Joseph Brooks

Age - 57

November 29, 2023

"One thing we can all agree on, Joe Brooks had a smile that lit up the room! His zest for life was infectious which he freely shared with everyone during his time on planet Earth. God surely had a need for him when He suddenly called Joe home on November 22, 2023. He also made sure Joe did not suffer and that Joe's beloved family and friends have many enduring memories that will continue to bring joy and a smile forever. He was 57 years old. Joe was born and raised in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His mother, Esther, passed away many years ago. He is survived by his loving partner in crime: Doris, with whom he resided in South Carolina; brother: Robert; and daughter: Zane (Merrill), who both live in Pennsylvania; and last, but not least, his dog: Riggs, who loved riding in the car with his human dad. Through the years, Joe worked in several different companies and often was promoted to managerial roles. When he started his last position as Maintenance and Safety Manager at the Fitness and Raquet Center at Keowee Key, he truly "landed. " Joe absolutely loved going to work. The bonds and relationships he developed and nurtured lifted his spirits and encouraged him each and every day. Joe knew everyone and everyone knew Joe. One of his greatest joys was collecting a lot of stuff. In addition to the typical collections that come to mind, Joe leaned to ball caps and T-shirts. Every week for more than 4 years the mailbox was jammed full of unique specimens of each, many of which were designed and made just for him. Every single one carried the messages of hope, encouragement, and peace that he had found in the AA fellowship. To honor and provide him with a befitting farewell, A Celebration of Life will be held on December 5, 2023 at the Event Center in Keowee Key from 12 - 3 PM. Visitors may drop by anytime between 12 and 2 PM to reminisce, share "Joe stories" or hang out. The Memorial tribute will begin at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, we hope you will open your heart (and checkbook) and make a donation to any local charity of your choice that supports recovery, homelessness, animals, or a food pantry. Joe would like that and will be smiling from ear to ear. "Show more
