Evelyn Temples Duke, 86, of Batesburg, passed away February 14, 2019. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, February 18 at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Bob Woodyard officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. Active pallbearers are Donald Goff, Terry Brown, Timothy Temples, Richard Temples, Donald Kneece, Ken Ruff and Kevin Vann. Mrs. Duke was born in Saluda, SC the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. John William Temples. She was an active member of West Creek Baptist Church for 65 years where she served as a choir director, Sunday School teacher and GA director. She served her community well as a librarian's aide at Batesburg-Leesville Primary School where she retired after 23 years of service. Surviving are her loving husband of 70 years, Richard Waddell Duke; son and daughter-in-law, Richard M. "Mike" Duke (Teresa) of Leesville; brother, Shelly Temples of Saluda; grandchild, Kelli Vann (Kevin); great grandchild, Kaleb Vann. She was predeceased by a grandchild, Christopher Duke; and brother, Kelly Temples. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home or West Creek Baptist Church.
