Eva Clark - 30
April 22, 2019
Rosenberg, TX
Eva Ruth Clark passed from this life on April 22, 2019, just 13 days shy of her 88th birthday. Ruth was born to Clarence and Lorine Gunn on May 5, 1931 in McEwen, Tennessee. She had one sister, Naoma Crowder. The family moved from Tennessee to Detroit, Michigan during the depression in order for her father to find work. Despite the difficult circumstances of our country at this time, she often described her childhood as happy and idyllic. Their home was often filled with extended family who were trying to make a new start or find work. After graduating from high school, she went to work as a clerk for the telephone company in Detroit. After two years, she had saved enough money to attend Florida College. At Florida College, she met the love of her life, John Clark. They quickly fell in love and married 5 months later. Ruth and John were married for almost 57 years until John passed away in 2009. As she would always say, "We fell in love, and never fell out." Together, they began many years of serving different churches around the country. They lived in Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, and Texas which includes at least 13 different congregations. Being a preacher's family was not easy, but Ruth was devoted to her husband, children, and his work. Mom had a passion for teaching children's Bible classes and encouraging young mothers. She said the key to enjoying motherhood is to enjoy your children at all stages. After John passed away, Ruth lived independently in her home for 9 years. Ruth was a member of Avenue N Church of Christ in Rosenberg, Tx. She enjoyed fashion, shopping, picking up the grandchildren from school, and she valued her independence. Last May, she transitioned to Greatwood Assisted Living in Sugar Land, Tx where she would live until her passing. Ruth is survived by her five children, their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Her presence will be deeply missed, but we are thankful that this is not the end. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Sympathy Store
