"Dennis Paul Simpson, age 75 of Blades, DE (formerly of Laurel), passed away on Wednesday September 13, 2023, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 17, 1947, in Milford Hospital, son of Mrs. Beulah (Jester) Simpson and the late Paul Simpson of Harrington, DE. Mr. Simpson graduated from Harrington High School, class of 1965. He furthered his education at Delaware Technical Community College, earning his associate degree in science in Architectural Design. Mr. Simpson was a man of faith and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford, DE. He was employed by DuPont (Seaford), then answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the US Navy in 1967. Mr. Simpson served as radarman onboard the USS Guadalcanal (LPH-7). Following his honorable discharge, he returned to DuPont where he worked a total of 36 dedicated years ending his career with the Information Technology division. Following retirement in 2002, Mr. Simpson continued working with IT positions including ownership of Lap-Top Rescue. Never one to stay idle, Mr. Simpson was active in his community and was honored to assist Veterans with needs and served as a volunteer driver taking them to various medical and legal appointments. He was a member of the American Legion, including Post 24 of Dagsboro, DE, and proudly participated with Wreathes Across America placing wreathes on graves and encouraging others to purchase wreathes and join the annual wreath placing event. Mr. Simpson was an avid fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. His many hobbies included reading and traveling. He also enjoyed woodworking and made many pieces of furniture for family members. Mr. Simpson was proud to participate with the preservation project of Historic Wheatley Methodist Church (Galestown, MD). Spending time with friends and family was what he cherished above all. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather. Mr. Simpson will be dearly missed and forever loved by all the lives he touched. In addition to his father, Mr. Simpson was predeceased by wife and mother of his children, Kathleen Marie McWeeney Simpson, a very special aunt \u0026amp; uncle Larry and Mary Ellen Grinolds, and a nephew Gary Simpson, Jr. all of Harrington, DE. He is survived by his wife, Suellen Wilkins-Simpson; his children: John Simpson (Anna) of Milton, DE, and Megan Simpson of Salisbury, MD; his step-children: Jen Xavier (Billy) of Greenwood, DE, Chrys Wilkins-Gosnell (Eric) of Sharptown, MD and Vickie Rickman (Lee) of Salisbury, MD; his brothers: Gary (Jean) of Denton, MD, Darrin (Laura) of Harrington, DE; his sisters: Gail Brown (Aubrey) and Sherri Stubbs (Barney) of Harrington, DE; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Viewing will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM to Watson-Yates Funeral Home and Crematorium, a Parsell Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 528 East Stein Highway, Seaford, DE. Interment with military honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Wheatley Church 5802 Wheatley Church Road, Rhodesdale, MD on Saturday September 30, 2023, at 1:00 PM. All are welcome to wear clothing in the spirit of the Ravens and/or Orioles.
