Evelyn Alice Hausrath, 90, of Mt. Savage, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2023. Born on August 10, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Homer A. and Gladys M. (Machin) Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Alice Frank. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Millard E. "Gene" Hausrath, daughters; Susan D. Brady and husband Ralph, Nancy A. Hausrath and husband Christopher Llewellyn, Carol L. "Kiddle" Robison and husband James, grandchildren; Madyson "Delilah", Travis and wife Amber, Timothy, Don, Katie, great-grandchildren; Noah, Silas, sister; Ruth Norris and her children, Karen, Mary, Tom, who were especially close with her. She was a beautician up until her children were born and made the decision to stay home and care for them. Later in life she went to work for the Board of Education until retirement. Evelyn was a lifelong member of St. George Episcopal Church. Family and friends will be received at St. George Episcopal Church, 12811 St. George Lane, Mt. Savage, MD 21545 on Wednesday, September 13, from 11 AM to 12 PM. Funeral Service will follow at 12 PM with Father John Martin Officiating. Interment will be in St. George's Episcopal Cemetery. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to St. George Episcopal Church.

Frostburg, MD- Virginia "Ginny" (Stevenson) Dick, 65, of Frostburg, MD passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at UPMC-Western Maryland with her family by her side. Born August 9, 1958, in Frostburg, MD, Ms. Dick was the daughter of Wilma "Wink" (Thomas) Stevenson, Midland, MD and the late Robert Stevenson. She was also preceded in death by her son: Shawn Dick. Besides her mother, Ginny is survived by her sons: Steven Beeman (Kim Carey-Crane); and Bobby Dick (Crystal Deter); her daughter-in-law: Jessica Dick; her brother: Kevin Stevenson (Ellie); her grandchildren: Kaylien and Trinitie Beeman; Earrin Deter, Shyanne and Ryan Dick, Nathan, Nikki, Shawn, Jr, and Tristan Dick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Per her request, she will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date.Show more

Kenneth Kennell

Kenneth Leo Kennell, 92, of Mt. Savage passed away at his home on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Born on October 20, 1931 to the late Leo Kennell and Clara (Beal). In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Esther Kennell; sister, Madeline Housel; brother, Earl James "Jim" Kennell. As a young man, Ken worked at the Mt. Savage brick yard and the clay mines. He was later employed at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. which he retired from and went on to drive a school bus for the Allegany County BOE. Ken loved Bluegrass music and was a very talented musician, being able to play multiple instruments. He was a family man and played an important role in his children's and grandchildren's lives. He loved to tell stories, especially about his youth. In his later years, he enjoyed going to lunch with his old friends from the Kelly and visiting his friends and family. He remained very active and at the age of 91 was still working outside and stacking wood. Surviving are his son, Roger Lee Kennell and wife Rickie; daughter, Debbie Wotring and husband Blaine; grandchildren, Jennifer Helmstetter and husband Mike, Ryan Kennell and wife Nora; great grandchildren, Sarah Bryan and husband Brandon, Emily Helmstetter, Hannah Kennell, Madison Grimm, and Abby Kennell; two great great grandchildren, Aden and Brynne Bryan. Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 2-4 P. M. and 7-9 P. M. Sally Wilburn

Sally Lou (Winters) Wilburn, 83, died on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at UPMC Hospital, surrounded by her friend Dena Winebrenner and her nephew, John Wright. Born on September 1, 1940, in Carlos, Maryland to the late Arch and Sally (Haines) Winters. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lowell Troy Wilburn, sister Ruby Lee (Winters) Wright and husband Ray, brothers Earl A. Winters, Donald Winters, and William Winters. Sally attended Beall High School. In 1978, she started work at Frostburg Village Nursing Home as a nursing assistant. She was also employed by Sacred Heart Hospital from 1981-1993. She retired early due to health problems. After retirement, she was a babysitter for several families and loved the children she took care of. She enjoyed painting pictures, playing the organ, cooking meals and baking blossom cookies. She and her husband shared a lot of good memories together before their deaths. Sally had many friends, but favorites were, Dena Winebrenner and husband Dave, Steve Michaels, Dena's brother, who she adored. Surviving is her sister, Ann (Peaches) Winner; nephew, John Wright as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be private. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery.Show more

Linda Lou Yates, 71, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Devlin Manor. Born December 21, 1951 to the late Ida Mae (Brown) and Allan E. Snyder. Linda graduated from Mt. Savage High School; she was employed at the Finan Center and retired from the Fiscal Department at WCI. She loved sewing and enjoyed a simple life with her family. Surviving are siblings; Allan Snyder Jr. and wife Peggy, Karen Snyder, Gary Snyder and wife Sherrie, and Larry Snyder and wife Roxann; a niece whom she raised, Megan Robazetti and nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the UMPC Dialysis Unit and 3rd floor Devlon Manor for their care given to Linda. In accordance with her wishes, Linda is to be cremated with no services.Show more

Martha Ann Lewis of Frostburg, passed away on November 26, 2023. Born on September 10, 1939 in Sharpsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wesley Lewis Sr. and Sue Dillon Lewis of Mt. Savage, MD. Ms. Lewis is predeceased by her brother Thomas Wesley Lewis Jr. of LaVale, MD. Ms. Lewis was a graduate of Mt. Savage High School and attended the Maryland Art Institute after graduation from high school. She retired from working at the Howard County Maryland Circuit and Traffic Court in Ellicott City. Her favorite time of year was Thanksgiving and she loved shopping for family and friends. Surviving are her 2 children; William Thomas Moyer and wife Lisa Gish-Moyer of College Park, MD, David Paul Moyer and wife Lorie Moyer of Mt. Savage, MD. Grandchildren; Sarah Ceresa (Richard), Matthew Moyer (Shelia), Jennifer Moyer, Bryan Paugh. A family graveside service will be held Saturday, December 2nd at the Mount Savage United Methodist Church cemetery in Mt. Savage, MD. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Mt. FROSTBURG-Bessie V. Cutter passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Sterling Care Frostburg Village Nursing Home. In the 84 years Bessie lived, she was so many things to so many people. A loving wife, devoted mother, and a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Bessie’s zest for life made her the life of the party. Bessie lived the simple life, she was a homemaker, as well as a fantastic baker. Her grandchild will miss her delicious pancakes and raisin filled cookies. Mostly, her family will miss the love she poured into every accomplishment she made in her life. Bessie is preceded in death by her husband Robert Cutter, Sr. , daughter, Rhoda Davis, and son, Robert Cutter, Jr. She is survived by daughters, Cathi V. Green (Deer Park, MD) and Ann Lattea (Frostburg, MD), 8 grand kids, 14 great-grand kids, along with many other nephews and cousins. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 6 to 8 p. m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a. m. with the Rev. Robert Thompson

Robert (Casey) Lee Thompson born December 14, 1945. He was raised since birth by his grandparents, Casey and Helen Thompson in Frostburg, Maryland. His grandparents and father, Robert Casey Thompson, preceded Robert in death. Robert was a 1963 graduate of Beall High School. He went to Baltimore at age eighteen to find work and worked in several different occupations. In 1972, Robert moved back to Frostburg, Maryland. Shortly thereafter, he went to work for Bernard Foods Industries in Evanston, Illinois. Robert worked there for twenty years and was awarded Bernard Food Salesman of the year five times in that period. Robert then opened Potomac Valley Industrial Supply Inc. in Clarysville, Maryland. He owned that business for nineteen years. He also owned Casey's Ice Company, Thompson Catering Service and Jim's Sales and Service. In 2008, he sold his businesses and retired. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. The last years of his life were brightened by his relationship with Vivian Snowberger, their friends and the love and help of the Robert Sines family, Bob, Marsha, Chad, Andy and Erin. Martha Ann Burdock, 80, passed away on November 18th, 2023, in Westminster, MD, at the home of her daughter, Laurie Burdock. Martha was an animal lover, from horses to her beloved dog Chloe, she loved all creatures big and small, and enthusiastic photographer, always capturing memories for her family to treasure. Born on April 22nd, 1943 in Dubois, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lou and Paul Coleman. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Jim Burdock, and her brother Eugene Coleman. Surviving are her children; daughter, Rhonda Parsons, her husband John Parsons, son Rick Burdock, daughter Laurie Burdock, her partner Janelle Creighton, and son Randy Burdock; her grandchildren, Jesse, his wife Teann, Megan, Cody, his wife Bethany, Taylor, Hunter, and her wife Rachel; her great grandchildren, whom she spoiled and adored, Wally, Nathaniel, Joelle, Natalie, Levi, Scarlett, Malachi, and Elijah; her sister, Mary Minnick; her nieces and nephews, Cinda, Cheryl, Mark, Pam, Paul, Serena, Kelly, Josh, Jack, Jennifer, Tanya, Todd, Terrell, Tara, Dana, Serena, Jerry, Wendy, Daniel, Roxie, and David – and a community she loved dearly. Dianne Sue Bennett, 70, of Frostburg passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at her daughters home, surrounded by her loving daughter, granddaughter, and grandchildren. Born on November, 26, 1952. She was the daughter of the late William Henry Booth and Maryland (Skidmore) Booth. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings; Donald Lee Booth and Kenneth Booth. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker who enjoyed Bingo and cooking. She dotes on her family and is survived by her daughter, Dianna Lynn Bennett; two grandchildren, Jacqueline D. Richardson and Paul Broadwater Jr. ; six great grandchildren who she especially loved, Jamie, Landon, Gracelynn, Indica, Amara Myers and Jacob Trenum, two siblings; sister, Virginia Perdew; brother, Walter Booth and numerous nieces and nephews. Dianne will be laid to rest with the love of her life, James R. Bennett. They were married May 15, 1967 until June 2, 2010 when he passed away. Norma Jean Scarpelli, 88, of Frostburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Born on June 7, 1935, to the late Claude Logan and Ida Harriet (Ware) Neat. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband, James Scarpelli, and a brother, Claude Leon Neat. Mrs. Scarpelli worked in the Dietary Dept. of Sacred Heart Hospital, Frostburg Village Nursing Home and Frostburg Heights. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with people and visiting those in need. Surviving are her three sons, James Edward Scarpelli and wife Rosemary, John Eugene Scarpelli and wife Peggy, Richard Leon Scarpelli and Michele; seven grandchildren, Andrew James Scarpelli, Justin Travis Scarpelli, Leah Michelle Scarpelli, Matthew Phillip Scarpelli, Rachel Lynn Scarpelli, Vincent Adam Scarpelli and Samantha Elizabeth Ezell; five great grandchildren, Dean Edward Scarpelli, Luke Andrew Scarpelli, Adina Rae Chapman, Madeline Ivy Scarpelli and Ellias Matthew Scarpelli.
