Eugene Williams, Jr. , age 75, of Philippi, WV, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at his home following a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 6, 1948, in Philippi, a son of the late Eugene Ferrol and Sadie Mae McMillen Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Neil Williams. On September 21, 1996, Eugene married Linda Sue Nethken Williams who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Ricky Lee and wife DeLeana of Buckhannon, Scott Allen and wife Rachel of Clarksburg, WV and David Lynn of Norton, WV; one step son, Doug Alderman and wife Shelby of Buckhannon; one step daughter, Melissa Kane and husband John Michael of Green Bank, WV; six grandchildren, Kirsten, Brock, Brody, A. J. , Ethan and Logan; three step grandchildren, JD, Ben and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Asher; one brother, Rusty Williams and wife Debbie; one sister, Leslie Shaw and husband Jimmy. Gene was a member of the Faith Way Baptist Church and a retired Sales Clerk of 30 years, mostly of Ken's True Value in Philippi. Friends will be received Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor David Canny and Rev. Dennis Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Philippi, WV. Sanetrik Jr. and wife Jessica of Moatsville; son-in-law TJ Sanders of Morgantown; grandchildren, Frank Demasi IV and wife Danielle of Grafton, Nick Demasi of Redwood City, CA, Beth, John, and Thomas Sanetrik of Moatsville; great grandchild Cohen Demasi of Grafton; sisters Sally Pope of Akron, OH, Mary Jean Gibson of Wheeling; brother Russell Mercer and wife Karen of Barberton, OH; several nieces and nephews. Judith was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Virginia Mercer; husband Thomas Sanetrik; daughter Holly Sanders; brothers John Mercer, Pail Mercer, Dan Mercer. Judith was very active in the CEOS since 1974 in both Monongalia and Barbour Counties. She was nominated for Barbour County Bell for 2024. She was also active in the St. Elizabeth Rosary Society. She was a member of the Barbour County Senior Center. She enjoyed sewing, singing, and loved music of all kinds. Judith was quite the cook, she was known for her famous pies and rolls. She always enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving dinner and always loved having a house full at other gatherings in her home. Judith loved her grandchildren; she was very proud of them. Every night the grandchildren would come over for game night, which she and Thomas enjoyed the time spent with them. Family and friends were very important to Judith. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday December 12, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Prayer service will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday. Visitation will resume on Wednesday December 13, from 9- 10:30. A Mass od Christian Burial will be held at 11 am at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Fr. Babu Joseph as Celebrant. After meeting Berlin, Janey told her girlfriends, "I'm going to marry Him". Janey and Berlin moved from MI to Philippi after his time in the service. She enjoyed sewing; she made band uniforms for the Philippi Middle School and cheerleading uniforms. Janey was very involved in the community. She was a long-time member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church being involved in Altar and Rosary. Janey enjoyed cooking for people. She assisted in preparing and serving several meals with the church members. She was considered a "best friend" by many. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 15 at 10 am at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Barbara was born December 13, 1928, in Washington, DC, a daughter of the late Dr. George Ray Wait and Sara Fay (Johnson) Wait. Barbara was united in marriage on September 9, 1947, to her loving husband of 72 years, John Brokaw Porterfield, who preceded her in death on February 21, 2020. Surviving are children; Karen (Porterfield) Skidmore and husband Jim of Philippi, WV; Jeffrey Porterfield and wife Annette of Crofton, MD; grandson Daniel Skidmore and wife Kerry of Henderson, NV; great grandchildren, Jackson, Isla, and Finley Skidmore of Henderson, NV; niece Betsy Brodnax and husband Peter of Knoxville, TN; and nephew, James Strong Jr. of Delaware. She was a member of the Warner Memorial Presbyterian Church in Kensington, MD and the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach, FL, where she shared her talents by singing in both choirs. She also played piano for services when she lived at Elison of Maplewood. There are no services scheduled at this time. Liberty Community, passed away Sunday November 26, 2023 at her residence. Diana was born May 13, 1945 in Philippi, a daughter of the late Herbert R. and Carol (Corley) Holbert. Diana was twice married first to George Thomas Johnson, Jr. who passed away on November 12, 1986, second to John Anthony Davide who passed away January 25, 2000. Surviving are son, George "GT" Johnson and wife Belinda of Mt. Liberty Community, daughter Jennifer Whetzel and husband Tommy of Philippi; grandchildren, Jessica Cecil and husband Jackson of Florida, Samantha Roy and husband Earl of Philippi, Cameron Whetzel and Emma Whetzel both of Philippi; foster grandchildren, Megan Means, Aiden Prater, Alexandra Floyd, Ireland Daugherty, Jayquane Eckenrode, Iris Whetzel, Venmar Martinez, Clay Fisher, and Tyler Roy; great grandchild, Juliet Cecil of Florida; sister, Linda VanMeter of MD, Brenda Condon of MA; brother, Danny Holbert and wife Kathy of Mt. Liberty Community; and several nieces and nephews. Diana retired from the US Coast Guard as an Accountant. She liked to travel, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Diana was a member of the DAR, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Barbour Church of Christ. She served as a board member for the Barbour County Senior Center, held many positions for the Mt. Liberty Community Center. Gene was born May 16, 1961, in Connecticut a son of the late Gene Frances Herbert and Antoinette (LaRose) Herbert who survives in Philippi. Gene was recently married to Pamela June (Amos) Herbert and have been together for 22 years. Also surviving are children- Gene Herbert III and Vanessa Dean and husband Randy all of Buckhannon; Step-son, Brandon Welch of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Cody Herbert, Alex Dean, Tucker Herbert, Harley Dean, Jillian Dean; step-grandson Logan Welch; sister, Donna Attardo and husband Robert of California. Gene retired from City Construction as a Foreman. He enjoyed building and working on cars, riding his motorcycle, collecting antiques, and traveling. Gene will be missed by all whom knew him. He was loved by several friends and family. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was the long-time treasurer of the Crossroads Cemetery Association. She was a member of the Oder of the Eastern Star, Philippi Chapter #41, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Tacy CEOS. She served as a princess in the 1953 Mountain State Forrest Festival. Mrs. Mundy is survived by her husband William Lowell Mundy; daughter, Lisa Sharp and husband Dave; stepson William Lowell Mundy, Jr. and wife Patsy; sister Sandra Sue McBee; grandchildren Reagan and Rylan Sharp, Jamie Smith and husband Dustin, and Joey Mundy; great grandchildren, Harly, William, and James; and several nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Richard McBee, James McBee, and Lucille Ball.
