Eveline Norman was called home to be with Jesus on August 30, 2023. Eveline was born September 18, 1928, in Knoxville, Tennessee to John Henry and Dora Alice Dean. She was the youngest of 6 children that consisted of 5 daughters and 1 son. Eveline was baptized into the fellowship of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tennessee, April 21, 1940, at 7:30 p. m. by Rev. L. A. Alexander who was the pastor. Eveline married Aris Norman in December 1972. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Stephanie Wilson, her parents, brother, and sisters. Eveline was a graduate of Austin High School, Knoxville, Tennessee, Class of 1946. Eveline graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Practical Nursing School, Knoxville, Tennessee in 1956. She finished 36 hours of Pharmacology on May 15, 1958. She worked 3 years at The University of Tennessee Hospital before coming to Toledo, Ohio in 1959. She was employed at The Toledo Hospital and retired in 1985 after 27 years of service. She later volunteered 7 years at the American Red Cross where she taught CPR and Standard First Aid. She also worked another 4 years for Byrnebrook Nursing Home. Eveline became a member of Second Baptist Church on March 15, 2015. She was a former member of Rhema Word Christian Fellowship and Friendship Baptist Church. Shortly after becoming a member of Friendship, she organized the Nurses Guild. She became a member of the Mother's Board and in 1989 became a member of the Ideal Workers Club. She was also a member of the Couples Fellowship and Mended Hearts, Inc. Mother Norman became a member of Rhema Word Christian Fellowship Church in 2009. Eveline was an avid crochet artist and seamstress for many years. She was also a member of Troy Center and Mildred Gibson Center, Toledo, OH. In 1964 Eveline wrote a poem in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King titled "The Prince of Peace". The poem was published in 2000. Eveline, in her youth, was a member of the Gospel Harmonettes, Knoxville, Tennessee which sang at many community churches and functions. Eveline leaves to mourn her passing stepson, Dr. Herman Norman (Thena), Atlanta, GA; 3 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; 3 nieces, Mardest Crosby, Sparks, NV, Yvonne Andrews, and Brenda Colbert; 3 nephews, Reginald Neal, Danny McGrew, Knoxville, TN, and John Dean (Norma), Detroit, MI; great nieces, Kelly Dean and Sharon Henley; great nephew, John Dean Jr. , and great-great nephew, Sean Henley. Eveline also was blessed with a host of other relatives and many friends.
