Ethel Mae Simmons, born February 28, 1938 to Gertrude Thompson and Fred Walker, Sr. She was raised by Wellington and Ruth Jenkins. Ethel was baptized at an early age under the leadership of Reverend A. J. Flewellen on November 2, 1952. She served on the Women Day Ministry and was cook for the youth department. "Tootie" as she was affectionately known received her formal education in Beaufort county school system. Mrs. Simmons was employed with Blue Channel Seafood for many years after their business discontinued she was later employed by Gay Seafood and work there until her health failed. "Tootie" enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening. She loved her flowers. On Sunday, April 14, 2019, Ethel Mae Simmons "Tootie" went on home to be with her Master. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and grandson, CaTrell Simmons. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Roselee Simmons and Gertrude Jenkins; four grandchildren, Travis Jenkins (Gema), Anastaisa (Harvey) Garvin, Ashley Jenkins and Felicia Jenkins; sisters, Georgiana Walker, Thelma Walker, Martha Walker and Alberta White; god daughter, Marquita Capers; adopted daughters, Mary Seabrook and Tiffany Seabrook; like a daughter, Prophetess Beatrice Washington (Earl), Rosemary Armstrong and Jenifer Burns; like a son, George Brown; four brothers, Fred Walker, Jr. (Ida), Aurlius Walter (Ann), Ronnie Williams and Marvin Williams; special friend/cousin, Ann Mae Bee (Eddie), Josphine Scott, Gloria Seabrook, Rachel Seabrook, Thelma Holmes; special cousin, Janette Brown; special great granddaughter, Kristyan Jenkins; twenty six great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren; adopted granddaughter, Monique Scott; brother in law, David Brown Gidon; two nieces in law, Rebecca Walker and Andrea Walker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
