"Lisa Kay Alverson Fair, MD, entered her heavenly home into the arms of Jesus on February 27, 2024, after a brief stay at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. Lisa was born on November 6, 1962, to James Dewitt and Mildred Greenway Alverson in Mooresville, NC. She graduated first in her class from Mooresville High School in 1981, and then attended North Carolina State University, graduating in 1985 with a double major in Zoology and Education. She was one of the first women to be a manager on the NCSU men\u0027s basketball team and was the proud owner of a National Championship pendant for the Wolfpack victory in 1983. She was then accepted to medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with her MD in 1989. She completed her residency at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville between 1989 and 1993. That year she joined Meadors \u0026amp; Goodson, PA, in Statesville, NC, becoming the first female OB-GYN in Statesville. She was one of the original shareholders when Piedmont HealthCare was formed in June 1996. Lisa married Rev. Leonard Fair in 1990, and they adopted three children: Samuel, Andrew, and Anna. She retired from medicine in 2017. In 2023, she became a proud \u0026quot;Mimi\u0026quot; to Carter Andrews, Anna\u0027s son. The Fairs were residing in Ashe County when she became ill and entered Hospice Care. She is survived by her husband Leo and children, Samuel (best friend Camry Neely), Andrew (girlfriend Madison Wallace), Anna (boyfriend Chase Andrew), and grandson Carter. She is also survived by her sister Lois Ann Williams (John), niece Elizabeth Shaffer, nephews Jonathan and David, and in-laws, Owen and Faye Fair. The family will receive friends at the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 E. Plaza Drive in Mooresville on Friday, March 1, 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, March 2, at 2 pm at Monticello Methodist Church, 308 Island Ford Road in Statesville. Rev. Gary Camp of Rose Chapel Global Methodist Church in Statesville will lead the service. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville will follow. The Fair family wishes to thank the staff at the ICU at Wake Forest Baptist Atrium in High Point and at The Gordon Hospice House for their dedicated care and consideration during Lisa\u0027s stay. Mr. William Franklin Scott, better known as Bill, age 88 of Todd, NC went home to be with his Lord peacefully with his family by his side Friday morning, March 1, 2024 at Gordon Hospice House.William leaves behind his daughters, Debbie (Calvin) Roten of West Jefferson, DeAnna Scott of Todd; grandson, Josh (Amber) Scott of West Jefferson; granddaughter, Wren (Haylee) Nicol of Winston Salem; and his great granddaughters, Violet and Annabelle Scott of West Jefferson.William was born in Ashe County on June 6, 1935 to the late Crater and Winnie Wilcox Scott. He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years; Lorna Greene Scott. William loved the Lord and was a member at Liberty Grove Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Director for 40 years. He retired from the Ashe County School Education where he taught for 33 years. William enjoyed wood working, fishing, and going to the beach twice a year. He was a loving father, grandfather, and will be missed by all.Funeral survives will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 4pm at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Elledge and Rev. Toby Oliver officiating. Linden Charles Welborn, 77, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Gordon’s Hospice House. Mr. Welborn was born in Iredell County, North Carolina, on October 14, 1946, to the late Lawrence Welborn and Ruby Dishman Welborn. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Wanda Welborn; one son, Wesley Welborn; three brothers, Kenneth Welborn, Zeb Welborn, Lawrence Welborn; and two sisters, Sybil Trivette and Irene Allen. Those left to cherish his memory is his three sons, Gary Welborn (Sharon), Mark Welborn (Michelle), Michael Welborn (Crystal); two brothers, Jimmy Welborn, Alfred Welborn; two sisters, Mildred Blanton (Kenny), Rozelle Douglas (Robert); five grandchildren, Kayla Welborn Wells (Ray), Arron Welborn, Brittany Welborn Vargas (Luis), Hailey Welborn, Makayley Welborn; and one great grandchild, Luis Alexander Vargas. There will be a graveside service on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 11:00am at Taylor Springs Cemetery in Union Grove, North Carolina. Jerry Lee Black, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024.Jerry was born in Iredell County NC to the late Russel Clarence Black Sr. and Lottie Bell Black. Jerry is a graduate of Harmony High School. He worked for JC Penny for over 46 years. He married his beloved wife Elizabeth in 1960, they were together 63 years until his passing. Jerry was a loving husband , father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR. He went to many races and every August he and his wife would go watch the races. Jerry loved the Lord and was a longtime devoted member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He is preceded in death by his parents.Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Elizabeth Black; son, Michael Black (Shirley); daughter, Karen Bell (Clive); brothers, R.C. Diann Millsaps Myers, 76, of Statesville, died Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.She was born on April 2, 1947, to the late William Parks Millsaps and Sarah Hope Millsaps. Also preceding her in death was a grandson, David Barnette.Diann was a talented artist and owned and operated her stained-glass business for many years. She enjoyed the slumping and molding of the glass as she created many beautiful works. She also enjoyed watercolors, flower, and vegetable gardening. Diann was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church.Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Jerry Stevenson, two daughters, Athena Barnette (Michael), LeAndra Weaver (Samuel), grandchildren, Josiah Barnette, Emma Grace Mamun (Kaiser), Nathaniel Barnette (Kelli), Sadie Barnette, Benjamin Barnette, Allie Weaver, Mahala Grant (Austin), Zachary Weaver (Sophia), a brother, Arnold Millsaps (Deraine) and a sister, Regina Lambert (Don).Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Gray Little officiating. Nanette Marie Shalvey,64, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024.Nanette was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on January 26, 1960 to Bernard J. Shalvey and Norma Jean Cioni Shalvey. Nanette was a dedicated and loving caregiver to her dear elderly patients, several of whom listed her in their obituaries as a "dear friend". Many a day was passed meeting their physical needs while praise and worship music played lifting their hearts. She regularly attended The Cove Church. She would light up the room with her big smile and infectious laugh…always sincere and open… ready to share stories of her days work, her patients, her children & grandchildren. She loved her children unconditionally. In addition to her patients and family, Nanette loved taking care of her yard, her pets and herself. She became quite a workout enthusiast. She will leave a big hole in the lives that she touched but we willingly release her into the presence of the Lord that she loved and the reunion with her dear parents and grandparents. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Bernard L. & Margaret Donovan Shalvey & Gino & Italia Cioni.Nanette is survived by her son, Dale Jeremiah Shalvey, his wife Tara (Stottlemyer) Shalvey and Granddaughter Hope Shalvey of Conover, NC; daughter, Nina Jean Shalvey of Statesville and Grandson Colton Gibbs at home; brother, Bernard G. & Mary Ellen (Drozda) Shalvey of Mooresville, NC, their three adult children, Lisa M. Shalvey of Mooresville, Bernard D. Shalvey of Huntersville, NC and Hannah L. Shalvey of Mooresville; brother John A Shalvey and his adult children, Sam Shalvey, Jacob Shalvey and Emily Shalvey, all of Columbus, OH. She also had a special relationship with her cousin, Chris Knight of Jefferson, PA.John 14:1-2 "Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you." A private gathering of the immediate family will be held to celebrate Nanette’s life.

She loved dressing up and putting on her make up. She loved her puppies, going to the beach, watching preaching on television, and cooking.Along with her father, Clyde Douglas Bentley (Retha), those left to cherish her memory include her fiancé`, Michael Lewis, whom she had been with for 14 years, a brother, Jesse Coffey (Amiea), her pastor, Lance Mainn, and her puppies, Wilbur, Webbie and Willow.At her request, there will be no formal services held.
