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cheryl was born February 16, 1951, in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Maxine (Mace) Frey. She graduated among the top of her class from Villisca High School in 1969. Following graduation, she attended Westmar College, graduating in 1972, with a degree in Mathematics. During college, she had an internship with the United Nations and was one of the few women selected for this prestigious honor. She was united in marriage with Robert Lyall in 1985 and they had two daughters. Cheryl started blazing her own path at an early age. She participated in 4-H, created her own clothes, and was active in sports and extracurricular activities, throughout high school. She loved roller skating and scuba-diving. Cheryl was one of the first female computer programmers starting in the 1970s. She worked in South Carolina and Chicago, before moving to Des Moines, Iowa. Before retiring from CDS Global, she had a long career with Statesmen Group, and The Freedom Group. She constantly found ways to make all feel welcomed, often going above and beyond, many times after hours, in the middle of the night, or simply when someone requested help. Cheryl enjoyed sewing, embordering, making art, playing cards and being with family. She is survived by her husband Robert; daughters, Brooks Lyall and Morgan (Matt) Ginder; grandson, Charles; sister-in-law, Shirley Frey; sibling, Lyle (Susan) Frey; sisters-in-law, Mary Schmidt (Michael Clark), Connie Lyall; and nieces and nephews, Heidi (James) Frey, Michelle (Tony) Frey-Tarbox, Stacey (Jordan) Frey-Chidester, Michael Schmidt, Patrick Schmidt, Emily Schmidt (Sean) Dohoney, Christina Lyall, Nicholle Pendergraft, Sara Lyall, Paul Lyall and Sarah Lyall. Cheryl was proceeded in death by her parents Walter and Maxine Frey, her brother Curtis Frey, and her brother-in-law Glen Lyall. Leonard L. Peek of Indianola, IA died peacefully on October 26, 2023, one month after celebrating his 91st birthday. He was at West View Care Center in Indianola surrounded by members of his family. Born September 26, 1932, in Des Moines, IA to Leonard and Elsie Peek of Carlisle. Later moving to a farm west of Lacona, IA where he attended school. On June 26th, 1954, Leonard married the love of his life, Beverly June Neese, and together they were blessed with four daughters, Linda, Cindy, Debra and Brenda. Services for Christine Amelia "Christy" Schrum, 42, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away early Friday morning, November 17, 2023, will be held 10:30 a. m. , Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola. Christy was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Arlen and Jean Schrum on January 30, 1981. She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and Indianola, with older sister Katherine "Katie" and younger sister Elizabeth "Beth. " Christy graduated from Indianola High School in 1999 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 2003. Christy returned to Indianola in 2014, following work at Walt Disney World and Starwood. While in Florida, Christy developed many close friends and a lifelong love of all things Disney. Regrettably, Christy was unable to achieve her goal of visiting and experiencing Disneyland in California. Since 2014, Christy pursued a career with Walmart, again developing many close friends and colleagues and spending as much time, energy and money, as possible, spoiling her beloved niece and nephews. Christy is survived by her parents; siblings and their families, Katie and Adam Middleswart, Everett and Aileen, and Beth and Stephen Zimmerman, Jason and Grant; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Services for Thomasine Ann Rennenger, 79, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at home, will be held 11 a. m. , Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held, prior to services, from 9:30 to 11 a. m. , at the funeral home. Inurnment of cremains will be held, at a later date, in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel. Thomasine was born on July 28, 1944 in Indianola the daughter of Hartley and Marie (Shriever) Gatrel. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1960. Following graduation, she was united in marriage to Gabe Bowlin and had four children. She was married to John Rennenger and together they had one daughter. Thomasine worked at Hart Supper Value then Simpson College for several years. She also worked at the meat packing plant in Sioux City before going back to Simpson College. Her last job was working for "CDS" Communication Data Services in Des Moines. Thomasine enjoyed flowers and working in her yard, reading romance novels, sewing, and spending time with her family. She and John also enjoyed traveling and taking care of her cats. She is survived by her husband, John Rennenger; children, Gabriel (Sohn) Adams, Thomas (Shellie) Bowlin, Ronald (Sharon) Bowlin, Michael (Kimberly) Bowlin and Danielle Rennenger; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Danny Gatrel. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family will gather at Overton Funeral Home from 1 to 1:45 p. m. , Monday, prior to services. Sharon was born on January 28, 1935, the daughter of William Edgar and Mildred (Gustafson) Myers. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1953. Following graduation, she attended Nursing School in Des Moines and then graduated from the University of Iowa, receiving her bachelor's degree in Social Work She continued her education and received her Master's Degree. Sharon worked in several different places in the Midwest, Texas, California, Hawaii, on the east coast before returning to West Des Moines and then to Indianola. Sharon served in the United States Air Force and enjoyed golf, puzzles and the outdoors. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Hall; nieces and nephews, Pam and Jerry Schippers, Lisa Hall and family, Candice DePerio and family and Kevin Hall and family.
