Ethel Noonan, 87 of Pekin passed away at 10:23 am Monday, May 1, 2023 at her home. She was born to Elroy and Ethel (Ebeling) Waltzer on January 26, 1936 in New Orleans. She married Larry Noonan on May 5, 1968, who passed away January 19, 1978. Ethel is survived by her son, Kevin Noonan & his wife Kat of Hawaii; one brother, Elroy Paul Waltzer & his wife Carolyn; her cousin Shelby Spuhler and his wife Mary Ann; nieces, nephews, and many spiritual siblings to Kevin who considered her a 2nd Mom in New Orleans. Ethel attended several United Church of Christ churches throughout her life. She was an office manager at many different companies, namely with Prudential for 18 years. Yet her job description hardly defined who she was any more than which Church she attended. She was a frequent volunteer at the New Orleans Museum of Art and the People Program also. She enjoyed cross stitching, movies, fighting crime and going out to eat with friends and family. She was both a reluctant supporter and avowed critic of her son Kevin's irreverent pranks and shenanigans. Ethel was also a volunteer at the Miller Center for many years; she called it work, but you were family. Cremation will be accorded with no services held. Her cremated remains are going to Oahu to be spread, except for a small handful that will be laminated into a bookmark, since she was always in the middle of a book. Memorials may be directed to the sky. Be sure to speak loudly.
