Evelyn Louise Church Conley1961-2023Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you, until we meet again. "Evelyn Louise Church Conley, age 62, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed gently away on Monday, September 4th, 2023. Evelyn was born on a Boyd County summer's day, on July 13th, 1961. She was the blessing of the late Clyde and Fay Lane Church. Evelyn was a 1979 graduate of Russell High School. She loved to cook and was great at it. Evelyn made the best peanut butter cookies in the county. She used her talents in the kitchen to make a living and feed many in the area, working at Wendy's, KFC, Captain D's. She also spent time working for the Boyd County Jail and Rose Hill Day Care. Evelyn also loved to act. She would really get into character playing in Civil War Reenactments, and alongside her husband they would spread the Christmas Spirit as Mrs. Clause and Santa. Evelyn enjoyed being Mrs. Clause so much that she would continue the work for local radio stations such as WTCR, The Bee, and The Possum. Although being born in the summer months, Evelyn enjoyed winter and loved to collect penguins that are so often associated with the chilly weather. She had a strong faith in attending the Catlettsburg Church of the Nazarene. It is because of her unwavering faith that her family can take comfort in knowing she is walking the beautiful streets of gold. Evelyn had a soft spot for people and enjoyed making conversation. She would talk to just about anyone. Evelyn was a kind soul who loved her family, friends, and anyone she met. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Evelyn leaves behind one brother Clyde Ray Church and his wife Geri of Petersburg, WV, one sister Rose Ann Church Helton Snowden of Ashland, KY, two brothers-in-law Paul Burns of Worthington, KY, and Bill Counts of South Point, OH, a host of nieces and nephews, and her special companion, A Cat named Stormy. In addition to her parents, Evelyn is enjoying a heavenly reunion with her husband of 33 years, Paul David Conley, and two sisters Kathy Sue Church Burns and Mary Francis Church Counts. A memorial service for Evelyn will be announced at a later date.
