Everett Laslie Dorriety Jr. 73, of Laurel Hill, Florida passed away on October 2, 2023, unexpectedly at home. Everett was born on July 29, 1950, in Troy, Alabama to Everette Laslie Dorriety Sr. and Susie Chavis Dorriety. He moved to Okaloosa County earlier this year from Polk County, Florida and has been a resident ever since. After retiring as a machinist at Environ he worked as a convenience store manager, he really enjoyed talking with everyone each day. He loved to be outside planting flowers and doing yard work. Everett was a member of Oakhill Baptist Church and will be missed by all. Everett is preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Susie Dorriety, his daughter, Tina Gavin, his brother, David Dorriety and his granddaughter, McKenzie Taylor. Everett is survived by his wife of fifty three years, Alice Dorriety, his daughters, Lisa (William) Taylor and Deanna (Jerry) Bentley, his brothers, Johnny Ray (Debbie) Dorriety, Richard (Sherry) Dorriety, his sisters, Gail (John) Cotton, Linda (Robert) Schiable and Ann Lee, ten grandchildren, Brandi (Jay), Tiffani (Mike), Joshua (Emma), Brett (Elisabeth), Garth, Shawna (Andrew), Tina (Austin), Mary, Austin and McKenzie, his eleven great grandchildren, Elena, Kaylie, Aubree, Macie, Tye, Melisa, Sadie, Bailee, Averee, Harlee and Weslee and his beloved dog, Sam. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p. m. at First Baptist Church of Laurel Hill with Mitchell Johns officiating. Johnny Neil James of Laurel Hill, Florida, born May 20, 1960, Florala, AL. , Transitioned to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning January 31, 2023, he heard his Master call his name and he answered yes Jesus I'm ready! He was educated in the Florala Alabama School System. He attended college at Lurleen B Wallace where he was a basketball star and stand-out. Currently, he was continuing his education by attending NW Florida College, where he has basically completed his AA degree in Elementary Education, focusing on Physical Education. Johnny worked for years at Louisiana Pacific, then Showell Farms until its closing, later was employed at the formerly known Aero-Space, L3 in Crestview. Mr. James accepted the Lord at an early age joining St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Florala, Alabama under the leadership of Rev. Bell. As an adult he joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Laurel Hill, Florida, under the leadership of the late Reverend Tommie Lewis. He was a civic and community minded person, who has served as a City Councilman in Laurel Hill for many years. He never met a stranger, always a smile on his face ready to engage in conversation, especially about any sports related or city hall topic. He will be remembered for his boisterous, infectious laughter. He was always encouraging all to "Stay focus!" Johnny met and fell in love with the love of his life, Earnestine Robbins to this union of forty one years they were blessed with two amazing sons. And he was a doting granddad, showering his precious grandchildren with love, attention, and support. He is preceded in death by his parents the Late Arthur and Lula V. Ariel Kaye Pitts Barnes, 30, of Laurel Hill, Florida passed away, Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p. m. Monday, June 27, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funeral with the Rev. Ken Harper officiating. Ariel will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 3:00 p. m. until the hour of the service. Born August 17, 1991, in Tifton, Ariel was the daughter of Jessica Pitts Jones and her husband Wilton Jones, Jr. of Laurel Hill, Florida and Lee and Carol Bennett of Tifton. She worked as an event coordinator with Juliette Linens. She was involved with Breast Cancer Awareness and the "Little Black Dress" Event. She was preceded in death by one son, Jesse Herndon. Kevin M. Barnett ll of Laurel Hill, Florida, passed away on December 11, 2021. He was born in Rogers, Arkansas on May 24,1988 to Kevin "Matt" Barnett and Ginger (Seale) Barnett. Kevin graduated with the class of 2007, from Rogers High School, in Rogers Arkansas. At the age of 19 Kevin enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served and earned the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Kevin held a Bachelor of Applied Science in Project Management from Northwest Florida State College. He was employed with Vertex Aerospace in production control and material planner. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Martin "Red" Barnett and Betty E. Henson, and grandfather, Bob White. Kevin is survived by his parents, Kevin "Matt" Barnett and wife, Gail of Lebanon, MO and Ginger Seale and spouse, Bill Capps of Rogers.
