Evelyn Thiel Obituary

Evelyn Thiel, 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, May 6, 2023, at her home. Born November 26, 1945, in Arkansas City, she was the daughter of Lawrence C. and Ethel M. (Leadford) White. She was raised and received her education in Atlanta, Kansas. Following school, Evelyn began her career working at the Cowley County Clerk's Office. She later worked for the Cowley County Probate Court before becoming Clerk of the District Court of Cowley County in Winfield. In 1982, Evelyn took a position with the Supreme Court of Kansas, where she remained until retiring in 1998 as the Director of Program and Personnel for Judicial Administration to the Supreme Court of Kansas. Evelyn was united in marriage to Ronald L. "Ronnie" Thiel in July of 1997 in Winfield. The couple enjoyed their retirement years together in Winfield. Ronnie preceded her in death on December 4, 2017. Evelyn was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading, working crossword puzzles, and her Pug Jack. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events. Her family includes her daughter Paige of Winfield; her grandchildren, Ryan Neal and wife, Jayme of Winfield; Amanda Paige Neal of Winfield; and her great grandchildren, Madisyn Mae Neal, Christopher Ryan Neal, Landyn Scott Neal, and Drelyn Lee Hall. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2:00 P. M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 P. M. The family will greet visitors during that time.
